Romance Radio

This is DJ Bryan, coming to you at the hour of love. Boys, get close to that special girl because this one goes from my heart to you.

Darien lowered the radio. It was close to midnight, and he had been tossing and turning all night. All the rainbow crystals had been found. He wasn’t sure what was next, but this wasn’t on his mind. Neither was the Princess that haunted his dreams. He was preoccupied with another girl. "What makes you tick, Meatball Head? Who are you really? Sometimes you are such a crybaby." An image of Serena crying on the floor because he had teased her filled his mind. "Other times…" A picture of Serena defiantly teasing and threatening him in front of Peggy flooded him. "How can you be so strong and so weak at the same time?"

Darien turned off the radio. He changed into his running clothes. "You’re not sleepy, Darien? Well, I’ll make you sleepy." He put on his Walkman and headed for the door. "I forgot my tape. Oh well, the radio will have to do."

"What have I done to deserve this? Isn’t there anything else on?" He turned off the radio and headed for the elevator.

Well, girls, waiting for that special guy to tuck you in. No, I’m not talkin’ about your dad. I’m talkin’ about him. So why don’t you girls sit back, relax, and let a pro sing you to sleep. This is DJ Lena coming to you live from the top of the Tokyo Tower, and you’re listening to 99.9 LOVE FM.

Serena stepped inside her room. She had been looking at the moonless, starless, night from her balcony. She was drawn back inside her room by the voices of whom she considered to be God’s gift to women. "If he only were like you guys. You know how to make a girl feel loved." She sighed. "I hated him for teasing me. I loved him for defying me." Serena laughed at herself. "I sound like an old love song.

"Raye says she’s no longer interested in him, but what about him? How does he feel? How does he feel about me?"

"If he only would." Serena sighed. She threw herself on the bed and drowned herself in the song.

That was "I wanna be with you" by the Backstreet Boys. We are celebrating their upcoming concert, which is, of course, sold out. This is DJ Brian for 101.8 Moon FM, where only the songs worthy of the moon are played. We are going to take a small commercial break and come back with more Moon worthy songs, so don’t go away, and remember tell her you love her with more than just words. Dedicate her a Moon worthy song. I will personally read the love message.

"About time that stupid song ended. May be I’ll be able to jog now." Darien complained as he stepped out of his apartment building. He wasn’t used to jogging this late, so he wasn’t sure were to go. "Too late for the park. I should stick with the better-lighted streets, though a good fight might just be what the doctor ordered.

"I wonder what you’re up to, Serena. You’re probably sleeping like a baby." An image of Serena sleeping in an old fashion brash bed wearing a nightgown out of the eighteenth century filled his mind. "She does look like a princess, at times." He began to jog down the streets with a million thoughts, which had only one thing in common in his head.

"She is a close friend of Raye.

"She has such dreamy blue eyes.

"She is only fourteen.

"So was Raye.

"Raye wouldn’t stand in the way!

"Does she even like me?

"Would her father approve?

"I wonder where she gets her sapphire blue eyes?"

"Argggg!!!" A frustrated Darien changed the radio station. "Can’t you see I’m trying to forget her?" He moved the dial without patience until he got another clear signal.

BUT WHY IS FATE PLAYING SUCH A CRUEL TRICK ON ME? WHY MUST THEY SING THE WORDS I CAN’T SAY TO HER? SERENA IF YOU ARE LISTENING, THIS ONE IS FOR YOU."

"If only I knew for sure how you felt…I would not waist time jogging, but you probably hate me. I teased you only because I loved the way your eyes turned to fire. I didn’t understand my feelings in time. Oh Serena, if you only knew."

Serena had changed the stations on an impulse, and she found herself hearing the same song again in Spanish. She never listened to the Spanish stations, but she felt an unearthly impulse she could not resist, as if he were asking her to. She didn’t speak much Spanish, but she new the lyrics so well, that she sang along with them.

"But if he were interested, should I give him a chance? I mean, Raye left him because of Chad, not because he hurt her. May be he wasn’t given the chance to..."

"May be it’s for the best." Darien thought as he jogged down the street. "Serena is so young. Without knowing it, she could hurt me. I could hurt her. She could turn out like all the others. They pledged their love to me, but pledged their lust to the guy ‘round the corner. But, is Serena like that?"

