News from Isabela
by Theresa Mina
First, about the Feeding Program, which restarted on November 10,2006 at Sagana Elementary School. The group arrived at about 9:30 a.m. and present were Ige Agustin, Yolly Miranda, Polet Silverio, Mario Santiago and me. Polet and staff prepared sopas this time. Immediately after the food was served, we distributed the globes (2 pieces), the charts which include political maps and division and multiplication tables. The next feeding visit was on November 17th, lugaw was served and at that time the Pambata magazines were distributed. (P.S. Macita Kenept has asked about the group’s decision regarding the restroom she requested.)
Second topic is the basketball games. Last October 28,2006 at 2nd game of the day, Batch’82 and Batch’83 played against each other. We lost the game with a score of 53-72. Polet said, “wala na naman kasing cheerers from the batch!” (‘di lang maamin na talagang talo ano?) James Meimban, Bing Flores, Rosalito Soriano, Virgilio Banggot (He is here now from Hongkong) David Macato, Tony Espina, Alex Apacible, Melanio Vinoray, Ferdie Ko, Edwin Millan, Romulo Sitchon, Polet Silverio and Arnulfo Domingo (a new batchmate in circulation! He is the Barangay Chairman at Cabulay, Santiago City and his contact number is 0919-737-1828) played in that game.
Then on November 4, 2006 at the 1st game at 1:00pm, Batch’82 played against Batch’79 with a score of 56-60. As usual, talo kahit I was there to cheer along with Jesusa. Di kasi dumating mga girls na iba. Same players except for Polet and Tony who didn’t show up.
Next item… On Sunday, November 19,2006 at 3:00 pm, there was an alumni meeting at the ULSHS. Executive Committee of Batch ’82 called for a meeting immediately after. (Details of this meetings will be in the January issue)
Lastly, about the LSE reunion, batch din daw natin ang organizers. Details were discussed also at the November 19th meeting.
That's all for now…Thank you and regards to everybody.

GEMS from The Journal

The holidays are right around the corner, and I hope that you are having a good time with your friends and family. I look forward to the holiday season every year because it allows me to reflect on important things in life. At Christmastime, I look back at all the blessings throughout the year and, in my own special way, give thanks.
It's too easy to get caught up in the rush of the season and we sometimes focus too much on what we don't have and forget the blessings we already have. Please take a moment now to appreciate the gifts we have received and consider sharing such blessings. Remember the true reason of the celebration of this season.
During 2006, we, in behalf of Batch 1982 of University of La Salette High School Executive Committee, through the financial assistance of special donors, have responded to plea of help from fellow alumni, provided 237 school children with nutritious food and educational materials. We would like to continue helping the Executive Committee with the work they have begun in Santiago City. In doing so, we would like to invite you to touch the lives of those who are in need and those willing to open their lives to us-- -- to you, our fellow alumni. It is our hope that as members of Batch ’82, you will begin and/or continue to assist us in upcoming projects. We rely on the generosity of people like you, our most steadfast supporters, to realize these goals.
I have been reminded time and again, that the thoughtful offer of one's time and talents outweighs any tangible gifts. I would at anytime accept the best present of all, the gift of one's self. So join us this year, in the fulfillment of our promise on our graduation night in March 1982, "to let our light shine through" by sharing ourselves to others.
Wishing you all a very merry Christmas!
