Legend of the Excaliber - Chapter 6: Serena’s Birthday Surprise
Serena woke up in the morning to a smile on her face. She
managed to get some good sleep, despite the time she got home from her
fight with the now dead General Maverick. She looked up at her
calendar, which read ‘June 30th - Serena’s Birthday.’ Apparently Luna
was already awake, for she wasn’t on Serena’s bed, so she got up, and
got dressed. Serena got a bunch of happy birthdays from her parents
and her brother when she got to the dinning room, and had breakfast.
When she finished, she went out to Ray’s, saying the girls wanted to
give her, and Rini, a private party, since it was Rini’s Birthday
also, and that she should be home in time for the party at the house.
The party at Ray’s was a blast. All the scouts, Darien, and
the cats were there. Ray gave Serena a good luck charm, and Mina a
Necklace. Amy gave Serena a pack of 3.5" Disks for her laptop she
got from Goku on her 15th birthday, Lita a cooking lesson book, since
Serena’s cooking still needed some improvement. Molly gave Serena a
friendship bracelet. Rini gave her a colored drawing she’d been
working on since the day she arrived, and Travis gave her a book on
swords, since he had become an expert on swords. The outer Scouts,
though hadn’t known Serena for very long, chipped together and got her
a tower computer, which got sweat drops from the others until Haruka
explained they had more then enough to do so.
Shortly after Cake and Ice Cream, Serena left, with Darien and
Rini, putting Serena’s stuff in Darien’s car, and went to the park to
take a row boat out for a while. The trio enjoyed the quiet in the
middle of the lake for a couple of hours, before they went back in,
and Rini and Serena had to go home. So Serena and Darien parted with
a passionate kiss, and a hug between Darien and Rini, and they split
to their separate homes.
Serena and Rini got home about 4:00, and the entire family
went out to celebrate Serena’s and Rini’s birthday. The family
chatted happily about anything and everything for the entire stay at
Serena’s favorite restaurant for a few hours, and then went home. It
was a tiring day and Serena and Rini went to bed, after a few hours in
the living room to finish the family party. But little did Serena
know, that her day had just started, for she still had one more
surprise in stored for her later that night.
In the Negaverse, General Viper and Ironite were talking about
plans for Tokyo, and getting no where. The two couldn’t agree on any
plan for action. Finally, the two just split from each other to
formulate their own plans separately. "Hmmm," Viper practically
snorted, "Ironite has some nerve. Telling me I’m stupid at my plan to
steal the energy I think we need from a park. I’ll show him who’s
stupid around here." He gathered up his Youma and selected the best
one for his plan, but later decided to do this solo.
While Serena was having her day, so was Rachel. She was
trying to drag out what ever her secretive husband knew about Princess
Serena, "Will you just spit it out, and tell me what you know about
her already? I think I’m on a sugar rush from my coffee this morning
here."
Mark just smiled and giggled, "Well I’m not surprised. You
practically put a whole packet of sugar in your morning coffee today."
"Well, what did you expect, when a certain knight from the
planet Venus won’t spill the beans," Rachel said in a hyper active
tone.
"Why not just ask her your self? It’s still morning you know,
and, from what I was able to research about her, today just happens to
be Serena’s Birthday you know. So just.....," Mark stopped talking to
realize he’d been talking to thin air, for Rachel was already out the
door, and in the hotel elevator.
Rachel checked the Park, but didn’t see anything. She even
checked the Crown Cafe, the Crown Arcade, and, late in the afternoon,
the Cherry Hill Temple, where Mark said he say her last, but Princess
Serena was not in any of these places, "Darn, I knew I should’ve asked
him if he knew where she lived."
Finally, well after dinner time, she got back to the hotel and
went back to the room. When she walked in, Mark was sitting on the
bed, as he turned and said, "Now, as I was trying to say, before you
practically ran out the door. Why don’t you try talking to her
telepathically. You know you can do that with people in your own
family."
Doing a Homer Simpson imitation, Rachel brought her hand to
her forehead and muttered, "Doe." Mark cracked up at that, and fell
off the bed laughing his head off, and Rachel just stared at him a
little menacingly, "Very funny." She sat down on the bed, and, to the
on looker, she got some sort of trance like look on here face as she
tried to reached someone she felt a very deep bond for, ("Serena!!")
Serena bolted up right in bed. She looked around though and saw nothing that
could’ve produced the sound she thought she heard.
Luna thought she had the dream again and was about to ask more
about it, when she noticed, Serena didn’t have that pale look on her
face this time, "Serena? What is it?"
Serena looked at Luna, "I don’t know. For a minute, I thought
I heard something. Must be my imagination."
("Serena are you there?")
Serena looked left and right now, looking for the source of
the voice, "Now I know I heard something."
"I didn’t here anything, Serena," Luna replied.
