X Character Files are 7 CDs which contain the voice drama of the
various X characters plus some background music. Each of them has
two files of two characters. There is the 8th CD which is a
collection of soundtracks from the previous 7 plus some pictures.
And X Character File 5 is by far the best-selling CD among them
all. The popularity of Kuzuki-san is just irresistible! (Help!
Shiyu-san is coming to beat me for not crediting him! Wuuu...

This piece of translation is my own effort with reference to my Chinese translation, which has partly rendered from the X manga of the Taiwan Tohan Company. Yet, since different translations are based upon the same original script, similarities could arise.

Kakyou's Monologue
I am dead.
Though my body is still warm, my heart still beats, I must be dead.
Life or death is not determined by the warmth of the body. Just like warm blood is still ruuning through me, but "the mirror" of my heart is already shattered, nothing can be reflected any more.
I don't have any feelings.
I don't have any needs.
I don't have anything, for I am already dead.Before,
I could raise up my hand to touch the sky,
listening to the whisper of the waves under the sun...That was...
when I was still alive...
when that person was everything in my life.Time does not go back,
but people always wish to return to the time when they had happiness.And I... could not accomplish any wish by myself.
I can only keep on sleeping,
dreaming ceaselessly of the days when I was with that person...
alone.This is only known by that girl who had appeared in my dream.
A girl with beautiful eyes and smile...
A girl born with the ability of a "Dream Seer," but had never known that she had possessed it.I saw in my dreams the future.
The future of the Earth.

