The Radditz Saga

The story of DragonBall Z takes place a few years after the end of the first DragonBall. This series didn't have the same amount of humor as did the first series; this one was targeted at a more teen audience and contained more power fights. Through all the fighting, the apparent showing of loyalty made this a very well made story.

Goku has now settled down. Of course, as promised, he marries ChiChi, and to the shock of all of his friends, Goku has a son named Gohan, named after Goku's "grandfather". Things seem to go well until Goku encounters his brother, Radditz, who traveled through space to find him. He tells Goku that his real name is Kakarrot and that he is a Saiyan, a member of a powerful race of fighters. They were considered indestructable, but could only be paralyzed by grabbing their tails, which marked them a Saiyan. Of course, Goku had his cut off after transforming into his Oozaru form. Saiyans transformed into their Oozaru forms by looking directly at full moonlight. Radditz tells Goku that he was sent to this planet to rid it of all life forms, but forgot his mission. Goku tries to deny this, yet he feels that Radditz is telling the truth after he inquires about Goku being bumped on the head as a child. After a quick fight with Goku, Radditz manages to kidnap Gohan. Another shocker is the return of Piccolo. He offers a temporary truce with Goku, since he has a bit of a score to settle with Radditz too. The two track him down and endure a long battle. Piccolo manages to launch a Super Beam Cannon attack on Radditz, but only manages to burn his shoulder. Gohan, hidden in Radditz's spaceship, could only sit and watch the battle. Soon he decides that he cannot stand to watch his father get kicked around, and he explodes out of the capsule, and headbutts Radditz in the stomach. Raditz is injured by this, and prepares to annihilate Gohan. While this was going on, Goku manages to paralyze Radditz, giving Piccolo a chance to launch another beam cannon. Goku holds Radditz back. Goku urges Piccolo to launch it quick, even if it costs him his life. Piccolo does, and kills both of them. Radditz, before dying, reveals that his scouter had been recording what has been transpiring, and that the signal was sent to two other Saiyans on another planet. The two Saiyans receive the message, and depart for their year-long journey.

The Saiyan Saga

Goku is transported to the afterworld, and he meets a large man named King Yama, who determines whether you go to Heaven or Hell. Goku, being the good person that he is, he gets transported to Snake Way, the equivalent to Heaven. His goal is to reach king Kai's home. The journey, he estimates, shouldn't take too long. Boy, is he in for a surprise.

After seeing what potential Gohan has in the battlefield, Piccolo decides to take Gohan under his wing for some special boot camp.

Krillin learns of what happens to Goku and tells Yamcha about it. Yamcha now plays baseball in the city. He is the all-star on the team. Krillin tells Yamcha that he, Yamcha, Tien, and Chaozu have to report to Karin Tower for some special training. Before they leave, Yamcha involves himself in a baseball brawl. Then they departure to prepare for the coming of the Saiyans.

Gohan resumes his training in the wilderness. He begins to learn how to fend for himself. He befriends a Brontosaurus after pulling a splinter from his side. Their friendship didn't last for long after a T-Rex devours Gohan's friend. Gohan then resumes his training and encounters Piccolo. Gohan then decides to return home to his mother. Along the way, he encounters a series of events, such as almost being killed in a storm and freeing a group of orphans. Gohan reaches his home, then realizes that he can't handle returning home. He decides to return when he feels the time is right.

Krillin and his friends reach Karin Tower to begin their training. One of the highlights of their training is a trip through time via Kame's time room to the old planet of vegeta before it was destroyed. They encounter a group of Saiyans who they engage in battle with. Before the Saiyans can finish the Z fighters off, the room suddenly turns back to its real form.

