Introduction
------------

There's a Slayers RPG available for the Japanese market, but this
document is in not a conversion of its rules, nor the system employed by the
Slayers computer / console RPGs. The rules are intended for CARDS use only,
but the actual stats will be employed in the making of another module for the
FUZION system. I need more information on the Slayers RPG books, so if you
can help, please contact me.

This document contains the main rules for a Slayers game using the
CARDS system. I am still writing several individual quests for Slayers.

For those of you unfamiliar with Slayers, it is a fantasy world
created by Hajime Kanzaka. It made its debut in Dragon magazine (not
associated with the Dragon magazine in Europe) as a short feature entitled
"Prince of Seyruun".

It won 2nd place as a novel (no.1 was unclaimed), and soon
gained popularity. More novels and several television series sprung up,
followed by several comic series, animated movies, video features, and
computer games. Its product line is still growing.

Here's a list of the current Slayers series released:

Lina & Phillionel:

	ORIGINAL SLAYERS MANGA
-Features Lina and Prince Phillionel. The characters are very
different here. This is the first Slayers manga released.

Lina & Naga:

SLAYERS MAGIUS & TRPGS (6 RPGs)

	SLAYERS PERFECT (Movie)
-Lina and Naga's journey back in time, where Lina met Gourry
Gabriev's ancestor and changed history with the Sword of Light.
	   Lina is 14 years old.

	SLAYERS SPECIAL (3 OAV & 12 Novels)
	  -Lina and Naga's adventures.

	SLAYERS DELICIOUS (2 Novels)

	SLAYERS RETURN (Movie)

-Lina and Naga's quest for an ancient elven artifact.

	SLAYERS GREAT (Movie)
-Lina and Naga come to a city a golems and get caught up in the
local politics. It comes down to a supremacy fight with one
	   another.

	SLAYERS GORGEOUS (Movie)
-Lina and Naga come to a city where dragons run rampant, and end
up facing off against each other.

	SLAYERS EXCELLENT (3 OAV)

Lina & Gourry:

SLAYERS MANGA (1 Special Volume by Rui Araizumi)
-The 2nd manga series, a collection of short stories.
Lina is a bit more mature here, and she has two mysterious dots on
her forehead. Gourry is also smarter. Lina doesn't cast Dragon
Slave, nor does Gourry use his Sword of Light here.

SLAYERS (26 eps TV series & Manga Series by Shoko Yoshinaka)
-Lina meets Gourry and the others. Defeats one of the resurrected
parts of Shabranigdu, Rezo and his clone.

	SLAYERS EXTRA (Radio Drama)
	  -Follows the novels.

	SLAYERS ROYAL (SS/PS Game)
-Strangely enough, Gourry and Naga meet here, but Amelia doesn't
get to see her. Lark the elven youngster appears here.

	SLAYERS ROYAL 2 (PS Game)

	SLAYERS NEXT
-Lina goes after the clair-bibles, each listing a very powerful
spell. Xelloss the enigmatic priest joins Lina's group.

	SLAYERS NEXTRA (Radio Drama)
	  -Follows the novels.

	SLAYERS RPG (SNES Game)
-Lina and Naga get frozen in ice. Lina's clone along with a few
characters from the novels must save them.

	SLAYERS RPG 2 (PS Game)

SLAYERS TRY (26 eps TV series)
-The barrier enclosing Lina's homeland is broken by her. She and
her group ventures into the world beyond, each with their own
	   agenda. Firia sought their help.

*SLAYERS AGAIN/FOREVER (26 eps TV series)
-The latest series. Gourry has lost his sword of light.
This is also the final series in Slayers anime.

----------------
WORLD BACKGROUND
----------------

Long long ago the Lord of Nightmares created the multiverse. She
created many worlds, and a greater god to rule over each. In the world where
Lina's story takes place, there emerged two races- both of which desire
absolute control: the Kamizoku (gods) and the Mazoku (demons).

The Kamizoku and the Mazoku fought for control, and an epic conflict
ensued (The Ko Ma Senso) which ended when the demon king Ruby-Eye Shabranigdu
was slain by the Red Dragon God Ceiphied (Sylphid) at the gate of the worlds
with the aid of 5 weapons of light.

The dragon god cut Shabranigdu's body into seven parts and sealed
them in several places across the world so that the king of the Mazoku may
never rise to bring terror upon it again. The Ryozoku (dragons) continued
the fight against the Mazoku.

The gold dragons destroyed the ancient dragons, and in doing so rose
to become the dominant dragon race. The gold dragons, led by their council,
continued battling the Mazoku while the other dragon races degenerated into
barbarism. Only one ancient dragon staggered out of the slaughter, and was taken into the
demon lord Gaav's service. He was slain and reborn, taking on the name of his
demon master as Valgaav.

In one particularly fierce battle, the Mazoku Xelloss single-handedly
decimated the gold dragons, eventually creating a stalemate between both the
Mazoku and the gold dragons.

The series begins ages after the great conflict between Shabranigdu
and Sylphid. Lina Inverse, an aspiring black magician of great talent from
Zefielig is confronted and later joined by a strange woman who calls herself
'Naga'. Their travels are chronicled in the Slayers Videos and Movies.

A year later, a powerful mage by the name of Rezo unknowingly becomes
an instrument in the awakening of one of the seven parts. Thus begins the
first Slayers series. Lina teams up with the mercenary Gourry Gabriev and
Rezo's descendant and test subject for mutation experiments, Zelgadiss.
Zelgadiss hates Rezo for what he has done to his body and actively searches
for a cure. Gourry's acquaintance Sypheel, and the princess of Seyruun,
Amelia join in the fight with Lina against Rezo soon afterwards.

In the second series, entitled 'NEXT', Lina sets of in search of the
legendary 'clair-bibles' rumoured to possess great magical lore. It was in
this series when Xelloss took an interest in Lina. Apparently the demon lords
were warring amongst themselves and attempting to seize power.

The island of Lina Inverse's birth was cut off from the rest of the
world by a magical mazoku barrier which kept all the magic within it. Thus,
Lina's part of the world is incredibly strong in magic, while the rest of the
world had little. Lina soon changed that when she destroyed the barrier in
'NEXT'.

