Matsumoto Koushiro IX...he probably is one of the most prolific and energetic actor on stage. Not only a Kabuki actor, Koushiro ventured into acting in The King and I in London, and La Mancha (featuring Don Quixote). He is famous for acting as Benkei in Kanjincho (aren't they all? :)). He was noted from young, to have "that look" of an actor that would take him far. He is also a frequent actor in dramas, one of them The King's Restaurant 「王様のレストラン」 also starring the famous Yamaguchi Tomoko.
He is also the father of young wagoto Kabuki actor Itikawa Somegoro, famous actress and singer Matsu Takako, and stage actress Matsumoto Kiho. Together, the family act on stage as Theatre Ninth, number nine representing his current position.
