JinYu's Story
My daughter was born on August 18th, 1998.
This makes her a "double cat", born in the
year of the tiger and a Leo.

She was abandoned at the gate of the Yanping
Children's Welfare Home in Nanping, Fujian
province in southeastern China.

At the orphanage she was called Yan Xiao Yu,
which means "Twilight Jade".

On January 15th she weighed about 14 pounds
and was 22.8 tall - Very tiny!

On May 21st she weighed about 17.5 pounds and
was 27.2 inches tall.

On July 19th she weighed 18 pounds and 13
ounces and was 28 inches tall.

She is growing up! Still small but beautiful! She is
in the 30% on the American growth scale.

I left for China on July 4th and met my daughter for
the first time on July 6th in Fuzhou, capital city of
Fujian Province.

I named my daughter JinYu, the Chinese word for
"most precious treasure" as she will forever be
my heart's most precious treasure.

Her middle name is Celia, after my grandmother,
Cecelia Sevart.

I also named her Jade as both the name she
was given in China and the name that I picked
for her include the Chinese word "Yu" which
means Jade.

JinYu is a happy girl with 2 teeth and cutting
another one on top.