'TRY' begins when Lina leaves her homeland to aid the Golden Ryuzoku
in preventing the invasion of a demon-king from another world. Firia appears
and guides the bickering adventurers into a race to obtain all 5 weapons of
light and finally an epic confrontation with the Mazoku king 'Dark Star' from
another world. In the course of their adventures, Valgaav discovers the true
nature of existence from the Mazoku king- that the forces of light and dark
are just fodder for the Lord of Nightmares, the creator's, amusement. He
then desires to end all creation and start anew.

Poetic justice is also dealt to the golden dragons, as Firia becomes
the sole survivor of her race. Still, the invasion is foiled- and half of the
Mazoku god is slain with the combined might of the 5 weapons of light, Lina's
human magic, Xelloss' dark magic and Firia's light magic- and Valgaav is
reborn anew. Firia adopts the dragon hatchling as a method for paying for her
race's 'crime'. The one remaining other-world god returns to his own devastated
homeworld with the 5 weapons of light to finish the job, leaving Gourry Gabriev
without his sword of light.

Now Firia leads Lina and the others into the final series in 'Slayers'

therefore is excluded from the list.

The characters from Slayers aren't your usual knights and paladins. They
are quite disorganized, frequently hit one another by mistake or by choice,
 and bicker a lot.
Fortunately (or unfortunately) they are also very powerful. When you play
a Slayers game, all the characters usually start with a D&D level of 99.
A list of the major 'good' (well, not quite) characters as follows:

LINA INVERSE
(Chaotic Neutral) (Black Mage / Fighter)
Age: 14 in 'SPECIAL' and 15 in 'SLAYERS 1st Series' onwards.

-The main character, and every Slayers tale is based from her point
	 of view.
-Listed as 'Sorceress' in the novels.
-The 'Dragon Slayer', the 'Bandit Slayer', the 'Flat Plain With
No Mountains'... Lina Inverse is quite a famous mage with many
different titles, some of them not very flattering.
-Lina Inverse is the daughter of a merchant, and led a very ordinary
childhood in Zefielig. She ran away from her home at the age of 12
and became a mage for hire.
-She is now one of the top 10 mages of the world, and is the youngest
	 of them all.
-She considers her growth stunted, and everyone else seems to think
so too. She is very sensitive about this matter.
-Greedy and selfish, but not completely heartless.
-Dragons and bandits flee at the sound of her name, which isn't all
that cowardly of them: she blew up some 300 bandit groups and a lot
	 of dragons.
-She is also responsible for the destruction of many of the mazoku
listed in the mazoku chart above, later on in the story.

Hit Points: 7 (cannot advance in level unless stated)
  Ability: 3
  Common Abilities:
-Normally recovers ability cards at a rate of 1 every 2 turns.
-Will not recover ability cards when 'that time of the month' is
	 reached. (Menstrual)
-May cast all spells from the Black magic category and some from
	 all others.
-Negates any leadership abilties of whoever is in the same tile.
	 This includes allies like Zelgadiss.

  Optional Ability for Lina Inverse:
-This ability encourages role playing between Gourry and Lina.
-Lina can only recover ability cards normally.
-Lina cannot recover hit points normally, and so must drain them from
	 Gourry Gabriev.
-An attack on Gourry is made (via melee or spells), and all hit
points lost by Gourry is gained by Lina.
-The attack can be made at any time.
-However, Lina must make an excuse (no matter how lame) to justify
	 her attack.

LUNA INVERSE
(Unknown Alignment) (Dragon Knight / Waitress)
	Age: Unknown

-Little is known about Luna, who is Lina's elder sister.
-She is a dragon knight under a dragon lord (in the same way a
mazoku general is under a mazoku lord), but always seems to be
too busy serving customers in a restaurant somewhere.
-She is a close friend of Zellas Metallium.
-Lina Inverse is very afraid of her, and strives to better her.
-Apparently she is more powerful than Lina, and Lina isn't too
	 happy about the fact.

"NAGA THE WHITE SERPENT" / Gracia Seyruun
	(Chaotic Evil) (Black Mage)
	Age: Unknown

-Amelia's elder sister. Prince Phillionel El De Seyruun's daughter.
-Dresses in overly sexy clothes, and seems to know no shame.
-Keeps following Lina around. Assumed the title of
"Gold Fish's Feces" because of that.
-Majors in Illusion / Nightmare magic.
-Has a very distinctive and crazy laugh.
-Faints at the sight of blood because she saw her queen mother in
a pool of it when she was assasinated.
-Fate had it that she never gets to meet Amelia face-to-face.
-As greedy as Lina, so Lina tries to get rid of her in every
	 oppurtunity.

Hit Points: 10 (cannot advance in level)
  Ability: 3
  Common Abilities:
-Recovers magic at a rate of 1 ability per 3 turns.
-May cast all spells from Nightmare category, and some of all other
	 combat spells.
-Does not know any spells which are not of combat utility.
	-Will never wear armour.

AMELIA WILLS TESLA SEYRUUN
(Lawful Good) (White Mage / Princess)
Age: 15 in 'SLAYERS 1st Series' onwards.

-Naga's younger sister. Prince Phillionel El De Seyruun's daughter.
	-Princess and heir of Seyruun.
-Hyper-active, has a strong and biased sense of justice.
Head-strong and impulsive when she feels that a wrong has to be
	 righted.
-When she spots some 'bad guys', she will climb up a tree or a rock,
(or whatever available) and give a speech on how her righteous blood
is boiling, then jump off and land head-first on the ground before
	 commencing her attack.
-Appears to be tactless in her speech. She is however, an
	 accomplished diplomat.
-Will never fight with a weapon for long, because she witnessed their
usage in the slaying of her mother.

Hit Points: 4 (may advance in level until 8)
  Ability: 3
  Common Abilities:
-Recovers magic at a rate of 1 ability per 3 turns.
-May cast most spells from Combat and White categories, and some
	 of all others.
-Will only fight with her fists.

GOURRY GABRIEV
	(Neutral Good) (Mercenary Warrior)
Age: 22 in 'SLAYERS 1st Series' onwards.

-Gourry is actually the descendant of a human and one of the
now-secretive elves. The story of his ancestors and his sword is
	 revealed in Slayers PERFECT.
-Listed as 'Fighter' in the novels.
-Met Lina and followed her around as a self-proclaimed 'guardian'
	 ever since.
-Absolutely ditzy in matters not related to sword-fighting.
-One very competent and upright swordsman.
-Inherited the Sword of Light from his ancestors. It is one of the
	 five weapons of light.
	-Considerate and noble-minded.

