By Sailor Nena
Darien stepped
into a beautiful beach house at sunset carrying his bride. Her beautiful long
blond hair hung lazily from her head, and her flowing gown radiated with
ecstasy. Darien had never felt happier: she was finally his wife. He took her
past the colorfully decorated living room to their bedroom. He laid her
carefully on the bed. "After all we’ve been through, we are finally
together my sweet Serenity."
"Oh, Darien, I have
never been happier." Serena giggled as Darien kissed her neck.
"I love you."
"And I you." They kissed
passionately.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Darien awoke in a cold sweat. Serena
was still dying and he could do nothing to help her.
"Oh Sacred Fire, answer…answer my pleads. Tell me how to stop
w-w-w-what is going on." Rei could hardly chant. She could tell that she
was inflicted with her friends’ disease, but she did not want anyone to know or
worry. "Please fire, I beg of you."
The fire turned white as it burst towards the ceiling and Inferna
stepped out of it. "I do not judged mortals on the basis of good and evil
but on the basis of how well they have serve me, and you Rei, priestess of the
Sacred Flame, have served me well."
"Your-your voice…you were the voice from my vision! Who-what are
you?"
"I am Inferna, goddess of fire, I will grant you the knowledge that
you seek."
"Can you tell me how to help my friends?"
"They are having their energy drained away by the Negaverse.
Everyone in the city is, slowly enough to avoid detection, but efficiently
enough to kill the Sailor Scouts. The monster you must face is in the center of
the city."
"Wait! Can you…Can you make us strong again, so we can face
the monster?"
"I’m sorry, but I have also been weaken by this. I can only save
one."
"Then…" Rei was about to collapse. "Serena, she can…save
us…with the cris-al" Rei collapsed, and Inferna covered her with a white
flame.
"I am sorry Rei, but you will die if I do not do this. You are the
one I care about; your friend does not worship me." She disappeared
leaving Rei in stable condition, but too weak to do anything.
"Rei have you seen…REI!" Her grandfather ran to her
side. "CHAD! Hurry we have to take her to a hospital!"
He frantically screamed.
Sergio walked towards me in the hospital. The bags under his eyes made
him look ten years older, but he still had enough strength to carry on.
"Has their been any change?"
"Yes," I answered him, "Rei is now among them, but I do
have some good news." I quickly added when he tried to whine.
"I just have one question I need answered…how are you? Dr. Liza explained
that if her DNA theory is correct, you should have been the first to fall
because the other half of your DNA is not only alien, but plant as well. The
drastic difference should have killed you by now."
"Yes it should’ve, but you forget two things, one, plants can
generate their own energy, and two, the book provides me with the needed energy
to go on for some time." I said in an annoyed tone.
"So, you are safe?" he tried to affirm
"For the time being. Anyway, I do have some good news. I know what is
the cause of all of this." His face brightened. "It’s the
Negaforce." The bags quickly returned. "They are at the center of the
city, so get Darien and lets go!"
"I think you’re wrong there, Nena." Darien stepped out of
Serena’s room rubbing his eyes. "Look," he gave me the day’s
newspaper, "according to that map the majority of the people getting sick
are no where near the center of the city."
"I don’t understand, Inferna said it was the center of the
city." I mumbled. "This makes no sense!" Sergio led me towards
the chairs and sat me down.
"Life doesn’t make sense. Nothing ever does. Now, we have two
choices, go to the center of the city and see what happens or go to the out
skirts and check that out. What do you think we should do?" He looked at
Darien.
"I don’t know, and we don’t have the time to waste! Where ever we
go, it has to be the right place." He answered. I began to feel
lightheaded as the book stopped giving me energy. It could no longer sustain
the two of us. I knew I would fall soon. My eyes fell lazily over the map one
last time. My blurred vision allowed me to realize something.
"I KNOW WHERE TO GO!"
I screamed excitedly. Someone shushed me in the background. "The last
time the Negaverse attacked was a thousand years ago. If I am right, they still
have the old maps, which places the center of the city 5 km from the outskirts
of the city!"
"That explains the map." Darien muttered. I jumped up ready to
stimulate the two into action, but instead I was punched with a fist load of
wooziness. She took a false step and fainted into Sergio’s arms.
Oh, I should introduce myself; I am the Book; I am capable of taking over
whenever she is indisposed, but enough about me.
The boys took her to a nearby empty bed. "Lets get the sons of
b!+©he$!" Sergio uttered angrily. Darien nodded in agreement.
As the young heroes rushed to the rescue, another hero was working on a
plan of her own. Serena was in a deep state of consciousness, which allowed her
to talk with her mother, Queen Serenity. "Where are we?" She asked as
she looked around the Wild Gardens. "This looks so familiar, specially
that weeping willow."
