Supercop was Jackie's first movie directed by Stanley Tong, who later directed Jackie's movies like Rumble in the Bronx, and First Strike. This movie is filled with deathdefying stunts and amazing fast-paced fights. Jackie Chan plays Kevin, a detective. This is the third installment of the Police Story series. The movie starts off with Kevins Uncle and his boss discussing who should go on the very dangerous mission of breaking Panther, a drug dealer. After Panther is out of jail they want Panther to lead him to his brother, Chaibat, who is a major druglord. After discussing the mission, they decide on Kevin. Kevin tells his long-time girlfriend May (Maggie Cheung) that he is going to a rountine training camp. At first he does go to the training camp, to meet the Chief of Security Hana Yang (Michelle Yeoh) who is to pretend to be Kevin's sister on the mission. He greets Yang and they talk about the mission. Kevin needs to pretend to be someone who is paid to get Panther out of jail. His name on the mission is Lin Fu Sheng. Once the mission is planned, Kevin goes to the jail where Panther is being held, and he finds Panther and gets him out of the jail by climbing up a practically vertical hill. Meanwhile, Yang has to shoot fellow police men so the plan will not be ruined. When Panther and Kevin get up the hill they are forced to hang onto a handle and slide down a wire miles above the ground. When they are on the ground Panther thanks him, and invites Kevin to join his gang. Kevin and Panther go to a hideout, and they go to Kevin (Lin Fu Sheng's) villiage. Kevin has never been there before but soon people posing as his family members bring them to his house. Panther meets the family, along with Hana, Kevin's "sister", and Panther agrees to let Hana come with them, which was part of the mission. They all go to a resturant, where Panther's group is confronted by the police. Hana has back-up come, and after she frees Panther and Kevin, she pretends to shoot a police man. So Panther decides they are trustworthy and he brings them to Chaibat and then to the years opium crop. Chaibat does suspect that they are cops but lays off soon after. Hana and Kevin fly to the Island where the opium crop meeting is. When Chaibat arrives some argument arises. Mainly because Chaibat doesn't have the money for the drugs because his wive only knows the swiss bank account number where all his money is stashed, but she is in jail awaiting a trial, and says that she will give him the account number when she is freed. A shootout begins, and Kevin and Hana, who is strapped with dynamite, are in the middle. Chaibat hides behind Hana until she gets away. Kevin is forced to kill some people, and soon meets up with Hana. After the shootout, Kevin yells at Chaibat for putting a dynamite vest on Hana. Chaibat pushes him away, and emties one bullet into Hana, the vest wasn't dynamite, but it was bullet-proof. Chaibat forces the drug leader to come to his place and wait for his wife to be broken-out. So they fly to Kuala Lumper, Malaysia, and check into a hotel, which coincedentally, May is staying at too. The next day while Kevin and Hana are walking around outside, a few pictures were taken at them. May looks at the and recognizes Kevin. She looks around for him and Kevin sees her. He quickly lays down on his stomach and has Hana massage his back. Panther approaches when May tries to see if it's Kevin. Panther pushes her away, and soon goes away again. Kevin runs over to May and tries to explain that he is on a mission. She doesn't believe him and yells at him. Panther comes over again and kicks her into a pool, believing she is a hooker. Later in the hotel Kevin sees May again and tries to explain, May understands, and when she sees someone from Panther's group coming she slaps him and goes away. May then goes into an elevator with her friend and accidentally says that Kevin is a detective and he's on official business, Panther's partner overhears, and kidnapps May. When Panther learns of it he takes Kevin's gun and hits him. Kevin and Hana are forced to help them break Chaibats' wife out of jail. She had just been sentanced to death. When she is in the police car they begin the plan. Kevin tries to hold back a truck that is supposed to be holding deadly gases. It soon crashes into the police car and the smoke comes out of the car. He yells that it's poison gas to thepolice and most of thyem run. Hana comes out dresses as a nun and she kicks one of the cops, then Kevin takes out the other. The get Chaibat's wife out of the car. A helicopter hovers above with May screaming inside. Chaibat's wife runs into a car, and Chaibat drops May out of the helicopter onto a car. Kevin goes to help her and she says to go after them. Meanwhile, Hana jumps onto the van and holds on while the car speeds down the streets. She gets on top of it, with Kevin close behind in a car. Chaibat tries to signal that she is on the roof from the helicopter, they get it, and begin to shoot holes in the roof, Hana shoots back, and rolls off the car barely dodging bullets, and falls onto Kevin's car, crashing the windshield. Kevin and Hana run to the top of a building, and meet up with Panther, ready to begin a shoot-out, until Kevin realizes he dropped his gun. Hana yells at him for it, and Panther's partner overhears. They soon begin to fight, Panther looses his gun, and pushes Hana onto the slanted roof, she stops herself at the bottom, and Kevin pushes Panther on the slanted roof and he falls off. Kevin goes after the helicopter, which now holds Chaibat and his wife. Jackie then does a very dangerous stunts, he jumps off of a ten story building, and onto the swinging rope ladder angling from the helicopter. Kevin hangs on for dear life and is swung all around the buildings of Kuala Lumper. He knocks into a touring building, and then into a billboard. When the pilots see a train, they hover down so the train is rushing at Kevin. e climbs up just in time, and lets go to falls on a load of pineapples. The rope ladder gets stuck on the train, so they are forced to crash land. Chaibat falls out, and the final fight begins. Meanwhile, Hana who had stolen a motorcycle before raced after the train, she flew off a hill and landed onto the train. She is confronted by Chaibat and his wife, while Kevin fights the two pilots, one of whom is Ken Lo (Drunken Master 2). Hana tries to chock Chaibat during the fight, and he soon passes out. While Kevin takes Ken Lo out by distracting him before he get smashed by a sign. Kevin finds Hana, who is trying to help Chaibat's wife who had fallen between the train. Kevin grabs Hana's hand just in time, and Chaibat tries to throw them over. Before he could a bridge comes and smashes the helicopter into him. Kevin, Hana, and Chaibat's now widow, are safe, and Chaibat's widow gives them the account number.
Supercop was very action packed, Chan looked death in the eye more than once in this movie, and he got out of the movie untouched, almost. One part of the movie Jackie is supposed to be hit by a train spout, and then he is to be pulled by a wire to cirle all the way around and land back on the train. However, the wire snapped, and the prop helicopter smashed into Chan's shoulder, breaking it. He also was knocked unconcious while on the helicopter ladder, luckily he had a wire on him. I think this movie deserves and 9 out of 10, this movie is definetly worth a look.