Hit Points: 10 (cannot advance in level)
  Ability: 3
  Common Abilities:
-Ability to recover all of his own hit points by spending an
ability card. May use it even when his hit points are 0.
-Recovers ability cards at a rate of 1 every 3 turns.

XELLOSS
(Chaotic Evil) (Mazoku General / Mazoku Priest)
	Age: 1012 in 'NEXT' onwards.

-Gives Lina and her group no end of trouble, but hints at a lot
	 of treasures and such.
-More powerful than anyone can imagine. Hides his Mazoku heritage
by keeping his (purple and serpent-like) eyes closed most of the
time. Has some hidden agenda or ulterior motive every time he joins
	 Lina's group.
-The most secretive character, but also the most prankster-like.
-Always looking for ways to make a fool of Phyllia, and vice-versa.
-He single-handedly responsible for almost wiping out the entire
	 race of gold dragons.
-Rumour has it that he has a sado-macho relationship with his
mistress Xelas Metallium. He and his mistress drove the demon lady
	 Deep Sea Dolphin into insanity.

Hit Points: 10 (cannot advance in level)
  Ability: 3
  Common Abilties:
-Ability to teleport away at any time and instance.
-Too powerful to be controlled by anyone except the GM.

ZELGADISS GREYWERS
(Chaotic Neutral) (Chimera Shamanist / Fighter)
Age: 18 in 'SLAYERS 1st Series' onwards.

-Great-great grandson of Rezo Red Robes.
-Rezo tricked him into being melded with a blue demon and golem.
-Has blue rock skin which is imprevious to ordinary weapons.
-Because of his appearance, he usually hides his face behind a hood.
-Desires to become human again, will do anything to attain it.
This is the main reason he follows Lina's group.
	-Shrewd and highly intelligent strategist.
-Good at both sword-fighting and spell-casting.
-Experiences a gradual alignment shift from Chaotic Neutral to
	 True Neutral eventually.

Hit Points: 8 (cannot advance in level)
  Ability: 3
  Common Abilities:
	-Can cast most Shamanistic magic.
-Cannot be wounded by normal weapons in combat.
-Leadership enables all allies in same tile to redraw a failed
combat round once per player per combat.
-Recovers magic cards at a rate of 1 per 3 turns.

FIRIA UL COPT / 'Phyllia' for short
(Lawful Good) (Ryuzoku Priestess / Mage)
	Age: Unknown

-Priestess under the Red Dragon Lord. Daughter of Basha (not sure
about the spelling) Ul Copt, the dragon king.
-A bit air-headed, but quite powerful all the same.
-Can take on the form of a huge gold dragon or a young maiden.
(All dragons have this dragon-human transform ability)
But she isn't used to her human form, and her tail will pop up
once in a while, as she still lacks experience in retaining her
	 human form.
-Eventually became the leader of Lina's party from TRY onwards.
-Hides her oversized mace up her very long skirt.
-She and Xelloss are constantly bickering. The two are enemies
	 by heritage and by character.

Hit Points: 10 (cannot advance in level)
  Ability: 3
  Common Abilities:
-Recovers spells at a rate of 1 every 3 turns.
-Can transform into a dragon whenever she isn't in the same tile
with anyone else. It requires her to undress, and she's too modest
to do that in public. However, there are times when the rule is
negated, for instance when she was with Lina and Xelloss...
She may fly and breathe destructive energy in this form.
-Seems to be able to cast any White spell.

SHILFIELL NELS RADA
(Lawful Good) (Princess / White Priestess)
	Age: Unknown

-Daughter of a mayor. Her city and her father were destroyed by
Rezo. She is now under the care of Gray, a friend of Prince
	 Phillionel's.
-Twice saved by Gourry Gabriev and has a crush on him, although
Gourry doesn't seem to be aware of it.
-One of the few able to cast a 'Resurrection' spell.

Hit Points: 4 (cannot advance in level)
  Ability: 3
  Common Abilities:
-Recovers ability cards at a rate of 1 per 3 turns.
-May heal any one character up to full hit points with an ability
	 card.
	-May cast any White spell.

*Note* The characters age 1 year after each series.

------
SPELLS
------

In Slayers, the full incantation for a spell is not necessary if the caster
is proficient enough. Notice Lina can cast a Fireball without even saying
the name. It would seem that the chant makes the spell more powerful and/or
easier to cast... weak mages would be required to chant the entire
incantation for even a simple Flare Arrow, while a stronger one like Lina
could just snap her fingers. But even Lina needs to chant for the Dragu
Slave, because it's so much more powerful and the chant becomes necessary.

This list is not a complete list of all the spells available in Slayers.
For example Lina knows over 800 useful and not-so-useful spells. It is only
a list of spells adapted for a CARDS Slayers campaign.

	(title of spell)
	(ability card expenditure)
	(may be cast by)

*Unless stated otherwise, all single target spells must select a target
which is in the same tile as the caster.

*Some spells which call upon a particular deity or demon lord may not be used
again once the being it calls upon is utterly destroyed. Lina did that too
a lot of the demon lords.

*A spell owned by a demon lord is useless against the demon lord himself.

*When a spell 'hits all in...' it literally means Every Single Thing in that
 tile except the caster.

*All spells have their individual strengths and weaknesses. For instance,
one should cast a fire or white magic spell against undead and not a black
 magic spell, for obvious reasons.

*Recovery of Spell / Ability cards occur even of the caster casts
repeatedly. I.e. In Phyllia's case, releasing 3 spells in 3 turns will
still let her cast a 4th one in the 4th turn as her magic recovery is at
 1 per 3 turns.

*Optional Exhaustion Rule : When a character finishes all his or her skill /
magic cards, he or she can no longer perform an action or move until at least
1 card in magic or hit point is recovered.

BLACK MAGIC OFFENSIVE GROUP -The Offensive Group (koukeki kei) of Black Magic
spells primarily focuses on, well, offense. Most
of these spells are purely designed for
spontaneous use, rather than the curses which
take longer to cast and can be potentially even
			     more dangerous.

