*** Last year of the Silver Millennium Calendar ***
"We're in trouble!! We're in trouble!!"
Two cats, one black and one white, both with crescent moons on their
foreheads, ran to the center of a grand ballroom with cries of desperate
warning.
"The Earthen Forces are attacking us!!" the white cat yelled.
A woman standing near the throne turned her head to face them, her long
white hair swinging behind her. "What?!?"
*****
Millions and millions of years ago, long before the known prehistoric age
of the Earth, a grand kingdom stood on the surface of the Moon. Under the
supreme rule of Queen Serenity of the Moon and the help of the sacred
Ginzuishou, the citizens of this great kingdom prospered and its
neighboring planetary kingdoms flourished, creating an era of peace known
as the Silver Millennium.
It was thought that the Silver Millennium would last forever.
Unfortunately, fate had decreed a terrible destiny . . .
*****
A young princess was flanked by a group of four warriors, the leader almost
pulling the princess violently in the rush to get her to safety.
"Stay here, Princess!" the orange and white clad warrior said as she pushed
the princess inside a room.
"But, Venus . . ."
"This is for your own safety!"
The warriors ran off, leaving a green and white clad warrior behind. She
looked sadly at the distressed princess. "Please forgive her rudeness.
She's only doing what's right."
The princess shook her head. "Don't leave me here! Please! I need to speak
to him!"
The warrior looked away. "I'm sorry. But at times like this . . . I follow
orders coming only from the commander and your mother."
"Jupiter!"
The warrior pushed the massive door closed, effectively silencing the
princess's pleas.
*****
One night, a great ball was held on the Sea of Serenity, where the domed
Moon Kingdom lay. The citizens of the Moon were so engrossed with the
festivities that they failed to notice that they were under attack . . .
*****
"We were not ready for this!!" one of the four warriors said, her once red
and white fuku now all red with blood - her blood. "Why now?"
The leader of the once formidable Sailor Senshi cursed her weakness as she
slammed her fist into the ground.
"Venus?" the blue and white clad senshi asked weakly, trying to focus her
tired eyes on her fellow warrior.
"That creature got us with just *one* hit, Mercury!!" the downed senshi
whispered angrily in a withdrawn voice. "We're not strong enough! We're not
strong enough . . ."
Another curse echoed, this time from the green-clad senshi. The four looked
up to see their princess and her prince fighting for their lives.
*****
Caught unprepared, the Moon Kingdom faced destruction under the hands of an
evil entity known as Metallia, who, alongside her regent, Beryl, made the
forces of Earth believe that their protectors on the Moon were deceiving
them. The people of the earth revolted against the Moon Kingdom, the
citizens on the Moon unaware until it was too late.
*****
The princess looked on worriedly from her room's terrace, watching as the
powerful dark force that overtook them slowly destroyed her mother's
kingdom.
A woman with long curly red hair suddenly appeared before her, her red eyes
gleaming in anger. "So, *you're* Princess Serenity!"
The princess gasped.
Beryl watched her enemy intently for a moment. She looked very much like a
frightened child, which disgusted Beryl further. She raged silently. Her eyes became slightly unfocused as her
mind tried to ignore the fact that being unique was not the only thing
appealing about the princess . . . she also possessed a certain type of
beauty that Beryl could never match . . .
"Your beauty disgusts me!!" The evil witch cried out before attacking.
A rose disrupted her path before she was able to hurt the princess. She
looked up and saw a young, black-haired man covered in Earthen armor.
"Endymion!"
The prince stood in front of his princess on a terrace, protecting her from
the witch that stood before them. "Beryl! You're only being used by
Metallia! Wake up! Come to your senses!"
Beryl's gaze focused again.
"Shut up! Or do you want me to hurt you too?" she threatened . . .
. . . a threat which was eventually fulfilled by the evil entity, Metallia.
In seconds, the prince was in the air, dragged violently away from his
princess. But the young girl refused to be away from her lover as she
joined him.
"No! Don't come any closer!" the prince shouted.
The princess didn't listen.
The prince knew that it was hopeless to ask her to go back, so he reached
for her hand.
The princess managed to touch his hand.
