TWO BEDS AND A COFFEE MACHINE
=============================

The vid starts off in the middle of the night with Darren waking up. The
lights are off. Darren sees the time (it's around 4 a.m.) and gets out of the
bed (he's alone), walking towards the dressing table. He takes a photograph
and a rose and walks towards the room next door.

At this point the song starts (it was silent earlier). At the words "Slowly
she opens the door", Darren is seen opening the room's door, and he morphs
into a visibly distraught lady who's checking on her children. She wakes the
children up - one is a little boy - and tells them to pack up. She then
leaves the room and picks up some broken glass (the line would be "Pick up
all the broken glass") lying on the floor. She morphs into Darren, who's
picking up a small piece of paper on the floor. He then walks out of the
house and stands at the door. He morphs into the lady, who's herding the
children into the car. The boy looks bewildered, like he's not too sure what
is going on. He morphs into Darren, who enters the car. As soon as he enters
the driver's seat, he morphs into the lady, who's clutching the steering
wheel. On her arm is a bruise (the line is "Another bruise to try and hide")
which she covers up by rolling down her sleeve.

She looks behind and sees the boy, still with that 'what's-going-to-happen'
look on his face. At this point it's the chorus, and the boy morphs into
Darren, who's driving the car and singing. The photo (it's facedown) and rose
are on the dashboard. It's dark and the roads are empty. The headlights are
dim. It's a starry night, yet there's a feeling of emptiness reflected on
Darren's face.

At the line "And there are children to think of", Darren looks at the back
view mirror, and the view morphs into 3 kids - a girl, a baby and the boy. At
the line "Baby's asleep in the back seat" the camera zooms into the baby, who
is fast asleep on one of its sibling's lap. The girl and boy are looking at
the window, too afraid to ask what's going on. The car drives towards a motel
with a sign advertising its dirt cheap rates. Part of the sign reads "TWO
BEDS AND A COFFEE MACHINE" (this will come when the words are sung). The
motel is next to a 24-hour grocery store. At the part "But there are
groceries to buy" the lady enters the store, and as soon as the door is swung
shut the lady morphs into Darren.

Darren buys a number of groceries (while singing the chorus) and exits the
store just as soon as the chorus has ended. He enters the car and drives off.
As the violins play (in the song - there aren't any violinists in the vid),
it starts to rain, and the windshield wipers are in motion. At the line
"Another bruise to try and hide" he morphs into the boy who's lying in his
bed (they're at the motel) looking out into the night sky (it's raining too)
wondering if there will be a better life. The boy's hope reflected on his
face is shown during the line "But there's hope in the darkness" and by the
next line he moves away from the window. He morphs into Darren, who's still
driving.

Darren stops at a gate, gets the photo and rose out and walks inside. As he
walks inside (the chorus is playing but he's not singing it) it's evident
that he is walking in a cemetery. He stops and kneels at a grave just as the
song hits the line "Wonder how I ever made it" with the rain falling on him.
He places the rose and photo on the grave, still kneeling as he braves the
downpour.

The camera zooms into the photo, which is of the lady that appeared many
times in the vid. It zooms back into Darren, who morphs into the little boy
who's kneeling next to the bed, praying. The lady, according to the story, is
Darren's mother. Darren was the little boy.

This vid is open to many possibilities. Daniel could be the character who
just appears everywhere, even if he's not playing the same person. Or he
could be the piano player in the motel. Or he could be Darren's younger
brother (the baby or another young boy) who follows Darren to the cemetery.
Then it could be that when Darren looks at the rear view window to look at
Daniel, Daniel morphs into Darren's sibling with Darren Jr beside him. It
could even be a totally unrelated actor playing Darren's role. Either way, it
works.