	"Dragon Slave"
	2 cards
Lina Inverse (Xelloss won't cast it)

"Darkness beyond twilight, crimson beyond blood that flows...
Buried in the flow of time... in thy great name, I pledge myself
to darkness! Those who oppose us shall be destroyed by the power
you and I possess! DRAGU SLAVE!!"

-Used to be called 'Dragon Slayer', it was first cast to do just
	 that. Created by Ray Magnus.
-It calls upon the demon god Shabranigdu's dark powers, and is the
	 most powerful black magic spell.
-It tears up everything in Lina's tile, plus everything in front of
her tile in a cone-shaped path. Unless noted, anyone and anything
can be destroyed in this way.
-Very devastating consequences to the surrounding area, so care must
be taken when casting this spell.

	"Blast Ash"
	1 card
	Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Amelia, Naga

-A minor 'Dragon Slayer' spell. Reduces hit points of all in it's
	 path by 2.

	"Boost"
	no cards
	Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Naga

-Triggers an item to release it's energy for a greater spell.
-Required to cast or improve some spells.
-Uses up a turn to cast.

	"Disfang"
	1 card
	Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Naga

-This spell summons forth a dark dragon-like entity to swing down and
engulf its target with negative energy.
-Hits anything in a straight line extending into 3 tiles.
-Reduces target's hit points by 3.

	"Mist Of Darkness"
	1 card
	Naga

-Turns a 3 x 3 tile area with the caster in the middle tile, into a
	 misty, pitch dark area.
-Treat as darkness / night in time / visibility rules.
-Lasts for a maximum of 3 rounds, during which even the caster cannot
	 see.
-Effects cannot be cancelled by a light spell.
-Anyone trying to move within the spell's effects must succeed in a
feat / test every tile, or fall over and lose his turn.

	"Dynast Breath"
	1 card
	Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Naga

-Calls upon the demon lord Dynast Grauscherra.
-Particularly effective on ghosts and other dark creatures, the
Dynast Breath begins with a gust of electrical wind which solidifies
into a resilient web of negative energy.
-Hits all in a 2 x 2 tile area which must include the caster's own.
-Reduces target's hit points by 3.

	"Dynast Flare"
	1 card
	Lina Inverse, Xelloss

-Calls upon the demon lord Dynast Grauscherra.
-This spell opens up a pentagram underneath the target, which
explodes upwards in a giant burst of negative energy.
-Hits all in a target tile which must be adjacent or is the caster's
	 own tile.
-Reduces target's hit points by 4.

	"Gaav Flare"
	1 card
	Lina Inverse, Xelloss

-This spell is more destructive than a mere fireball, but less so
than the Dragu Slave. It channels out in a straight line towards
the target, like a burrowing laser. It calls upon the power of
	 Chaos-Dragon Gaav for its effects.
-Hits one target for a 4 hit point reduction.
	-Range of 3 tiles.

	"Giga Slave"
6 cards (may not be normally cast)
	Lina Inverse

"Darkness beyond blackest pitch, deeper than the deepest night!
King of Darkness, shining like gold upon the Sea of Chaos, I call
upon thee! Swear myself to thee! Let the fools who stand before me
be destroyed... by the power you and I possess! GIGA SLAVE!!"

-Even more powerful than the Dragu Slave from which it was developed,
the Giga Slave utterly destroys its target by enveloping it in
darkness and nightmares. Unleashed first upon the Dark Lord
Shabranigdu, Lina first had to combine the power of the Sword of
Light with a call to the Lord of Nightmares in order to cast this
spell, a modification of the Dragu Slave. This spell is considered
by some to be the first spell of Dark Magic, a separate category of
	 magic.
-As noted in the Slayers Next series, this spell has some serious
kinks that need to be worked out, mainly the fact that extended
use constitutes selling your soul to the devil. Literally. Do not
taunt Happy Fun Lord of Nightmares.
-Lina turned an entire sea black with poison the first time she
tried it out. It has the power to destroy the entire universe
along with the caster. This is why she will never cast this spell
	 lightly.

	"Laguna Blade"
2 cards (must utilize an Xelloss' talismans)
	Lina Inverse, Xelloss

-One of the wisdoms of the Clair-Bible Xelloss was the technique of
the Laguna Blade. Extremely difficult to control, this spell seems
to be based on the power of the Lord of Nightmares, much like the
Giga Slave. The technique is manifested as a highly unpredictable
blade of Nightmare energy. So far, only one endowed with the
talismans formerly owned by Xelloss, or of a similarly high power
level, is able to cast this potent magic.
-Does 9 hit points of damage to any single target in the same tile.
	-Range of 3 tiles.

	"Laguna Blast"
	2 cards
	Lina Inverse, Xelloss

-Lina apparently knows the Laguna Blast technique before learning
the Laguna Blade, as she knows it in the movie/OVA timeline
(Slayers Return). In any case, it seems to be a circular
ripple-effect, starting in the casters palm and rocking out towards
the target in waves of negative force.
-Does 5 hit points of damage to all in the adjacent 8 tiles outside
	 of the caster's tile.

	"Shadow Snap"
	1 card
	Lina Inverse, Zelgadiss, Xelloss, Naga

-This spell is a quick one, but easy for any mage to foil. It binds
the victim by their shadow, preventing any movement that would
cause the shadow to change. The spell requires an object, usually a
bladed weapon such as a knife, to hold the shadow in place. The
spell is broken as soon as the bladed weapon is no longer touching
	 the target's shadow.
-Single target must do a test/feat to avoid being caught.
-If the target fails, no hit points are lost, but he is held in
place and unable to do anything at all except speak until the
caster moves at least 2 tiles away, or cancels the spell.
-The one thing you can do to avoid it is a light spell, which
negates the caster's shadow and breaks the shadow snap spell.

	"Zelas Blitz"
	2 cards
	Lina Inverse, Xelloss

-Manifested as an intense boomerang of energy, this spell whips out
towards its target in a spinning rage. It's more of a disruptive
attack, and targets enemy spells like Flow Break, though.
(Also known as Ferris-Blitz (fearisu buriido) and Zelias-Blitz
	 (zeriasu buriido).
-All in the caster's tile and up to 3 immediately adjacent tiles
are hit for a 8 hit point reduction.

BLACK MAGIC CURSES GROUP -The Use of Curses (noru hou) generally have more of
a long-term effect than the offensive spells, which
last a couple seconds. Granted, the EFFECTS of a
destructive spell might leave a city in ruins, but
these curses are continually acted, until the
source of the curse is removed.