Along the way to King Kai's home, Goku finds out that after a few months, he is only a bit of the way there. he hitches a ride with the Snake Way street cleaner. After a while, the street cleaner hits the edge of the road, knocking Goku off the truck and plunging down past the clouds around Snake Way, ending up in the Home For Infinite Losers, AKA HFIL, the bad place. His hunger brings him to a large tree filled with fruit. After an attempt to reach the fruit, he meets two ogres, whom one of which he mistakes for King Kai. He asks why he can't eat the fruit and is explained to that the fruit belonged to the great King Yama, and that the two ogres could lose their jobs if anyone ate it. Goku asks one of the ogres to try to toss him back onto Snake Way. The ogre does so but does not succeed. Instead, the ogre makes a proposal. He would let Goku use a special machine that could probably launch Goku back onto Snake Way. But the catch was that he and Goku would have to sumo. Goku, of course, won the match and got to ride the machine, which turned out to be just a large seesaw. The ogre jumped onto one end off a high cliff, launching Goku very high into the air, just short of arms reach to the clouds. He quickly made a u-turn while falling back down via Kamehameha. He was able to reach the clouds, but never passed them after hitting his head. The ogre later explained that his head was too soft. The other ogre, watching from his office, decided he wanted to challenge Goku. He said that if Goku beat him in a foot race, he would show him a shortcut back to Snake Way. The race took them through lava pits, raging infernos, and the HFIL Amusement Park. The race ended around the Yama Fruit Tree. Goku was playing around, saying he would eat one of the fruit. The ogre got really pissed and started chasing him around the tree. Goku turned around and jumped onto his opponent, winning the race. The ogre showed Goku the path, which ultimately led to King Yama's place! Before leaving, he ate one of the Yama Fruits. After a bit of climbing, Goku emerges out of the right hand drawer in King Yama's desk, and then proceeds back onto Snake Way. He was now 3 months behind on his trip to King Kai, but with the energy from the fruit, he should have been able to gun it to King Kai's home.

Back on Earth, Gohan resumes his training with Piccolo. In an attempt to escape from his training, Goku builds a boat and travels overseas where he ends up being shipwrecked on a beach. There, he meets 2 orphans, whom are part of larger group of orphaned children. These children try to live off whatever resources they have. Everday, they are constantly hounded by the "Home", who try to put them in "good" homes. To protect them is an older orphan, going by the name of Pigaro(or Figaro, I'm not so sure). He keeps watch over the house the children live in every night. Gohan and Pigaro have a talk during the night about where Gohan comes from, and the children overhear. The next day, they decide, they would all go together to get Gohan back home, since his home isn't too far away from their location. The next day, the people from the home make their daily attempts at getting to the children. They have a plan to try to hijack their car, but their plan is spoiled when the police arrive. Expecting Pigaro to help them, the children fight back. But Pigaro, for some reason explained later, decides to leave the children behind and take Gohan home himself. And angry Gohan asks Pigaro why he left the children to be taken. Pigaro explains that the people from the home can provide them with a better life, better than he could give. He bids Gohan goodbye and drives away. Gohan turns around and heads for his home. When he reaches the clearing where his house is, he sees his mother inside eating a photograph. He has a change of heart, remembering what his duty to the world, and to the whole universe is. He runs back into the woods near his home and encounters Piccolo, who reminds him of his mission. The two return to the area where Gohan continues his training.

Goku seems to be making good time on the way to King Kai's house. A while away from leaving King Yama's home, he finds a strange looking house. He is tempted to go inside when suddenly the home turns into a large snake and engulfs him. He travels for a long time when he lands on a solid floor. He is greeted by two "beautiful" women who introduce him to the owner of the house, whom Goku mistakes for King Kai(I don't see how you coan do this despite the fact that the home's owner is FEMALE). She introduces herself as Princess Snake, a resident of Snake Way. She feeds him and offers him a bath in their "hot springs". Princess Snake has some plans of her own for Goku. Goku asks to leave and is told by Princess Snake to remain for a while longer. She tries to convince him to stay by providing him with some juice and entertainment, which includes one of Princess Snake's handmaids playing a fatal game of Russian Roulette with a gun and a swords dance, which in cooperation with the juice Goku drinks, makes him fall asleep. During this sleeping period, Princess Snake reveals herself to be a vile looking hideous creature, who wants to keep Goku forever. The juice Goku had drunk contained a special herb which could knock a bull out for 3 whole days. Of course, Goku isn't a bull, he's a monkey, er, I mean, a Saiyan. He wakes up within 3 minutes of consuming the liquid. He discovers Snake's plan and makes a break for it, discovering that the palace is actually the belly of a large snake. He escapes it's bite and begins to zoom off in different directions which confuse the pursuing snake and ends up having it tied up in a knot. Now Goku can continue to King kai's home without any interruptions.
