Adamantine's Note:

This is an informal review written by my friend Koishii. She wrote this after watching the RK OVA and the RK anime's (supposed) last episode. Please note that the comments here are all based on HER opinion. Don't flame her (us) for being so anti-Tomoe. This is due to the fact that we are both stern believers in the Kenshin-Kaoru pair.

A simple glossary is provided for words or phrases you may not understand (if you are not Filipino).

Please address all your comments to ME.

RK OAV 3 and Ep. 95:An Opinionated Review

Thanks to Sony's RK page

Konbanwa! Okay, last email you sent me, you wanted me to tell you about the last RK episode. Not only will I tell you about it... I will review it for you (Nyahaha... you have no choice but to read this frigging review ^^).

WARNING: This review was written ten minutes after watching the said episode (and the 3rd OAV), three tall espresso and after reading Jessica Zafra's 4th Twisted for the entire day. Please be advised...

Okay first I'll tell you what I thought of the third OAV. It was... it was... (I'm having an ellipses seizure *hehe*) it was like seeing an entirely different anime (I'm overreacting, my adrenaline's shooting out of my nose). Parang, I threw everything I knew and understood of Kenshin's character right then and there. That's not Kenshin! That's a frigging kid being seduced by a slut! I should've seen that coming. I should've listened to you and miss the 3rd ep all the same... but then. Yes, I harshly proclaim Tomoe as a slut and fortify my belief that its better off that she's dead (nyahaha... the only thing that made me watch that part was the reassurance that that b***h will die eventually).

For crying out loud, I wanted to swat his hands off her and give Tomoe a lecture on adultery (though I read somewhere they're about the same age, or at least nearer each other's age than Kenshin and Kaoru). And what's more... she's fat! Not chubby ha... but FAT (I'm not in the mood to being kind). And the only thing that kept me from smashing the keyboard against the screen was the art. Yes... buti na lang the hitokiri look so different from the rurouni (who is still, by my standards, switches to babe-mode everytime he gets angry), its difficult to put the rurouni in place of the hitokiri in that scene. Ewan, parang the 3rd OAV started and ended in that scene. I wanted to shake Watsuki-san (no matter how big a genius he might be) out of his senses and force him to re-write the entire series with Kaoru born in the Bakumatsu and take that... that... hag's place.

Thanks to Homecomings for the image

Gomen for over-gesticulating and being so OA, I can't help it. Please refer to warning for explanation. Which now brings me to the "supposed" (I'll explain the quotation marks in a while) last RK ep. I have one word for this ep: "DUH". I read a spoiler somewhere on this ep (I think its Nicky Townsend's HP) and with the author seemingly reliable and know what she's talking about, I assumed it was true. I may have gotten things wrong on whether it was the anime or manga but what I know is... they should (Kenshin and Kaoru) be walking down a street or sumthing with Kenji, their supposed son. Alas, no Kenji turned up in the 25 min ep which all in all, when you take out the prolonged scenery shots, moments of silence... would only total for about 10 minutes, tops na yun ha. It was really short and para kang nanood ng MTV. In the ep, Kenshin and Kaoru went someplace to visit a grave (whose grave I have no idea whatsoever). Sano stayed in Megumi's house to pester her for dinner (since Kenshin wasn't around). Megumi agreed in the terms that Sano would do chores for her (like cut firewood and stuff). Yahiko, on the other hand, is helping out Tsubame and Tae for a re-opening of sorts of the Akabeko (I think Tae had a second floor installed). Kenshin and Kaoru stopped by the beach on their way home, to which Kaoru gave Kenshin this sea shell or sumthing. Then it rained. So they stayed for a while in a shack by the beach then went off in search for a place to stay since the night caught up with them already. So they got into a hotel... in one room.

At this point, I was giggling nuts. Smugly, in fact as I reminisce that ecchi from the 3rd OAV (I was still reeling from that blow, a real romantic scene between Kenshin and Kaoru would really be nice for me). I was bickering at Tomoe, Ha! your ex-husband will finally get laid and you're dead, I hope you're watching this! Kaoru was a bit nervous (this Kenshin also noticed) realizing that even if she has lived with him under the same roof for a year already, she doesn't really know him at all. After that... THEY SLEPT. At this point I was having seizures... Kaoru changed into her yukata behind Kenshin's back (hmm.. this is wrong, behind the back is front, ne?) and Kenshin changed while Kaoru looked the other way (though she did want to peek ^^). I finally realized that Kaoru is such a PRUDE! I wanted to beat her to her senses with a bokken (with Watsuki-san or whoever in Sony wrote the ep for being so KJ). My digressions in between scenes (when the plot shifts to Sano and Megumi) distracted me for a while but I remember Kaoru waking up in the middle of the night and seeing Kenshin's arm out of the blanket, extending towards her. I thought she'd tuck it back in (as my earler conclusion would ascertain), but... (I liked this scene, it was WAFFy) instead she extended her arm out of the blanket and placed her hand on top of his. Then Kaoru had a dream where Kenshin was bidding her farewell as he was to return to wandering. Kaoru woke up with Kenshin not by her side, his futon neatly folded. She found him on the beach where they were the day before. In her hurry to get to him, she tripped and Kenshin caught her. I can't remember the dialogues but Kenshin gave her a sea shell (ano yun parang they were already exchanging vows or sumthing? substitute sa engagement ring?). Tapos... they returned to Tokyo (?) by ship and was welcomed by the Kenshin-gumi. Fin.

O di ba... DUH. Parang, I wanted to pick up Watsuki-san's (or whoever wrote that ep) battered body (due to my previous beatings) and have him change the ending. "Supposed ending" because I'm still hoping that that can't be the ending... it was so, disappointing. No wonder most RK lemons are on Kenshin and Kaoru, their fans are seeking closure. They need to be comforted by the visage of Kenshin and Kaoru in a romantic situation (the closest of which, correct me if I'm wrong, was the farewell scene with all the fireflies). I am going to Japan and have Watsuki-san do the screenplay for the anime. At least in the manga I think, Kaoru and Kenshin clearly ended up together. Gomen, if I sound vapid and so OOC tonight (pass me my straightjacket). I am one of the millions of Kenshin-Kaoru fans who seek closure (when you watch this one, I think you'd be one too... seeking closure I mean) This sooo long already. I dunno when you'll get to read this since you're pretty busy, but I do hope when you read this ranting, you'd keep in my mind those stated in the Warning.

Gawd, that CD depressed the hell out of me, I need to see Tomoe dead na ^^. Bye for now, I'll watch na the 4th OAV. Thankies for reading, even if I sounded so... caffeinated?

Ash Wednesday Lee (on Ran Fujimiya: HE'S MINE! MINE! MINE! But I'd willingly share if you say please ^_^) p

post rantings: I watched na the 4th OAV (its 10:13 as I type) I'm happy that b**ch is dead and burnt no less. (Ha! take that... you... you...) Anyway, the "last" RK ep is giving me weird fic ideas which I will attend to as soon as I drag someone from the kffdisc to help me on details. *grumble* I need help. Professional help.
