Wounded Wings
A poem inspired by the first ED
Darkness has swallowed the light
Hope abandoned me by the wayside
Future's door slammed shut in my face
Despair cages me
The past haunts me
I've lost my rhythm
The melody has faded into obscurity
The words have lost their meaning
Harmony has been replaced by discord
My heart holds no music
My heart is like a bird
Wings far too injured to fly
But someday it must
Despite the pain
If I ever hope to live again
Someday I will learn that...
Light never dies
It just vanishes for a while
Hope never abandons
It just is lost temporarily
Doors may slam shut
But they cause other to open
Despair cannot win over faith
For hope springs eternal
It's better to put the past where it belongs
And look to the future
Someday I will learn
Those words are true
But for now...
My heart is like a bird
Wings far too injured to fly
But someday it will
Despite the pain
Because I want to live again
