For a long time, this river (Sungai Stenggang) was the main source of water for the village. The river is now very shallow from heavily siltation from logging and road construction activities upstream. Around the 70's gravity-fed water supply was installed in the village. The gravity-fed water comes from the nearby mountain, Dorod Donan (Gunung Udan). During peak periods the water pressure is very low. This is especially so on Sundays and public holidays when people stayed in the village rather than stay at their farm houses.

After many years of waiting, the government finally supply Kampong Stenggang with piped water from Bau. This is a blessing for many, but it will also mean for the first time the villagers will have to pay for their water consumption. Many villagers have water storage tanks in their house for storing rain water. This reduce their water bill.