"We are home, my daughter. I brought you hear to show you a, for
lack of a better word, safety-device in you armor. When are you the most
powerful?"
"As Sailor Moon, of course."
"Wrong, your strength is at its peek when you are Princess
Serenity, and you can reach this state in one of two ways: by becoming very
strong, or very weak."
"Like I am now?"
"Yes, do not fear this state, with it, you will be able to fight
battles without ever putting foot on a battlefield; you will be able to assist
your friends without ever lifting a finger. You will be able to defeat an army
of evil without leaving your bed, and so will your friends."
"But, how?"
"You will soon learn. Just relax, and let the tiredness take you.
Do not fight it." Serena did as she was told, and a bright light
surrounded her body.
"I understand!" She quickly concentrated and sent a
telepathic message to her friends. "Guys, stop struggling. Let it take
you." The girls did as they were told, and soon they were emerged into a
bright light. No explanation was needed anymore. They were one body, one force,
one warrior, and one woman. They had joined their powers into one and were
ready to show the Negaverse what they were made of.
Darien and Sergio were struggling against a large ball of light draining
energy out of everything in sight, leaving them on their knees. They were in what was once a beautiful
forest; now, it is a cemetery with dead and decayed trees at the foot of every
grave.
“How do we fight something that will absorb anything we throw at it?”
Sergio asked as he tried to get on his feet.
“By destroying what controls it.” Darien groaned.
“WHAT CONTROLS IT? I’ll have you know, I am a Negaverse General, and you
two are dirt!” An angry Deorosse
exclaimed. “BLACK FLAME BURN!” Deorosse threw black ball of fire on the weakening
boys. She had managed to absorb most of
their energy before the fight, and now, they were at her mercy.
“ARGGGGGG!” Tuxedo Mask screamed as he came into collision with another
of Deorosse’s fireballs. “Have to keep
fighting! Have to…for my friends…” he said thinking in particular about Serena. “Sailor Moon, where are you? We-we need
you!” He screamed inside.
“AAA!” Deorosse screamed as a glowing disk hit her stomach. “Sailor
Moon? Where are you?” She gasped in
anger.
“You should know better than to attack an entire city! I am Sailor Moon, and in the name of the
moon I will triumph over evil and that means you!” Her voice seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere at the same
time. A white glowing entity with
Sailor Moons silhouette appeared in a nearby tree. “I am MARS, VENUS, JUPITER,
MERCURY, NENA!” Each name seemed to be the echo of the previous. “TOGETHER WE WILL DEFEAT YOU!” The girls where speaking in one voice, for
they were one body, and as one body they prepared to fight.
“BLACK FLAME BURN!” Deorosse sent a huge black fireball at them, but the
girls fired back a red one of equal size and strength to cancel the first.
“Mercury Bubble Blast!”
“You can’t fool me!”
“Jupiter Thunder Crash!” Before
Deorosse could escape, she was caught in Jupiter’s trap. She had to release most of the energy to
escape, and as the energy returned to their rightful owners, the scouts
disappeared.
“Are you all right?”
“Yeah, but I can’t say the same about my ego.” Tuxedo Mask replied as he
stood up. “I’m used to doing the saving.”
How was your nap? Restful I hope.” Darien asked politely.
“Yes. Why?” she gave him a strange look, wondering why he was being so
civil.
“Because you have allot of biology to catch up on.” He smiled as Serena
groaned.
Two weeks have passed since we all returned to school and our
routines. One person in particular now
worries me. Sergio is so bent on
finding his sister that he does not think how finding out she is adopted can
destroy her entire world. She is not
ready for what is to come, and neither is he.
I walked into the computer lab to find Sergio trying to hack his way
into the orphanage’s records in order to find his sister. The only other person in the room is Darien,
typing some report. I take a deep breath
and prepare to do one of my best performances.
“Hey handsome, whacha doin’?”
“Nothing!” he quickly answered.
“A bit nervous for nothing, doncha think?”
“Always in the presence of a beautiful lady.”
“Thank you.” Taking advantage of
Spanish tradition, I gave him a kiss on each cheek, and while he was busy
receiving his kisses, I restarted the computer damaging beyond repair the disk
with the program he was using to hack.
I walked away and sat on the other side of the room, which was set up
with six rows of computers, interrupted in the center by an isle. I was by the windows, and he was by the
door. Darien was somewhere in between.
Sergio did not react at first.
Then, he came over to my computer and whispered, “You know who she is
donchu?”
“HUH? WHO? WHAT? WHEN? WHERE?”
“MY SISTER, AND STOP PLAYING GAMES!” His whisper became harsh.
“I will not let you find her until you are both ready!” I whispered
back. He pushed his chair closer.
“You don’t really know me, or what to make of me, so what gives you the
right to play God?” he asked too calmly for comfort.
I leaned closer and replied softly, “My better judgment.”