	"Inverter"
	1 card
	Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Naga

-Reverses the effects of some magic.
-Since trolls have a natural magical effect of healing, this spell
inverts the effect so that instead of healing (regenerating), the
trolls shrink into nothingness (degenerate)! It involves contact
of the target(s) with the spell.

	"Payback"
1 card (requires 2 items owned by the target)
	Martina

-Martina actually pulls a good one off on Lina - this spell rebounds
any attack the target makes back onto itself. So if the victim kicks
someone... the victim is kicked back. If the victim fireballs
something... the victim gets fireballed. Apparently this spell
requires two items from the intended victim; a blade and some other
personal item, in this case, Lina's headband.

	"Reverse Time"
	1 card
	Rezo

-Rezo cast this in the fourth episode of the first series - it
reverses time for the target area. If a room was destroyed, and
Reverse Time is used to rewind time back beyond the time of its
destruction, then the room will be restored.

WHITE MAGIC -White Magic (shiro majutsu), unlike most magic in Slayers, is
used for healing and regeneration. The effects of regeneration
vary widely, from healing small wounds to recovering whole
	     cities.

	"Decleary"
	1 card
	Shilfiell, Phyllia

-A spell used to awaken someone, if they have been in a deep sleep or
coma. Although, it may also be used to clear poisons from someone's
	 bloodstream.

	"Flow Break"
	1 card
Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Amelia, Shilfiell, Zelgadiss, Phyllia

-This spell is used to dispel weaker spells, such as illusional magic
	 and minor curses.

	"Recovery"
	1 to 3 cards
	Shilfiell, Phyllia

-This spell is very versatile. It can be used in small doses, to
heal minor wounds, but in the hands of an experienced Healer it can
also be used on a grander scale to regenerate major damage, such as
	 city-wide destruction.
-If 1 card is used at one time, recover a single target up to full
	 hit pints.
-If 2 cards are used at once, recover all allies in same tile up to
	 full hit points.
-If 3 cards are used at once, all alies in all adjacent tiles to the
caster are healed up to full hit point capacity.
-The other spell-casting characters may only use up to 1 card.

	"Resurrection"
	3 cards
	Shilfiell, Phyllia

-This spell, as its name implies, restores life to the dead. The
skill of the caster, as in all spells, determines whether this
extremely complex spell is successful or not.
-Brings a 'dead' character back to full hit points. Must be done
within 3 turns of the character's 'dying'.
-Takes 3 turns to use. If the casting is interrupted, the ability
	 cards are still lost.

	"Shield"
	1 to 3 cards
	Shilfiell, Phyllia, Xelloss

-This spell makes the caster or a single ally invulnerable to:
	-At 1 card = 3 non-magical hits.
	-At 2 cards = 3 (1 card) magical or non-magical hits, or
		      1 (2 card) magical hit.
	-At 3 cards = 3 (1 card) magical or non-magical hits, or
1 (2 card) magical hit to all allies in the
		      caster's tile.
-The caster may not do anything nor move while maintaining
the 3 card spell. Doing an action or moving will instantly
	 cancel its effects.
-The other spell-casting characters may only use up to 2 cards.

SHAMANISM AIR GROUP -The Air Group (kaze kei) has a lot of useful spells,
most of which involve transporting the caster or a
target through the air. Of course, this group, too, has
its offensive uses, being that it covers not only the
'wind' spells, but the 'lightning' spells as well.

	"Bomb De Wind"
	1 card
Zelgadiss, Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Amelia, Naga

-The Bomb Di Wind spell is an enormous gust of wind, so strong that
	 it can knock down buildings.
-1 hit point damage to all in any shape of tiles desired, as long
they're adjacent to one another, and to the caster's own tile.

	"Bram Fang"
	1 card
Zelgadiss, Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Amelia, Naga

-This spell appears to be manifested as an electrical wind slash,
similar to a 'blade' of wind charged with electrical energy.
-3 hit point damage to a all in a 2 tile area pointing outwards from
and adjacent to (but not including) the caster's own tile.

	"Bram Gush"
	1 card
Zelgadiss, Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Amelia, Naga

-Similar to the Bram Blazer, this spell is more explosive. Whereas
the Bram Blazer is a wave, this spell is a bomb.
-Hits all in a 2 x 2 tile area which must include the caster's own.
-Reduces target's hit points by 2.

	"Dam Brass"
	1 card
Zelgadiss, Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Amelia, Naga

-This spell sends out a rainstorm of electrical bolts at the target,
erupting from the caster's hands. These bolts seem to carry along
an added amount of momentum as well as the energy stored within,
	 adding more to the effect.
-Hits single target for 3 hit points damage. 4 hit points damage if
the caster moved into the tile, then cast the spell.
-May optionally hit 3 single targets for 1 hit point each.

	"Digger Bolt"
	1 card
Zelgadiss, Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Amelia, Naga

"Wind, crimson flame. Grant the power of thunder to my hand!
	 DIGGER BOLT!"

-This spell channels the power of lighting and thunder into the
caster's hands. From there, the electricity can either be channeled
via direct electrical conduction or thrown at the target, depending
	 on the circumstances.
-Hits all in a straight line of tiles stretching as far as the next
	 obstacle. (i.e. stone wall)
-Does 2 hit points of damage.

	"Diem Wind"
	1 card
Zelgadiss, Lina Inverse, Phyllia, Xelloss, Naga

-A torrent of wind streaks out towards the opponent, knocking them
backwards. Optionally this spell can also be used to drop people in
more convenient places such as rivers and streams, where they will
	 be out of harm's way.
-Hits single target up to 2 tiles away and moves it to a location
of the caster's choice up tp 2 tiles from the target's original
location. It may do 1 hit point of damage in the process, depending
on the will of the caster, and the landing location.

	"Fehlzareid"
	1 card
	Zelgadiss, Lina Inverse, Naga, Xelloss

-In the Slayers Return movie, this spell seems to be electrical in
nature, like a streaking pillar of lightning energy.
-HIts all in a 2 tile area for 3 hit points of damage.