The prince smiled sadly and held to her tightly.
In a distance, a mother and queen watched as her entire life was taken away
from her.
*****
With nothing left for her to live for, Queen Serenity sacrificed her life
as she used the sacred Ginzuishou to seal the enemy away . . .
*****
The queen's body lay on the ruins of the Moon Kingdom, her hand raised in
the air. The Ginzuishou rose from her open palm and disappeared.
All around her, bodies of those who died in a worthless war rose and
floated gently to the forsaken blue planet next to the once magnificent
kingdom of the Moon.
"On Earth . . . please be happy . . ."
Queen Serenity's body grew limp, and she died.
*****
Just before her death, Queen Serenity used her remaining strength to send
the souls of her daughter, Princess Serenity; her lover, Earthen Prince
Endymion; and the respective princesses of each planet to Earth to be
reincarnated and given new lives. The two cat ambassadors and advisors to
the queen, Luna and Artemis, were placed in a long sleep, to be awakened
with a mission when the evil awoke once more. This was all brought about in
order to help the souls find the happiness that they were looking for, and
to protect mankind from any danger that might arrive.
But unknown to both Queen Serenity and Metallia . . .
*****
A young nobleman stood at the edge of a small, dome-protected land. Face
grim and eyes sad, he stared at the lone satellite of the blue planet, the
satellite of his birth, as its majestic kingdom crumbled into ashes.
A woman laid a hand on his shoulder, trying to console both of them from
the pain of losing their home. "We survived . . . it's a miracle . . ." she
said.
"The queen has used the sacred Ginzuishou. Somehow, it decided to protect
us," the man said, turning his head to face her. "But . . . the Moon
Kingdom is gone. We have nowhere to go."
The man returned his gaze to the Moon, the woman's gaze following his, as
they rested their eyes on their home for the last time.
"What do we do now?"
*****
A huge piece of Lunar earth from the Sea of Serenity floated endlessly
among the debris left by the war, carrying hundreds of survivors from the
attack of the Dark Kingdom. Using the resources left to them, they entered
what was supposed to be "hibernation" as the mass of earth and rock drifted
into unknown space . . .
After many millenia, the people reawakened to find themselves in an
unfamiliar part of the universe. Now having lost the force that was once
known as magic, they were forced to rely on the remaining resource left to
them: technology. Harnessing this awesome power, they succeeded in
recovering magic in the form of mana and created another homeland, one that
was to replace the one they lost. In the span of a decade, the people were
able to establish a kingdom that rivaled the Moon Kingdom in terms of
prosperity. This kingdom was to be known as the Lunar Kingdom, named in
honor of the late Moon Kingdom, and the desolate piece of earth turned into
a beautiful city, Lunar II.
For hundreds of years, the Lunar Kingdom was hidden from the eyes of evil
and came under the rule of descendants believed to be distant relatives of
the Moon's Royal Family. Colonies were established in different asteroids
surrounding the city, and the people enjoyed peace and prosperity similar
to that of the Moon Kingdom. But this second utopia did not last long.
Approximately 500 years after its establishment, the rulers of Lunar II,
all descendants of the noblemen from the Moon, took the period of
prosperity for granted. They became arrogant and abused the powers given to
them due to their noble ancestry. For many years, the people suffered under
the rule of their harsh leaders, who were very unlike their ancestors, the
ones who had originally established the kingdom.
*****
After Millennium 0519, Euterpe Colony. . .
A middle-aged man looked silently at the other men seated with him around a
large, round table in an enormous, domed room within his palace. Having
reached a decision, his eyes narrowed as he scanned those who were with
him, governors of some of the various colonies that were established by the
tyrant monarchy, Lunar II.
"We have suffered long enough."
Standing up, the middle-aged man addressed those who were seated. "Lunar II
has gone far enough with its atrocities. We shall not continue to take this
sort of treatment from them!"
"Dechem-sama, then, you mean. . ."
"Yes," the middle-aged man interrupted. "I am declaring war against the
Lunar Kingdom."
Some of the other men nodded in approval, while some others grunted their
consent, as though it did not matter much to them . . .
