A guide to Yahata apartments

The name 'Yahata' actually refers to a huge part of Kitakyushu, basically the entire western half of the city. However there is only one Yahata Station on the city's train network, and these two JET apartments are located very near to it (in fact only a 7 min. walk, the closest from any apartment to a station). The next station westwards is the second city centre of Kurosaki (5 min, or 10 min downhill bicycle ride), while eastwards is Edamitsu and Space World (see Kitakyushu map for location). These two apartments are smaller than most, with only a single tatami mat room. The actual apartment buildings are located in Maeda, but since that doesn't have a separate station (it doesn't need one!), everyone knows it as Yahata instead. The building has a very nice view of Mount Sarakura to the front, which can be climbed easily from here, and not-such-nice views of the Nippon-Steel factories to the back; unfortunately the back of the building is the balcony side!

Apartment details:
Your apartment should look like the 3D model above. They both have a western toilet, japanese-style bathroom (i.e. you wash outside the bath, then soak inside it) with shower fixture. Gas supplies heat for the hot water in the whole house. A small wash-room area next to the bathroom has a small washbasin, and also houses the washing machine. Note that washing technology in Japan is decades behind everyone else, and so no household tumble-dryers are ever found - after spin-drying, clothes can be hung on lines on the balcony. The kitchen/dining room always has a two ring gas burner provided by the BOE, and fridge-freezer. But not a whole lot else. Check to see what else is included. The tatami room can be opened up completely to the rest of the apartment by the removal of its sliding screen doors (as shown above), and the adjoining room has sliding glass doors leading to the balcony. The dining room and the genkan (entrance) both have considerable storage space, so clutter needn't be a problem. All together these apartments are an ideal size for one person to live in, and located in a well-connected town providing everything you might need for daily life.