	"Levitation"
	1 card
	Zelgadiss, Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Phyllia

-Using this spell the caster can fly, optionally taking along
passengers as well, depending on the competency and intention of
	 the caster.
-May affect all party members or just the caster, or an object.
-Increases movement up to a maximum of 4 tiles for one turn.
	 May fly over certain obstacles.

	"Lighting"	(Not Lightning)
	No cards required
Zelgadiss, Lina Inverse, Phyllia, Xelloss, Shilfiell, Amelia, Naga

-Perhaps the easiest spell to learn, Lighting simply creates a
sphere of light, which can change in intensity or move as the caster
	 desires.
-Used to negate certain spells, or to intimidate / trick opponents.
-Allows caster to see in dark places. In the lighting rule, this
light is equivalent to 'afternoon' light.

	"Mono Bolt"
	1 card
Zelgadiss, Lina Inverse, Amelia, Naga, Xelloss

-Much like the Digger Bolt, this spell channels the power of lighting
and thunder into the caster's hands. However, from there it is
formed into a sphere that is used for a more focused, and damaging,
attack. Usually this is used for incapacitation without random
damage, as opposed to the more chaotic Digger Bolt.
-Does damage to a single target up to 2 tiles away for 3 points of
	 damage.

	"Raywing"
	1 card
	Zelgadiss, Lina Inverse, Phyllia, Xelloss

-A more advanced version of Levitation, this spell allows greater
freedom of movement. It can also be used to form a protective shield
of air around the caster which can be used as life-support in more
volatile areas. Zelgadiss manifests this shield as a bubble, Lina
tends to streamline it to herself.
-May only affect the caster himself.
-Movement of a maximum of 4 tiles for 1 turn only.
-Used to get past certain obstacles.

	"Scatter Blitz"
	2 cards
	Zelgadiss, Lina Inverse, Xelloss

-This spell calls forth several dozen spheres of energy which swarm
towards the opponent in annoying waves.
-Does 6 hit points of damage with 3 hits. May be distributed to
hit different targets, with each hit doing 2 hit points of damage.
-Has a range of 2 tiles.

	"Teleportation"
	1 to 3 cards
	Xelloss, Phyllia

-This spell teleports the caster and / or additional companions to
	 the location of his choice.
-The caster must have previously been to the target location, or it
must be in his line of sight.
-The longer the distance and the greater the number of people
teleported, the greater the strain to the caster.

	"Windy Shield"
	1 to 3 cards
	Zelgadiss, Lina Inverse, Xelloss

-This spell makes the caster or a single ally invulnerable to:
	-At 1 card = 3 non-magical hits.
	-At 2 cards = 3 (1 card) magical or non-magical hits, or
		      1 (2 card) magical hit.
	-At 3 cards = 3 (1 card) magical or non-magical hits, or
1 (2 card) magical hit to all allies in the
		      caster's tile.
-The caster may not do anything nor move while maintaining
the 3 card spell. Doing an action or moving will instantly
	 cancel its effects.

SHAMANISM EARTH GROUP - The Earth Group (chi kei) is used primarily for
attack, though it can be used for tactics and
transportation as well. Won't work against flying
			creatures.

	"Bephis Bring"
	1 card
Lina Inverse, Zelgadiss, Naga, Xelloss, Amelia

-This is a tunneling spell, which bores through rock. It can be used
in any direction, but is most often used to clear away a path
through mountains or down through tall earthen fortresses.
	-Special utility spell.
-Carves tunnel up to 4 tiles long in any shape.

	"Dug Howl"
	3 cards
	Zelgadiss, Xelloss

"Earth below me, submit to my will! DUG HOWL!"

-This spell causes rocky spikes to shoot upwards from the ground,
impaling any victims in a circular region centered around the
	 caster.
-All in 8 tiles surrounding the caster's tile are struck for 8 hit
	 points of damage.
-Ignores hit point regenerative effects of creatures such as trolls.

	"Dill Brand"
	1 card
Lina Inverse, Zelgadiss, Xelloss, Naga, Amelia

-One of Lina's favorite tactics to stop people from running their
mouths is to blow the ground out from under them with the Dill
Brand spell. A circular area is traced, either by drawing a circle
in mid-air or on the ground, and after the spell is cast the
affected area explodes upwards, taking whatever was standing on
	 said area up with it.
-Damages all in a single tile up to 2 tiles away for 3 hit points
	 of damage.

	"Mega Brand"
	2 cards
Lina Inverse, Zelgadiss, Amelia, Naga, Xelloss

-This spell is for use only when the Dill Brand just isn't good
enough. The magnitude of this spell is even greater, and not only
is the ground around the target(s) exploded upwards, it also engulfs
	 the circular area in flames.
-Affects a 4 tile area with the closest tile up to 1 tile away.
-Does 4 hit points of damage to all within the tiles.

	"Mega Vraimaa"
2 cards (needs suitable tough substance in tile or adjacent tile)
	Naga

-Creates a huge golem out of whatever hard material is available.
-Once created, the golem will not obey everything Naga orders it
to do. Control of the golem is taken over by the GM after 1 turn.
-The golem cannot be destroyed using magic nor anything else under
normal circumstances. It attacks using 10 hit points, but will not
get its hit points deducted in normal combat.
-Imprevious to a Dragon Slave spell. May not be moved by an air
	 spell.

	"Lava Howl"
	1 card
	Naga, Lina Inverse, Zelgadiss, Xelloss

"Infinite earth, mother who nurtures all life, let thy power gather
	 in my hand! VLAVE HOWL!"

-This spell pulls forth lava from the ground, allowing the caster to
whip it around like a massive club towards his or her opponent.
-It does 3 hit points of damage to all selected targets (all enemies)
in the caster's or an single adjacent tile.

	"Vu Raywa"
2 cards (needs suitably tough material in Naga's tile or an adjacent
		 one)
	Naga

-Similar to the Vu Vraimaa spell, this spell creates a rock golem in
the shape of a dragon, instead. Only it would seem that Naga has yet
	 to perfect this variant...
-Creates a huge dragon out of whatever hard material is available.
-Once created, the dragon will not obey everything Naga orders it
to do. Control of the golem is taken over by the GM after 1 turn.
-The golem cannot be destroyed using magic nor anything else under
normal circumstances. It attacks using 10 hit points, but will not
get its hit points deducted in normal combat.
-It can fly, moving 2 tiles a turn.
-It chased after Lina and Naga the last time Naga cast it.