"You are such a mystery, Darien? But how can I get to know you? What do you hide behind those icy blue eyes of yours? Is their any way to learn this?"

"Who are you, Serenity of the Moon? What secretes do you bear? How can I know you? How can I trust you with my heart?

"My life feels so lonely without him. I wonder how he feels about me?" Serena changed the station back.

"I could show you the meaning of being lonely. That’s what I am right now." Desperate tears began to fall from her cheeks. She dug her face in her pillow and tried to forget.

"IF ALL MY WISHES ‘WILL BE DONE,’ I WANT HIM HERE, LOVING ME, HOLDING ME!" She sobbed into her pillow. "I WISH HIM HERE!"

Darien turned the corner into a suburban neighborhood. The harder he tried, the harder it was to erase her from his thoughts. "How do you feel about me, Meatball Head?" He wondered desperately.

"Serena, is that you? Are you calling me?"

Darien came up to Serena’s house. He recognized it immediately. There was a light in Serena’s room. "Are you waiting for me? Do you want me to come?" He saw a dark figure in a baseball cap jump from her balcony. "Who is he? The guy ‘round the corner?"

"Hey there, whatcha doing out here at this hour." Darien said as he watched the figure turn towards him. It had moved skillfully through the side of the house and was about to disappear into the night, when Darien decided to start a conversation. He could not mistake those sapphire blue eyes.

"Darien, hi! I a…um…I sortta needed some fresh air and…here I am." She laughed nervously.

"Isn’t that why you have a balcony?"

"I needed something more."

This is Bryan coming to you live from the Tokyo Bay Plaza. If you haven’t kissed your girl good morning, then what are you waiting for? Darien swallowed hard.

He took her cap off, and watched her hair fall in waves out of its seclusion. "Anything in particular you are escaping?"

"No." She answered. Her lips were so tempting.

We are back from commercials. We were just listening to "Show me the Meaning of Being Lonely." This is Lena, asking you girls, what are you waiting for? Kiss the guy if he won’t his you because there is no one like him. Here is "Nobody But You" from the Backstreet Boys telling you why you should make the first move.

Serena felt the ground fall beneath her. She had cried, and she had lied for him. There was nobody else that made her feel the same way. She looked at him, the sweaty out of breath gift from God. She had never felt her body go ablaze until that moment. He was there. She was there, and the song was just right. Even the radio DJ knew it. "I feel like we’ve been through this awkward moment of silence before." Serena broke the silence.

"I know, but it was so long ago, I don’t even remember why it was awkward." He moved closer to her. She began to lose her breath.

Serena could not take anymore torture. The song was right. She needed his help to get through the night. As soon as she found enough strength, she was going to kiss him.

"NO! I CAN’T LOSE HER!" He thought desperately. "I need to make her mine."

"Grow up Serena! Kiss him and get it over with." She reprimanded herself. She searched for his lips as he searched for hers. They found each other’s midway, and they allowed their passion to break lose. His arms pulled her closer; her hands raced up his neck. It felt so right.

When the kiss was over, they did not know what to say. They were both equally to blame, so they did the only thing they could. They kissed each other again. Skillfully, he took off her jacket kissing her neck and shoulder. He didn’t like kissing her in the middle of the street as if he were stealing her. Her room was too dangerous because her father could walk in, but his apartment was too far away, so he took her to the only place he could. He took her into his arms.

"I don’t want to lose you." He finally whispered into her ear.

"I don’t want to lose you either!" She whispered back. "There’s no one like you."

Lena smiled at the control both. The love of her life was there, holding two cups of coffee. "Bryan," she kissed his cheek, "you got off early?"

"For you, anything. So how is my only serenity?"

"Wondering."

"What?

"If her shield sent her a message tonight."

"Nothing gets by you, but don’t tell me you didn’t send the "I Need You Tonight."

"I did. How did you get the name Darien?"

"I don’t know. It was the first thing to pop into my head. The second was Endymoin, but that would be too obvious."

"I would’ve know immediately that the message came from Moon FM." She kissed him softly and took her coffee. "So we sent out two love messages for two people that do not exist."

"It probably didn’t change much. It most likely went unnoticed." He took her into his arms and let her out of Tokyo Tower.

Serena and Darien stayed in each other’s arms, holding and loving each other, as 99.9 Love FM and 101.8 Moon FM filled the airwaves with the story of the night.
