"I Love You Came Too Late"
Chapter 2

Serena searched through her pocketbook looking for the key to her dorm. She let
her beautiful blonde hair down now. She no longer wore her "Meatball hairstyle"
"I wonder who my room mate is." she thought. Just as she was about to put the
key in the door it swung open. Standing before her was a male about his early
twenties. He had blonde hair and blue eyes. He was about 6'2. With a strong
build. "Not as good looking as Darien" Serena thought. "No, I will not think
about him." her mind screamed back at her.
"Hi." the man said giving her a killer smile.
"I'm Chris." he said.
"Hello, I'm Serena. I'm new here." Serena said.
"Are you my room mate?" Serena asked.
"I thought girls usually didn't get paired up with boys." Serena continued. But
after she sad that she blushed a bright red. "Then I guess this is my lucky
day." Chris sad still smiling.
He stepped a side and let Serena get in. The dorm was nice. Two bedrooms, two
bathrooms, kitchen, and living room all nicely decorated. When you stepped out
on to the balcony you had an ocean view. (AN: Okay, I don't really know if Yale
has dorms with ocean views or even if it's close to the ocean but it is in my
story!) 'How about I show you the ropes after you unpack." Chris asked. "Sure
that would be great." Serena replied giving him one of those smiles that she
*only* gave Darien. When she smiled at Chris Serena thought he was going to
faint. 'Well, um I''ll let you unpack." he stuttered.
"What made me do that?" Serena thought.
"Maybe I'm actually falling in love with someone that isn't Darien." she
continued thinking. That thought satisfied her immensely.
"I'm ready to go" Serena shouted down the hall to Chris
Serena came out with a very short pair of jean short and a with tang top. Her
lovely gold hair cascaded all around her. "Um come on." Chris said still staring
at her admiring her beauty. The college was huge. It was the summer campus so it
was basically the beach and other places to do sports. (AN: Okay I don't know if
Yale has a summer campus or not. Just work with me people) She saw a ton of boys
with girls hanging on their arms. And for a short second she missed Darien.
Chris seemed to read her thoughts. "Yeah,a lot of people get together in the
summer." he said to her. "Oh, I'm not really interested in that, I just broke up
with someone." Serena replied. "Wanna talk about?" Chis asked. He took her to a
little cafe' where they sold ice cream an bought Serena a cone. "You don't have
to tell me anything you know.'" Chris said to Serena. Then all of a sudden she
blurted out her whole story ending up crying into his shirt. "It's okay" he
whispered to her. "Forget about him." he continued telling her.
Serena then looked up and said loudly,
"You're right! But it's just to hard!" Serena continued crying. Chris leaned
down to kiss her but Serena quickly jerked away. 'You're just like all of
them!!! Take advantage of me when I'm vulnerable!" she screamed at him and ran
out of the cafe' letting the door slam behind her.
"What are you doing?" Amy asked looking up from her Steven King novel. Amy moved
in with Darien a few months ago because her mother had died and she couldn't pay
for the house alone and since they were both studying for the same thing and go
to the same college it seemed like a good idea. Amy continued watching as Darien
shoved clothes into his duffel bag and slammed drawers. "What are you doing?"
Amy repeated her question. "I'm going to get her back." Darien replied zipping
up the bag.
Amy just looked at him and whispered,
"Good luck."
Chis found Serena laying on the bed her face tear stained.
He sat down next to her.
"I'm really sorry. I was a total jerk. You had just came off a bad relationship
and hen I try to hit on you." H said to her. "Let's start over." Chris said.
"I'm Chris, your new room mate ." he said as her extended his hand.
"Hi I'm Serena." she said giggling taking his hand.
"Look it's evening why don't you go down to the beach and look at the ocean?" he
said. "Good idea." Serena replied giving him a smile.
Serena took one of Chris's long sleeved dress shirts to wear over her shirt to
protect her from the wind.She slowly walked down the rickey wooden stairs that
led to the beach. She wrapped the shirt around her protecting her delicate body
from the strong wind. "Maybe I should forget about Darien." she thought looking
at the faded blue horizon.