	"Vu Vraimaa"
1-3 cards (needs stone or earth on the ground)
	Lina Inverse, Naga

-Lina and Naga both have control over the earth to the point that
they can make stone, humanoid golems arise from the ground and
	 attack their foes.
-Creates 3 golems of 2 hit points each per ability card played.
All golems start out in the caster's tile, or an adjacent tile.
-Once the caster suffers one hit point of damage, his concentration
is broken and the golems crumble back into the earth.

SHAMANISM FIRE GROUP - The Fire Group (hi kei) of Shamanism is composed
almost entirely of offensive spells which burst into
flame. As such, most people who learn Shamanism, learn
a few spells from this category for 'personal
		       protection.'

	"Blast Bomb"
	1 card
Xelloss, Lina Inverse, Zelgadiss, Amelia, Naga

-Xelloss used this spell in conjunction with Boost in order to take
out Zazan in Next episode #11. It creates a gigantic circle of
flames, incinerating everything within it except for the caster.
-Does 3 hit points of damage to all enemies within a 3 x 3 area,
which must have the caster and his group at the centre tile.
-Anyone not in the same tile as the caster and yet within spell range
will get hit by the spell.

	"Bomb Spread"
	1 card
Xelloss, Lina Inverse, Zelgadiss, Amelia, Naga

-This spell unleashes a flurry of spheres which explode into rather
large explosions. Not the thing to let loose in narrow alleyways.
-Releases 3 fireballs, each doing 1 hit point of in a single tile
each. Intensity may be concentrated or dispersed according to the
caster's will. (Such as sending 2 fireballs at one tile and the
	 last one at another.)
-Has a maximum firing range of 1 tile.

	"Burst Flare"
	1 card
	Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Naga, Zelgadiss

-Burst Flare is, as its name implies, an exploding flare attack.
This seems to be used more as a diversionary tactic than anything
	 else, though.
-Stuns everyone within a 3 x 3 tile distance for 1 round, with the
caster in the center of the explosion.
-All caught within the spell's range may not move or do any action
for the duration of their next turn.
-Does no damage to hit points.

	"Burst Rondo"
	1 card
	Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Naga, Zelgadiss

-Burst Rond sends forth a flurry of moderately large fireballs
towards its target. More of a low-midrange spell.
-Hits all within a target tile up to 2 tiles away for 3 hit points
of damage, and disables movement for the turn of all in the tiles
adjacent to the one hit. Only the caster may escape its effects.

	"Fireball"
	No cards required
Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Naga, Zelgadiss, Amelia

"Source of all power, light which burns beyond crimson, let thy
power gather in my hand! FIREBALL!"

	-Uses up one turn.
-Target must not be in the same tile as caster.
-Does one hit point of damage to a single target.
-Has a maximum range of 2 tiles.
-The caster may decide to improve its effects by waiting completely
still for one round, then cast it in the next for 2 hit points of
damage on all in a single tile.

	"Flame Arrow"
	1 card
Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Naga, Zelgadiss, Amelia

"Source of all power, Wind which blows to the East... FLARE ARROW!"

-One of the weaker spells, Flare Arrows are quick and deadly.
Resembling flaming arrows they can be launched in quick succession,
either with a bow, as Lina tends to do for dramatic effect, or
	 thrown like javelins.
-When cast, the caster has 3 turns to use up 3 missiles.
-Each missile takes an action to shoot, and does 2 hit points of
	 damage each.
-Has a maximum range of 2 tiles.

	"Flare Bit"
	1 card
Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Naga, Zelgadiss, Amelia

-This spell sends forth a volley of quick ring-shaped attacks,
causing small explosions wherever they contact.
-Does not require an action to use.
-Does 2 hit points of damage to a single target in addition to
whatever attacks had been done in the same turn.
-A single target. Has a maximum range of 1 tile.

	"Flare Lance"
	2 cards
Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Naga, Zelgadiss, Amelia

-The Flare Lance is similar to the Elmekia Lance of the Spirit group,
but has less of an impact.
-Does not require an action to use.
-Does 4 hit points of damage to a single target in addition to
whatever attacks had been done in the same turn.
-A single target. Has a maximum range of 2 tiles.

	"Val Flare"
	2 cards
Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Naga, Zelgadiss, Amelia

-This spell volleys dozens of high-velocity Flare Arrows at the
target, resembling a salvo of missiles more than anything else.
-When cast, the caster has 3 turns to use up 4 missiles.
-2 missiles takes 1 action to shoot, and does 2 hit points of
	 damage each.
-Has a maximum range of 2 tiles.

SHAMANISM SPIRIT GROUP - The Spirit Group (seijin kei) is used for summoning
spirits and the power of the Astral Plane, a realm
parallel to our own. Each being on the physical
plane has a counterpart on the Astral Plane, which
can be injured and helped just as its physical
representation... and as such, is vulnerable on both
			 fronts.

	"Astral Vine"
	1 card
	Zelgadiss

-Zelgadiss seems to be the only one who calls upon this spell, the
purpose of which seems to be enhancing bladed weapons. He calls
forth red spiritual energy from the Astral Plane and binds it to the
sword edge, making it sharper and more effective.
-Adds 1 to the results of a caster's combat with an opponent, up to
	 a maximum of 10.
-It's effect lasts until combat with a singer opponent ends.

	"Balus Rod"
	1 card
	Zelgadiss

-This spell creates a long shaft of energy, which can either be
manipulated as a stick or as a whip, depending on the desire of the
	 caster.
-Acts like a melee weapon to the caster, except that it can hit
opponents adjacent to the caster's tile instead of just those within
	 his tile.
-Does 2 hit points of damage every hit for 1 combat, then vanishes
after the fight is broken off, or the opponent is defeated.

	"Bram Blazer"
	1 card
	Zelgadiss, Lina Inverse, Xelloss

-A tight, focused tunnel of energy ("Wave-Bullet") is diverted from
the Astral Plane and whips into the opponent.
-Does 4 points of damage to all in a 2 x 1 area of tiles.
One of the tiles must be adjacent to the caster's own.

	"Elmekia Blade"
	1 card
	Zelgadiss, Amelia, Lina Inverse, Xelloss

-Similar to the Elmekia Lance, this spell conjures forth a gigantic
blade of spirit energy, which can then be used to slash at enemies.
Instead of spearing enemies, this spell can (I presume) do more
	 damage by slashing.
-Adds one hit point of damage per combat hit of the caster during
combat with a single enemy. Lasts for the duration of a combat with
	 a single enemy, then fades.

