To Protect a Princess

Chapter 3

The Sailor Senshi decided to go to their respective homes and consider the
situation, tomorrow was Saturday and they would meet up then to discuss
their thoughts.

Ami
Ami sat at her computer, pouring through her lengthy database of all their
encounters. She went over every enemy they had ever fought, searching for
anything like the creature they met that night and the big guy who called
himself Piccolo. Her eyes began to glaze over and she shut off the screen.
She leaned forward and began massaging her temples. The headache began
behind her eyes but was slowly working its way through her forehead and
across to her ears. It had been a hard night. "What is going on here?" She
asked herself. She hated it when she couldn't understand things. Between
the baffling monster attack and this Piccolo guy she was having a very
confusing day. There was also the problem of Piccolo's offer. "We should
meet with him for sure," she thought "at least we might learn a little bit
more about him and his motives. After all, it can't hurt to just talk to
the guy."

Minako
"Artemis, wake up." Said Minako as she shook the small white cat that
rested on her nightstand.
"What is it Mina-chan?" Said a groggy Artemis.
"The monster was strong but we took care of it."
"Good."
"But there was someone else there."
"Who?"
"We don't know, he called himself Piccolo. He was actually the one who
defeated the monster."
"Did he attack you?"
"No, but he knew who we were."
"He knew you're real identities?"
"No, he didn't even know which one of us was the princess. He just knew
that we were the Sailor Senshi."
"What else did he say?"
"He said that we should meet at Rei's temple tomorrow and go with him to
train."
"Train?"
"That's what he said, Rei doesn't think we should go but I'm not so sure."
"You're thinking of going?"
"I don't know what it is exactly, but I feel like I can trust him."
"Luna hasn't told me of anyone coming to train you."
"He said that he doesn't even wants to be here. He seemed annoyed when he
was talking to us."
"So what's the plan?"
"I'm not sure, were all meeting up tomorrow to talk about it before we go to
Rei's."
"Do you think you'll be going with him?"
"I don't know, but it can't hurt to just talk to the guy."

Makoto
Makoto stood before her wooden practicing dummy mentally working out the
strikes she would be practicing. Her decision made she began assailing the
dummy with a flurry of punches and kicks. As her speed increased her
strikes became fevered. With a scream she struck the dummy one last time,
splintering the wood and sending the dummies left arm flying across the
room. "Darn, broke another one." She said as she wiped the sweat off her
brow. "I'll have to order another replacement arm." She mumbled as she
flopped onto her couch. This was stage two of her post-monster-attack
pattern. First she would pound her dummy senseless. Then she would lie on
the couch until she became sick of her own sweaty stink. Then came the
shower and it was straight to bed. As she lay on the couch she thought back
to the monster they fought. It was strong, but that guy Piccolo defeated it
with ease. "He said that he could teach us to use the kind of power he
had." She thought. "If that's true then maybe we should train with him for
awhile. Either way, it can't hurt to just talk to the guy."

Usagi
"You should leave that damp cloth on your head all night. You'll wake up
with a nasty shiner if you take it off too soon." Said Luna as Usagi lay
down in her bed.
"Thanks Luna." Said Usagi as she poked at the cloth on her forehead.
"What happened out there anyway?" Asked the cat.
"I don't know exactly, I was knocked out most of the time."
"Well what was the monster like?"
"It was horrible, when we found the monster it was sitting on the ground
eating."
"Eating?"
"Umm... it had killed a woman and was eating her."
"What?!"
"It killed her."
"Was it one of Beryl's monsters?"
"Ami didn't think so, she said it was unlike anything she's ever seen
before."
"I wish I could've seen it, was it strong?"
"I think so, when I attacked the monster it hit me pretty hard. I woke up
in Rei's temple."
"We're lucky the other scouts were able to take care of it."
"So far as I know they didn't."
"It got away?"
"No, this guy Piccolo showed up and destroyed it. At least that's what I
was told."
"Piccolo?"
"Yeah, and if his name wasn't weird enough..."
"What?"
"He's about seven feet tall, green, had pink patches where his muscles are,
wore a turban and huge shoulder pads, and sounds like he gargles with thumb
tacks."
"Is he dangerous?"
"I'm not sure, I don't think so."
"Did he have anything to say?"
"Not much, something about training us."
"Training you? That's me and Artemis's job."
"He said that we should say good bye to everyone we know and bring only what
we can carry."
"Sounds like he plans on taking you guys somewhere for a long time."
"I know, Rei freaked out. She said we'd be crazy to go with him."
"I'd tend to agree with her. What do the others think?"
"I don't know, we are all meeting at Rei's temple tomorrow to talk about
it."
"What do you think?"
"I don't know, he seems trustworthy and he's really strong. I'm not sure
what to think."
"Are you even going to meet with him?"
"Yeah, sure, after all it can't hurt to just talk to the guy."

Rei
The flames licked at her hair as she leaned in close to the fire. She
watched it's swirling flames intently, hoping that some revelation will come
to her. She studied every arc and plume of smoke, every crackle and pop
were open to interpretation. She tried to relax but her mind would not
rest. In her current state the fire would tell her nothing. She could
still feel him, he was very far away but his power reached her no matter how
much she tried to block it out. The feeling of his power flowed over her
like a warm wave. It was strange to her, but somehow comforting. Deep
inside she knew he was not dangerous, to them anyway, but how could they be
sure? How could his intentions and spirit be determined? A thin smile
creased her lips. She'd have a little surprise test for Piccolo when she
saw him next. "The others would want to meet him." She said to her self
softly. Her smile widened and a mischievous twinkle sparked across her
eyes, "After all it can't hurt to just talk to the guy."