. . . but Dechem was not fooled. He knew that the governors were simply
controlling their reactions, perhaps due to their old age, or for
formality's sake, but he knew it was not due to any sort of fear or
hesitation. It was no secret that they had long desired a chance for
retribution, and were simply waiting for Dechem to give it them.
Giving a regal tone to his voice, Dechem continued, "For many years now, we
have suffered under the oppressive rule of Lunar II's monarchy. We have
stood quietly as they carelessly exhibited their power and conceit at the
expense of our people. Shokun, today we will begin to provide a "suitable"
response to their tyrannical rule - a response that will lead to their
downfall . . ."
. . . and eventually, our salvation. It is only a matter of time before our
oppressors receive the punishment they deserve. By then, they will learn to
cower before us. They will learn the true power of OZ!"
At this, the other men seemingly forgot all formalities in their
anticipation and enthusiasm at the thought of freedom, as they stood up,
applauding. Undisguised awe and respect was evident in their expressions
and actions as they turned to the man whom they believed would be the one
to lead them on the path of freedom.
The middle-aged man smiled in spite of himself.
The man laughed.
*****
The rulers of Lunar II eventually detected the increase in arms production
of the colonies, but by the time they had realized the colonies' intent and
decided to strengthen their arsenal, they were already too late. . .
*****
A man in his late twenties glanced at his holowatch and leaned back. He was
sitting on a bench in a designated waiting area of a hyperlight transport
station. Opening his metallic briefcase, he took out a small, circular disc
and placed it flat on the palm of his hand. As if alive, the small disc
hummed and projected a hologram of the list of available hyperlight
transports that could take him home to his colony, Clio. So far, all of
them were fully booked.
At the thought of food, his stomach grumbled loudly,
loud enough for the elderly woman sitting beside him to turn her head and
stare at him. Sighing deeply, he stood up to get something to eat.
He had not taken more than two steps towards the food dispenser when the
ground suddenly shook violently beneath him. The sounds of huge explosions
filled the air. Regaining his balance, he looked up just in time to see an
enormous, green, piloted robot - a Man Machine, the man deduced - land in
the middle of the area. Its pinkish-red mono-eye swept over the crowd as if
surveying them. Then, without warning, the green Man Machine raised the
machine gun it was carrying and started to fire indiscriminately at the
crowd.
As the whole area erupted in chaos, the man looked wildly around him for
the nearest possible exit, ignoring the panicked people rushing around him.
Spotting the red, flashing sign that read "Emergency Transport," he dashed
towards it, only to trip over something and fall face-down on the floor.
Scrambling to his feet, he gasped. The object that he had tripped over was
a body . . . rather, the body of the elderly woman that had been staring at
him a few moments ago. Blood covered her face and half her body was
missing. Her eyes were staring at the domed ceiling of the transport
station, completely devoid of life.
For a moment, he could not tear his eyes away from the sight in front of
him. Then, he felt the ground shake again and heard the sound of a huge,
metallic footstep stopping behind him. Turning around, he saw the green Man
Machine, flanked by others like it, its rifle pointing at him.
The man closed his eyes.
The Man Machine fired . . . .
*****
After Millennium year 0524 of the Lunar Kingdom calendar, OZ formally
declared war on the unprepared Lunar II. Using brutal tactics and giant
humanoid machines known as Man Machines, they had succeeded in capturing
almost 65% of the colonies surrounding Lunar II in the first few weeks of
battle. Shocked by their casualties, the leaders of Lunar II, having seen
the overwhelming might of OZ's Man Machines in comparison to theirs, sent
an ambassador in search of help.
*****
Neo-Queen Serenity leaned forward on her throne, her hands gripping the arm
rests so tightly that her knuckles turned white. "Survivors, you say?"
The four warriors in front of her stared at the deliverer of the news,
their faces registering shock. Three other warriors watched from a
distance.
"That's impossible . . ." the black cat beside the queen said softly.
"There was no one left . . . only me . . . Artemis . . . the queen . . ."
The ambassador shook his head. "It's true. All the people in my land are of
Lunarian blood. How would we know of your past if we were not informed by
the rich history our ancestors have shared?"