Kotori's Dream.
Kotori kept falling down into a dark pit.
Kotori (scream) : Aaaaaaah!
Suddenly there were two threats coming from above, tightening around her wrists, holding her back.
Kakyou : Watch out... You won't be coming back again if you keep falling down like this.
A voice coming from nowhere.
Kotori : Who's this...?
That voice did not reply.
Kakyou : Over here! Come!
Those threats continued to pull Kotori upwards. Kotori did not resist, and she ended up in another dark realm. She saw a bed there. She walked slowly towards it, not knowing who was in there.
Kotori : Who... who are you?
An answer sounded from the bed.
Kakyou : ... A dream traveler...
Kotori : ... Travel... Dream...?
Kotori did not understand what he meant, but he continued his saying.
Kakyou : You were almost carried away by your dream! You must have encountered something very horrible so that your heart has refused to wake up.
Kotori : ... Am I sleeping right now?
Kakyou : Your "heart" is.
Kotori : ... "Heart"...
Kotori could not think clearly because she was in a dream. She did not even think of questioning something as irrational as a bed floating in the air.
Kakyou : You were born with the ability of a "Dream Seer." If you don't awake that ability, you will go on being unconscious.
Kotori remembered the reason why she had been falling after listening to what he said, and she wept.
Kotori : Mother... she...
Kakyou : Even in a dream you saw horrible things. You almost got yourself ruined.
Kotori: Did you save me?
He did not answer, but did not deny it either.
Kotori : Thank you...
Perhaps she had now relaxed herself and become grateful, much tears were running down her cheek. He saw this, and therefore sat up in his bed.
Kakyou : ... Don't cry... Or else, you will be sinking into the "Ocean of Tears" again.
Kotori : ... "Ocean of Tears"...?
Kakyou : Didn't you almost get drown? That was the tears that ran in your heart!
Kotori understood what he meant and wiped off of her tears accordingly.
Kotori : Why are you lying on the bed? ... Are you ill?
He became silent.
Kakyou : ... I am just like you, sleeping... until... "the day when the end of the Earth is decided."
Kotori : The end... of "the Earth"?
Kakyou : That's right. The decision which determines the path of this Earth.
Kotori : By whom?
Kakyou : ...
Kotori became happy talking to him.
Kotori : May I come closer to you?
Kakyou : ... All right...
Kotori walked towards the bed. Just when she had touched it, her surroundings became the seashore, and there was the sound of the waves, and sea birds were flying in the air.
Kotori : ... This place is...?
A voice sounded from behind. Kakyou was standing at her back.
Kakyou : This is my "dream"!
Kotori : Yours...? Then this is your dream?! But I thought I was in my dream a while ago... (Note: this is slightly differently from the manga)
Kakyou : That's because you are also a "Dream Seer," so you can travel from dream to dream as well.
The sea birds flew close to Kotori, and she felt happy about it.
Kotori (to the birds) : Hello! My name is Kotori ("little bird"), too!
Kakyou : Kotori... what a pretty name!
Kotori : May I know yours, too?
Kakyou : Kakyou...
Kotori : Ka... Kyou... You also have a nice name! (This does not appear in the manga)
Kotori smiles at him.
Kotori : ... Will you go on sleeping like this?
Kakyou : ... Only until the "foreordained day," I supposed.
Kotori : Don't you feel lonely here?
Kakyou : Since my "heart" died a long time ago, I won't feel lonely whatsoever.
Kotori became sad because of this.
Kotori : How come... Don't you have anyone you would like to see again?
Kakyou : ... The person I would like to see... does not exist in "this world" anymore... not in any "world"...
Kotori could not help but embraced him and cried.
Kotori : Poor you... You must like that person very much! I understand... you heart is crying... That heart-broken feeling... I can feel it....
Their hearts became synchronized, and a sharp noise like metal knocking at each other rang until Kakyou stepped away from her.
Kakyou : ... No, if your heart goes on in resonance to mine, you will die from the shrill pain at your "heart".
Kakyou looked into her eyes when he talked to her.
Kakyou : ... You... know "Kamui," right? Because our hearts were in synch, your thoughts have been transferred to me too... You also... are related to "the end of the Earth".
Kotori : Kamui... Kamui-chan...?
Kakyou : Kamui... and another person...
Kotori : And... another person?
(Note: The following are quite different from the manga, skipping a lot of things about Kamui.)
Kakyou held Kotori's hand.
Kakyou : Go! Time for you to go back now. If you don't return soon, your "heart" will die.
Kotori : ... Go back to where?
Kakyou : To the person you love.
Kotori began to float as wings grew from her back.
Kotori : ... Kakyou!
Kakyou pressed on her out stretching arm.
Kakyou : We will meet again.
Kotori gradually flew upwards.
Kakyou : But... the day we meet again... is also... the day you die.
(Note: According to manga, Kotori had met Kakyou more than once before she died.)
Some day later, the sound of waves was there again. (See X9 pp26-37, but not quite the same though)
Kakyou was standing right behind Kotori. Kotori is dead in the real world. Kakyou had just stopped Fuuma from killing Kamui through Kotori's dead body, using his Dream Seer's powers. However, Kotori was now completely isolated to the real world.
Kakyou : ... Is this... fine with you?
Kotori : ... Thank you.
Kakyou : ... Though I had foreseen this... I can only remain dormant at the side of "Kamui" the Dragon of Earth until that "foreordained day" arrives... Although I know the future... I cannot change it... couldn't save you either...
Kotori shook her head, smiling.
Kotori : ... Thank you very much indeed...
Kakyou was surprised at her response.
A pair of wings grew from Kotori's back, larger than before.
Kotori : I... must leave now... I can't see Kakyou anymore... right?
Kakyou : A person dies and cannot be brought back to life... You... and that person I want to see are the same like so.
Kotori watched him sadly, feeling sympathy towards him because he had revealed to her his feelings for the first time.
Kakyou : ... In the hope of seeing that person... I could not even kill myself... All I can do is to wait for the end of the Earth and have my wish come true.
Kotori : ... Kakyou...
Kotori rose up slowly.
Kotori : ... Please... tell this to... my brother and Kamui-chan... that "I love them"... Also...
"The Future has not yet been decided"...
Kotori flew away eventually. Kakyou watched her leaving.
Kakyou 's Monologue
I am able to know the future, and I foresee the tragedies that will happen.
However, I cannot save even one soul with such power.
That person... and, the girl who was called "Kotori"...
Also, all the people that will die in this battle.
She said : "The future has not yet been decided."
The vision seen by a girl with a Dream Seer's ability in her final moments.
Was what she saw correct? Or will the future have but one?
I will remain dormant at the side of "Kamui" the Dragon of Earth until that "foreordained day" arrives...
hoping that the girl's vision was correct...
wishing that I could meet that person again sooner....
The final legend of Earth has now begun.