Serena took a minute to concentrate before the voice boomed
again, ("Serena, are you awake, or do I need to send a mental blast in
to your head to do that?")
By this point, Serena’s eyes almost popped out of her sockets,
"Luna, who ever is doing the talking here is doing it in my head, and
the voice is definitely female."
Now it was Luna’s turn to have her eyes nearly pop out,
"Telepathic communication!! Serena, only the people of the moon, who
knew you very well, can do that."
"So, how do I answer them Luna," Serena asked. Luna then
began giving her a crash course in telepathic communication.
At Rachel’s and Mark’s hotel room, Rachel drew a grim look, "I
think Ray’s stubbornness has rubbed off on her. She’s not answering."
"Relax, she might be a little rusty at telepathic
communication," was Mark’s reply.
("Boy he doesn’t know how right he is,") said a voice in
Rachel’s head, which startled her at first.
"Serena, don’t listen on my conversations with my husband,"
she said out loud, after she set up a mental block to make sure Serena
didn’t hear any more details outside her mind. Mark just giggled,
before she continued, but in her mind, ("Princess Serena, is that
you?")
("First off, don’t call me princess. I ‘HATE' formalities.
Second, yes it is. Now who are you?")
Rachel mentally laughed, ("You haven’t changed a bit Sere.
What do you mean who am I? You should know that. Well, since you
don’t, I’d like to discuss that in person. Can you meet me in Tokyo
park near the fountain?")
("Sure, when?")
("ASAP!!")
("In the middle of the night? Well......... Sure, why not.")
Both ends of the link were turned off, and Serena got up to change out
of her pjs.
Luna was curious, "What is it Serena?"
"Someone wants to meet me in Tokyo park, now. Judging by the
sound of ‘her’ voice she sounded rather anxious," when Serena was
finished changing, she was in her old orange and blue uniform that
Goku gave her shortly after she was found on Roshi’s island, which
surprisingly still fit her. Serena tried talking to Travis before she
did anything else, ("Travis, are you awake? It’s Serena.")
All she got was, ("Not yet mother, just a few more minutes.")
Serena giggled, before she sent a blast of power over the link. She
didn’t need the link to hear Travis scream from next door, "WHAT THE
HECK WAS THAT?!?!"
("Travis, could you say that louder please, I don’t think the
United States heard you. This is Serena. I know you don’t know how
to talk telepathically, so just listen. Meet me at the park, by the
fountain, as soon as you can,") Serena cut the link, just as Mrs.
Tsukino came in.
Ellen say Serena dressed and was a bit curious, "Serena, why
are you dressed?"
"Possible Sailor business in Tokyo park, Mother. Someone,
capable of telepathic communication wants to meet me there."
"Serena be careful, ok," was Mrs. Tsukino’s pleaded.
"Don’t worry Mom. Travis will be there."
"Is that who woke me up screaming............. ‘Extremely
loud,’" asked Mrs. Tsukino.
Serena sheepishly grinned, "Ya, and I’m partly responsible for
that. Luna gave me a crash course in telepathic communication, and I
woke up Travis with it." With that, Serena, with Luna hanging on to
her back, went out the window, jumped on to her roof, and began
building up power. When she had enough, she began jumping from roof
top, to roof top at such a rate that she looked like a streak of
orange light bouncing off the roof tops toward the park, and was three
blocks from home in less then 3 seconds.
In the Solaris house, Travis just finished getting dressed,
and went out his window toward the park also. Apollo landed on his
shoulder, "Where are you off to, Travis?"
"Serena wants me to meet her in Tokyo park by the fountain.
By the way, can you give me a crash course in telepathic
communication, my sis has a nasty way of waking me up with it," the
falcon agreed and explained as much as he could on the way.
At the park fountain, Rachel and Mark were seated, awaiting
Serena’s arrival. Rachel was as nervous as a cat, "What do I say?
What to I do? She hasn’t seen me in who knows how long, and she
doesn’t remember who I am."
Mark was doing all he could to keep her calm, "Dear, you need
to calm down. You’ll make her nervous when she gets here. I’m sure
everything will......" He stopped when he saw something on the roof
tops, "What is that?"
Rachel turned to see what Mark was looking at, and say a
streak of orange bouncing off the roof tops, heading toward the park,
"I don’t know, but I think we should hide." Mark agreed and the two
hide in the shadows of the trees, and bushes.
The streak of orange finally bounced off the last roof top
across from the park, and land on the grass. It was still moving
incredibly fast, before it slowed down, and stopped at the fountain.
When it stopped, Rachel and Mark poked their heads out from behind a
bush to see a teenager, wearing an orange and blue pants, and shirt.
She was about 15 or 16 yrs old, and had blond hair up in two buns and
pigtails. It was the hair that made Rachel realize who it was and
whispered, "I don’t believe it. It is Serena, but she should be 9 or
10, not 15 or 16."