"But how . . . ?" The senshi in red asked.
Serenity sank back into her chair as she listened to their visitor's story.
*****
Several hundred years after the legendary warriors of the solar system, the
Sailor Senshi; the crown princess of the Moon Kingdom, Princess Serenity;
and the crown prince of Earth, Prince Endymion were reborn on Earth, they
were able to establish a second Silver Millennium, with its revolving
around its center, Crystal Tokyo. The kingdom was able to prove its
strength by surviving two wars spearheaded by the wanted criminal Nemesis
during its younger years. Under the rule of Neo-Queen Serenity and her
king, Endymion, the citizens of the nine planets of the solar system were
once again experiencing a utopia of peace.
Lunar II became aware of the rebirth of the famed Silver Millennium when
scouts were sent back to the solar system to investigate the remnants of
the old kingdom. The ambassador traveled to Earth not only to inform
Neo-Queen Serenity about the survivors of the ancient war and of Lunar II,
but also to negotiate an alliance. Unfortunately, OZ had also learned of
this visit.
The leaders of OZ, assuming that Neo-Queen Serenity would ally with the
Lunarians due to their blood relations, hatched a bold plan to eliminate
their would-be enemies. The operation's code name . . . "Operation Meteor"
. . .
Author's Notes:
Marj: Before anything else, I want to put this down before we forget . . .
Japanese translation notes:
Shokun - everyone (formal)
Okay, okay, so it's only just one, but at least I get to tell everyone what
it means instead of leaving you all in the shadows!
Chibi_Imp: Yeah, take the editor out of the shadows too. I actually thought
it was similar to "shogun". = )
Fizzy: I thought it was like "shoukan" . . . General. ^^;
Marj: And now for the *real* "Author's notes" . . .
The REAL Author's Notes:
Heero: . . . *sigh* . . .
Duo: Well, that turned out to be more difficult than I thought it would be
. . .
Heero: . . . Ah . . .
Duo: Whoo . . . I hope we have given you a good insight on the history of
Lunar II, the war between it and OZ, and also the origin of Operation
Meteor. Email us at for comments and criticisms.

Marj: Difficult to pull off, but worth it! If he hoped that he gave you a
good insight on the history of Lunar II and stuff, I hope that you liked
the scenes I inserted in between, as well as the paragraphs I added to
clarify a few unexplained things. In other words, I brought life to the
dull looking story plot that Heero sent me . . . now Heero, don't look at
me like that! I was just joking!!!
E-mail me at for your comments and constructive
criticism. Got any flames? Send them over to him . . . (pointing to Heero)
Heero: *glares*
Marj: Aaargh! Just kidding!!! (again!) We're co-authors - we should both
take the blame! (happy?)
Fizzy: But not the editors, ne, Chibi-Imp? ^_-
Marj: Okay, Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon, its characters and its wondrous
story are owned and created by Naoko Takeuchi, and its animation and manga
copyrights are held by Toei Animation, Kodansha, Nakayoshi, etc. etc. etc.

(excluding the Gundam stuff - look at the disclaimer above!) are mine,
mine, mine!! . . . and some are yours too, Heero . . . Anyway, if you take
them, I'll have Heero ride on his Wing 0 and go after you!! No really,
please, Heero and I thought long and worked hard to come up with a decent
story line, so have a heart and don't take work that doesn't belong to you
without permission, okay?
Chibi_Imp: Somebody give Marj her tranquilizers . . .
Duo: *hands Chibi_Imp a dozen of 'em* Here ya go.
Fizzy: Uh-oh . . . Here we go!
Chibi_Imp: *holds it warningly against Marj's face* As your editor, I must
warn you against scaring the readers with outbursts like that. Got it? Ok,
be nice now . . . *POKE!*
Marj: But . . . but they were sooo serious, I just couldn't help it! I . .
. I . . . zzz . . .
Fizzy: Marj? Uh . . . Marj? Wake up!
Duo: You mean that psycho freak there's too serious. *points at Heero*
Anyway, time to end this Author's Notes. Ja ne, minna! *closes the curtains
before anyone can say anything*