“OK, break it up you two; you’re going to get me into trouble!” Darien
yelled across the room. Sergio took
this as the signal to return to his seat.
“Do you wish to finish this over dinner? Lets say Friday night around
seven?” He asked me like you would ask
someone for the time: knowing you are going get what you just asked for.
“That sounds like a date.”
“That would be because it is.”
He smiled seductively at me.
“Then I have to respectfully decline.”
I smiled back.
“Why?” he asked surprised that a girl was actually able to resist
his manly charms.
“Because I don’t want to, besides you are my fighting instructor.”
“So?”
“It could be dangerous to date the guy that has permission to beat
you.” The guys began to chuckle. Sandra, Tinisha, and Veronica came in. “There you are!” Tinisha screeched “Hiding?”
“You should be!” Veronica took over. “You missed the guys swim team
tryouts.” She turned to Sergio. “You
were great, did you get call back for today?” He nodded. The all circled me like vultures circling
their prey. “He was.” She whispered.
“Like a…a Greek God.”
“Chiseled and delicious[i]!”
Tinisha giggled.
“Eight-pack and all.” Sandra
took over. “I wonder if he is available.”
“He is.” I answered in a matter-of-fact
voice.
“You’re kidding!” They screeched
so loudly that the guys looked up. “How
ya know?”
“Because he asked me out to dinner.” I whispered. They giggled with anticipation.
“Would you stop gossiping over there? It is rude to those of us working
over here.” Darien said in a monotone
voice.
“So when is the date?” Tinisha
whispered.
“Never.”
“YOU TURNED HIM DOWN!” They screamed in shock.
“GIRLS!”
“WHY?”
“Because she is taking herself to a nunnery.” Sergio answered. “I take
it you haven’t changed your mind.”
“You got it.”
“Too bad, I’ll just have to take it out on you during your
practice. You see, it is also dangerous
to turn down the guy that has the right to beat you up.” He smiled and winked to let me know he was
kidding. He collected his things and
left, but before leaving he turned and said, “You know, I never met a girl
quite like you. I think it will be fun
trying to seduce you.”
“You speak as if you were going to win.” I replied smiling defiantly
“I always win.” He said as he stepped
out of the door. I was immediately
flooded with three voices yelling at me how much he wanted me. Darien proceeded to kick us out of the lab.
“Should I go in or no?” Serena
wondered. She was in front of Darien’s
apartment, and she could hear the voice of a hysterical girl on the other
side. She had taken the risk of coming here
because she was in desperate need of tutoring; now she wished she had called
first.
“Hi, can I help you?” a warm voice asked her. She turned around to she a nineteen-year-old college student with
raven black highlighted hair, dark black eyes, fair complexion, and a figure to
die for. She was at least five seven
and looked friendlier than an ice cream sales person.
“I’m not sure…I came to ask Darien with some help with my bio, but he
seems to be busy.” As to confirm Serena’s
point, a vase kissed the wall behind her.
“Oh, that? That is nothing. You see, Darien has dated her for two weeks,
which means he can’t stand her anymore, and therefore, they are breaking up.” The
girl smiled. “You must be Serena, I am
Monique. Would you like to wait for him
in my apartment? I live right next
door.”
“Thanx, but how do you know my name?”
“Darien and I are great friends; he told me he was tutoring a girl in
bio, so I put two and two together. He
also said you were sick and had to be hospitalized. How are you now?”
“Much better, thank you.” Serena
blushed. At that moment, the door burst
open and a gorgeous irrational red head came out of the apartment threatening
Darien with his life. When she saw
Serena with Monique, she assumed Serena was her new replacement, so she raised
her hand and smacked Serena. Actually,
she tried because the minute Serena realized she was going to hit her, she
blocked the blow. Screaming a string of
gibberish, the red head got into the elevator.
Monique knocked on the open door and went in. “You know, someone with your experience, should be better at
breaking up.”
“Very funny. What was the sudden
silence interrupted with more singing from that banshee?”
“Nothing much.” Darien, who had
been picking up the pieces of the broken vase, looked up for the first time
when he heard Serena’s voice.
“What are you doing here?”
“Just came to see if you could go over some concepts with me, but it
seems I came at a bad time.”
“No! Gi’me a minute, and I’ll be right with you.” Darien picked up the last pieces of the
broken glass and threw it in the trash, and then he approached Serena, who was
still in the doorway. He motioned her
to join him on the couch; she shyly accepted.
There was something in his eyes, something vulnerable that drew Serena
to him. She was bewitched by his eyes,
and he by hers. Something had sparked
between the two of them, though neither would ever accept it.
Sorry for
the delay, but my AP courses took up a lot of my time. I hope you enjoyed this part. E-mail me your comments as always at sailor_nena1@oocities.com. Thank you.
