Seiya Kou makes his first appearance in the beginning of the Sailormoon Stars season (Episode 173) as the leader of the popular idol group, Three Lights. The members of Three Lights are Taiki Kou, Yaten Kou, and, of course, Seiya Kou, who are also the Sailor Starlights. Seiya-kun transforms using a locket shaped like a star (complete with wings ^.~) into Sailor Star Fighter. She attacks using "Star Serious Laser!". Seiya-kun is often seen wearing red - and I mean a LOT of red - such as red suit, red shoes, and let's not forget the red rose that sits in his pocket. He is athletic, flirtatious, and extremely romantic. We see him at school many times playing American football. Seiya is laid back and, Haruka would say, too indiscriminate about his taste in women. After transferring to Usagi's high school, he flirts endlessly with Usagi-chan, but doesn't pass up a chance to make a move on Michiru. :D Does that mean he is a lecherous character? No, but I think it's pretty funny that he tried to hit on Michi-chan, so I had to add that in there. ^.~ Seiya's flirtations are ignored by Usagi, who is heart-broken that her beloved Mamoru has just gone to America. Regardless, their friendship blossoms and a love grows. Usagi-chan cares for him deeply, but sees him as a friend, while Seiya admits, "Without even realizing it, I've fallen in love with you." He endearingly refers to Usagi as "Odango," to which her first reaction is to grumble that she's not a dumpling, but she later doesn't seem to mind. They become very, very close friends - Whenever you see Seiya you'll be sure Usagi is there or will be quite soon. The Starlights came are from a planet outside of the solar system called Kinmoku, which was destroyed by Sailorgalaxia during the Sailor Wars. The only survivors are the Starlights and Princess Kakyuu. Kakyuu was injured and disappeared, and the Starlights set out on a mission to find her and rebuild their planet. On Earth, they disguise themselves as idol singers, hoping to cover up their true mission and use their music to reach Princess Kakyuu. Anime In the anime, the Starlights were originally women, reborn onto Earth as men to find Princess Kakyuu. They became idol singers to disguise their true mission. They use their music to send a message to Princess Kakyuu. When they transform they change to their true forms - women. Manga In the manga, the Starlights are women - period. Three Lights were simply women dressed as men - no great sex-change transformation. ^.~ Also, the Starlights die in the manga Misconceptions What is Sailor Star Fighter's first name? Kou or Seiya? Kou. They all have the first name of Kou. They don't have the same last names, rather they all have the same first names. Still don't believe me? Seiya introduces himself as Seiya Kou. In Japan, last name comes before first name. The misunderstanding that they all shared the same last name has sprung the idea that they are brothers/sisters. Well, seen as how they were all born the same year on different dates, it would be mighty tricky of them to be siblings, ne? ^.~ Opinionated Where do I start? I *love* Seiya-sama - he is now my new animated love. X.x;; I am saying this %100 truthfully, I was incredibly disappointed that Seiya and Usagi didn't end up together. You probably don't believe me, but I was about to knock some Takuechi-sensei butt around. XD Then again, if Usagi and Mamoru hadn't ended up together, thousands of enraged fans would have gone and beaten Naoko with plastic Moon Rods. :P C'mon, let's get real here people! Seiya shows Usagi affection, and love, and praise. While Mamoru... scolds her. And Seiya went to see her just because he wanted to see her smile. Have you ever seen Mamoru do something sweet like that? Ok, ok, this won't be a Mamo-bashing session, because he is a sweety in the manga...sometimes. Seiya is incredibley sweet, and the way he treats Usagi just makes me wanna swoon. There is a part where he is walking by a picture of Usagi and Mamoru, and he snarls at it - not because he was jealous of Mamoru - but because he hated Mamoru for putting Usagi through any sort of pain. Seiya: 5, Mamoru: 0 Oh, and by the way...can I give a great big thanks to Chibichibi for the Seiya shower scene? >:D A note about Seiya-kun's seiyuu - done by the talented Niiyama Shiho, who died of leukemia in February 2000. My thoughts and prayers go out to Shiho-sama. <3 |