Serena sat down on the edge of the fountain, and looked
around, but saw no one, "Must have gotten here early."
Luna, who was on Serena’s back the whole way, finally got
down, and muttered, "Serena, PLEASE, don’t go so fast when I’m
clinging to your back."
"Yada yada Luna, just keep an eye out for anything."
"You mean like me, Serena," asked a voice from behind.
Both Luna and Serena turned to see a dark red haired lady
before them. She was wearing a white dress that didn’t cover her
shoulders, and attached to that dress was a brooch that looked similar
to Serena’s crystal star brooch. On her forehead was a golden tiara.
Serena was the first to speak, "Are you the one that woke me up in the
middle of the night?" The women nodded, and Serena asked, "Who are
you?"
Luna asked, before the women could answer, "Princess Rachel,
is that you?"
The women looked down next to Serena and saw a familiar black
cat, "Well at least someone remembers me. How are you Luna?"
Serena spoke up before Luna could answer, "Luna, you know this
person?"
Luna looked up at Serena and said, "Yes I do Serena, but you
better sit down for this. Your about to be shocked," She turned to
Princess Rachel, "I think you better tell her who you are."
Rachel nodded and approached Serena, and got onto one knee,
"Serena, I am Princess Rachel of the Moon Kingdom," Serena was shocked
before Rachel finished, "Your older sister." Serena almost fainted,
but managed not to. Rachel took off her Tiara, and the Moon symbol
was blazing on her forehead. Serena got her nerves under control,
when, all of a sudden, memories began to flood Serena’s head. These
memories, were of all her years with Princess Rachel, or Rach, as
Serena called her back then.
When the memories stopped popping in to her head, Serena
looked up at Rachel and only said one word before she embraced her in
hug, "Rach!!!" Rachel could only sit there and return the hug with
all her heart. Nearly everyone was in tears of joy by this point.
"Mind if I join in," asked another voice.
Luna turned and saw, "Prince Mark, so it was you the girls saw
yesterday."
Mark nodded his head before he turned to Serena, "It’s good to
see you again Princess Serena."
Serena stood up and said, "DON’T CALL ME A PRINCESS!!! I hate
formalities you know. So who are you exactly?"
Prince Mark laughed, "Serena you haven’t changed a bit. I’m
Prince Mark of the planet Venus. Your brother in law, and Mina’s
older brother."
Serena nodded happily, "Mina will be happy to know you again."
Just then an energy beam came out of no where and destroyed the
fountain. The shock wave, from the explosion, threw everyone a few
feet, before they got up and saw a Negaverse general hovering in the
air, and Serena said angrily, "General Viper."
The general just laughed, "So, are both you moon princess
brats ready to die."
Serena shouted, "Not on Your life pal. KAIO-KEN ATTACK."
Serena, to Mark and Rachel’s surprise, was enveloped in an energy
field that looked like fire, before she jumped into the air, at
lightning speed, and slammed into Viper’s stomach. Both fell to the
ground, but Serena landed on her feet. To the on looker, Serena
disappeared from the ground and reappeared just before she rammed his
stomach.
Mark and Rachel could only stare before Rachel said, "How did
she do that? She never had such a fighting spirit during the Silver
Millennium."
Serena, stilled having her kaio-ken attack powered up, did an
attack Rachel recognized from last night, "KAAAAMEEEEHAAAAMEEEEHAAAA."
She sent the energy blast at Viper. Unfortunately, Viper got up and
dodged the attack easily. With Viper’s back turned to them, Rachel
and Mark transformed, to Serena’s surprise.
"SELENE CRYSTAL POWER."
"VENUS KNIGHT POWER."
After Rachel and Mark transformed into Sailor Selene, and
Venus Knight, Sailor Selene said, "Hay, Viper. You ready to rumble?"
Viper turned to see Selene, and Knight ready to fight.
With his backed now turned to Serena, it was Rachel’s turn to
be shocked when Serena took out her brooch and said, "MOON COSMIC
POWER." Where Serena was now stood Sailor Moon, "Hold it Viper. I’m
Sailor Moon. The champion of justice. In the name of the moon, I’ll
punish you."
Viper turned to say something but was hit in the stomach when
someone else shouted, "SOLAR FLARE." Rachel looked to Serena’s right
to see ......... A male Sailor Scout?
Serena turned to Sailor Sol, "Your late, brother."
Travis apologized, "Sorry, sis, I was held up at 10th street."
Serena spoke up, "Well that was an impressive attack, but
here’s how you do a solar flare. Everyone cover your eyes." Sailor
Sol, Selene, and Venus Knight complied before Serena brought her
hands, palms open and fingers spread, to the sides of her face and
shouted, "SOLAR FLARE."
A blinding white light emitted from every part of Serena’s
body, and blinded General Viper, "AHHHHHHHHHH!!! You’ll pay for that
brat." With that, he teleported away.
