Poetry about Batman/Bruce Wayne
The following poetry is about the main man himself(no, not Lobo...) Batman! And not Azreal, or any of those other imposters. These poems deal with the man named Bruce Wayne, whose parents were taken from him by a mugger, and who swore to avenge his parent's death by becoming the costumed crimefighter Batman!
A hiaku about Batman by Locust Lord
Flying Bat on high
Cloak of night, it's shadow cast
It cannot find peace
"I am a Man" by The Expert
I am the shadow, I am the night
I am Fear, and feared throughout the land,
But under the mask and beyond the Bat,
You’ll find that I am still a man.
A man has a heart. I have one too,
But I keep mine locked inside
So the world cannot see the pain and the fear
That I feel, but have to hide.
I may seem cold, heartless, and unfeeling,
But my stony exterior is only a fake,
A shield, a mask to hide the hurt.
I have a heart, and it can break.
A man can feel grief and anger and pain.
Those are all things I know well.
They were all that I felt and all that I knew
The night my parents to a thief’s bullet fell.
Fear and despair are no strangers to me.
You may think them out of place
In a hero’s heart, but I tell you my mask
Hides more than just my face.
A man can hate with a burning passion
That consumes him, body and soul.
It fills his heart and mind and life
And takes complete control.
A man also can love with a passion that strong,
And as a result, be loath
To continue being who he is.
I have done both.
I am the shadow, I am the night
I am Fear, and feared throughout the land,
But under the mask and beyond the Bat,
You’ll find that I am still a man.
Untitled poem by Samantha V., and is dated 5/2/99.
A solitery dark figure
stands on the edge
of a building
He looks up into the
blood red night sky
to see
a circle of white light
surrounding a giant black bat.
The dark figure
knows he is needed
In a single, swift move of his shoulders
the dark one's cape
reclines onto his back.
He lifts an arm into the air
and sends a silk cord flying
Knowing he will not fall
the dark figure
leaps off the building
and glides into the night
toward the criminals
who fear-the Batman.
"World of Madness" by Samantha V. It is dated 12\23\98.
Gunshots
Fire
Bright lights flashing,
against the darkness
Running
Shouting
Screams
Falling
Fighting
Punching,kicking
Alarms
Explosions
Running,panting
Jumbled thoughts
Confusion,chaos
Thugs,rogues,
villans,criminals
Wounds
More gunshots,
more screams
In the night
jumping from roof top to roof top
Blood red skies,
blood on the pavement
Injustice and hate
Welcome to my nightmare,
welcome to my world.
"Tears in the Night" by The Expert
Tears in the night that no one sees
Come falling, falling from his eyes.
Hidden 'neath a shroud of darkness,
Alone with his pain, a hero cries.
What is happiness? What is joy?
A life of pain is all he's known
Since his world was rent asunder
And the night claimed him for its own.
A scream, two shots, a splash of blood;
Even after all these years,
In his mind, he still can see them:
Pearls falling like rain, like tears.
A little boy looks on in horror.
A suffering man cries out in pain.
Both shed tears that trickle down
And mingle with the falling rain.
In minutes, all he's ever known,
His life, his world, is torn apart.
His tortured soul cries out for justice.
A thirst for vengeance fills his heart.
In rage, he vows to spend his life
Bringing justice to evil men.
He will ensure that what happened to him
Will happen to no one else ever again.
He dons a cloak of night and shadow,
determined to face this trial.
Afraid to love again, he lives
A life of pain and sad exile.
Sometimes the pain becomes to much,
Too great for him to bear.
He wonders what good he's really done,
And he falls into despair.
But despite the endless heartbreak,
He knows he must keep up the fight.
He hides his pain, but still he weeps
Secret, silent tears in the night.
"Knight Rising" by Braveknight
"The darkness is a smothering shroud
where hope and despair walk hand in hand,
yet in its' velvet folds each night
an avenging soul is born to wage the
neverending fight."