With the threat gone, everyone powered down, and Rachel asked,
"Serena, why did you call this male scout your brother?"
Serena looked at Rachel, puzzled, "What, you mean you don’t
recognize your brother Rach?"
Rachel was in shock, "Tranquillity?!?!"
Travis grumbled, "I always hated that name. In this life
time, I am called Travis."
This got Rachel puzzled, "This life time?"
Luna cut in at this point, "Rachel, I think we better give you
a history lesson on the past one thousand years." Luna told Mark and
Rachel all about the destruction of the Moon Kingdom, 5 years after
they disappeared, Queen Serenity’s death, and the history of the
Scouts for the past 2 years.
Rachel was in tears, "So Mother is truly dead?" Serena nodded
and gave her older sister a comforting hug, "When we first saw the
Scouts alive and well a little over a week ago, I’d hoped she would
have survived some how." They all sat there, and recovered from all
the shocks, and terrible news for a while.
After a bit more Serena suggested, "Rach, why don’t you come
with me to my place for a bit. I believe my 20th century mother would
love to meet you." At Rachel’s nod, Serena turned to Mark, "Mina
won’t remember you but Artemis might if you want to go see her.
Here’s her address." Serena wrote it down and handed a piece of paper
to Prince Mark.
He took and said, "I’ll visit her in the morning. She’d
probably want to sleep right now." Turning back to his wife, "I’ll
see you tomorrow." Rachel nodded and Mark walked back to the hotel.
But before he was out of ear shot, Serena said, "Mark, meeting
at the Cheery hill Temple tomorrow at 1:00."
Travis turned to Serena, "I got to get home before MY mother
notices I’m gone. See ya tomorrow, to both of my sisters." Rachel
and Serena just laughed as Travis and Apollo ran, or flew, back to the
Solaris house. Then Serena and Rachel started the long walk back to
the Tsukino house.
On the way, Luna asked, "So, Rachel, what happened when you
disappeared, and how long have you been in the 20th century?"
"Well, the Crystal Phoenix flew through an unusual ion storm
about half way into the return trip. It wasn’t till we entered the
solar system that we knew we were no longer in the Silver Millennium.
Apparently, that ion storm was responsible for throwing us into the
20th century, and we’ve been here for about a weeks now."
"Where is the Crystal Phoenix," Luna asked.
"It’s being repaired at a secluded beach about 6, or 7 miles
from town. To get there, you have to do a little climbing. No car
can get anywhere near it. The terrain is too rugged."
"Repaires from the ion storm?"
"No Luna. When we entered Lunar orbit, we hit an old space
mine and was forced to make an emergency landing," was Rachel’s reply
to Luna.
Just then Travis sent, ("Serena, I just told Mrs. Tsukino your
coming with ‘a guest,’ and is preparing the guest room. Rini will be
sleeping with you tonight.")
("Thank you Travis,") Serena said in her mind before it
finally donned on her, "I completely forgot to tell you about Rini,
Rach."
Rachel asked, "Who’s Rini?"
Serena said, "Well, you won’t believe this, but Rini is from
the future, and well, lets just say your an Aunt."
Rachel nearly fainted at the unexpected news, and Serena told
Rachel all about the Nega moon war and why Rini is back. By the time
she finished, they reached the Tsukino house, and walked in, "Mom I’m
home."
"We’re in the living room dear," said a voice that Rachel
thought she recognized. When she saw who owned the voice she knew she
saw her before, about a thousand years ago to be exact.
Ellen stood up from the sofa and walked up to Rachel, "Hi,
I’m...."
Rachel interrupted, "Ellen Tsukino, It’s good to see you
again, it’s been a long time." Serena, Luna, Sammy, Ken and Ellen,
stared at Rachel in confession before Ellen spoke up, "I don’t
remember you."
Rachel just chucked a little, "I’m not surprised, from what my
sis here, and Luna have told me, the last time you saw me was over a
thousand years ago." At this, everyone’s jaws dropped to the ground,
even Luna’s, well, as best a cat’s jaw could anyway. Rachel laughed
again and gave one of her history lessons about Queen Serenity needing
to send Serena to Earth at a young age, 3 to be exact, and hide her
from the Negaverse, and wasn’t found again till she was about 7, and
during that time the Tsukinos took Serena in and raised her as their
own.
After hours of talking, a pink haired little girl came down
stairs and said, "You know, Mommy, everyone is talking too loudly, and
I’m........" Rini cur off her talking when she noticed a tall dark red
headed lady. Rini ran to her shouting, "Aunty Rach!!!"
Rachel picked Rini up and took her in a hug, "From what my
little sister has told me, you must be Rini." The little girl nodded
her head happily. The entire family was talking well into sunrise,
before everyone went to bed for a long rest.