	"Elmekia Lance"
2 cards (Requires One of the 5 Weapons of Light)
	Lina Inverse, Xelloss

-This spell sends out javelins of spirit-energy out towards the
target, ripping it apart from the astral plane. Combined with the
Sword of Light the effectiveness is even greater, since the spell
and the sword share a similar effect.
-Adds 2 hit points of damage to the Sword of Light's hits.
-Lasts for a single combat with a single enemy.

	"Cosmo Rou"
	2 cards
	Zelgadiss, Lina Inverse, Xelloss

-The caster slams his/her hand into the ground, which then promptly
responds with tremors as the spirits held within erupt out into the
open, engulfing the target with spirit energy.
-Causes 6 points of damage to a 3 x 2 tile which must be adjacent to
	 the caster's own.

	"Kyu-Kyum Spin"
	1 card
	Naga, Lina Inverse

-In the battle of summoning spells, this one takes the cake. A
counterpart to Zelas-Gort, the Kyu-Kyum Spin has a very odd focus...
jellyfish. It summons the spirits of several large jellyfish into
	 the area, surrounding the target.
-Since jellyfish do not have brains, they cannot be controlled.

	"Megiddo Flare"
2 card (1 if a Stone of Binding is used)
	Naga, Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Zelgadiss

"You, who are not of this world... by the Light of Purity I possess,
I bid thee begone to the nexus of our two worlds! "

-This is a rather difficult spell to cast, and can be aided by a Stone
of Binding. A giant pillar of spirit energy is created, which
attracts all spirits in the immediate vicinity and draws them upwards
	 to the Spirit World.
-Instantly defeats all summoned creatures within 2 tiles of the
	 caster's tile.
-Takes 2 turns to cast, 1 turn if a Stone of Binding is used.

	"Ra Tilt"
	3 cards
	Zelgadiss, Lina Inverse, Xelloss

-The strongest attack in Shamanist magic, the Ra-Tilt rushes at
opponents from the Astral Plane, bowling over them like a landslide.
Upon most single targets, this spell has the same effectiveness as
the Dragu Slave of Black Magic.
-Does 10 hit points of damage to a 4 x 4 area of creatures. One tile
from the area must be adjacent to the caster's own.

	"Shadow Web"
	1 card
	Zelgadiss, Lina Inverse, Xelloss

-Shadow Web is a binding spell which locks its victim to the ground
upon which they stand, encasing them in a web of shadow energy.
-After casting, if the next combat round is successful, damage is
ignored but the opponent is disabled for 3 turns, during which he
	 cannot harm nor be harmed.

	"Sleeping"
	1 / 2 cards
	Zelgadiss, Amelia, Lina Inverse, Xelloss

-Simply put, Sleeping puts the target to sleep. This spell can either
be cast as a touch-effect or an area effect...
(On a side note, Lina seems astounded in TV #4 that Rezo can affect
an entire hotel at once, but Amelia seems to be able to silence a
town of trolls later in the series...)
	-Non combat, special circumstance spell.
-1 card puts 1 target to sleep for a GM determined number of rounds.
-2 cards puts a GM determined vast area to sleep for a GM determined
	 number of rounds.

	"Valis Wall"
	3 cards
	Zelgadiss, Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Shilfiell

-The Valis Wall is a spiritual shield-wall, used to deflect enemy
attacks. It can be conjured in a larger area to protect a group from
	 magical attack.
-Special utility. Cast when a very powerful spell is emminent.
-Protects all in a tile from spells such as the Dragon Slave and
	 Ra-Tilt.

	"Visafrank"
	2 cards
	Amelia

-It would seem that Amelia has developed her own spell for the
greater good of Justice! Amelia calls forth spiritual energies and
focuses them on her fists, which she uses as one might use
boxing-gloves. Surprisingly, this is a rather powerful spell...
-Adds 2 hit points of automatic damage to every combat round by Amelia
with a single enemy. The normal dealing and recieving of damage from
combat is still in effect while the spell is effective.
-Lasts until combat with the single enemy ends.

	"Zelas Gort"
	1 card
	Naga, Lina Inverse, Xelloss

-The Zelas-Gort spell is a mass summoning spell. What, exactly, it
summons, I am not sure, though in the Slayers Motion Picture it seems
	 to be... sea cucumbers.
-Summons 3 hit point's worth of cards to be used as creatures for
combat. Lasts until they are destroyed, or 3 turns are over,
	 whichever comes first.
-Creatures may appear in tiles adjacent to the caster's, or the
caster's own to temporarily supplement her combat cards.

SHAMANISM WATER GROUP - The Water Group (mizu kei) is primarily offensive,
much like the Fire Group. However, these spells are
aimed more at disabling and containing opponents,
				rather than destroying them.

	"Demona Crystal"
	2 cards
	Zelgadiss, Xelloss, Lina, Naga

-The Demona Crystal attack sends forth a chain of ice crystals towards
the opponent. Should the spell strike, the opponent and surrounding
area would be crystallized into a solid mass of ice. This seems like
it would be a more powerful variant of Ly Briem.
-Strikes an opponent for 4 hit points of damage, then disables it
from doing anything or moving for another 2 turns.
-During that time the frozen opponent may not be harmed.
-Has a range of 1 tile.

	"Freeze Arrow"
	1 card
Naga, Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Zelgadiss, Amelia

-As one might expect, this is the cold counterpart to the Flare Arrow.
Made of ice, these arrows freeze the target on contact. Their effects
can be combined to encase the target completly in ice, if the caster
	 desires.
-When cast, the caster has 3 turns to use up 3 missiles.
-Each missile takes an action to shoot, and does 1 hit point of
damage each, then freezes the opponent for 1 turn. During this one
turn the opponent may not move, but may perform an action.
-Has a maximum range of 2 tiles.

	"Freeze Blitz"
	2 cards
	Naga, Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Zelgadiss

-Does 5 hit point of damage with 5 hits. May be distributed to
hit different targets, with each hit doing 1 hit points of damage.
-Has a range of 3 tiles.

	"Icicle Lance"
	2 cards
	Naga, Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Zelgadiss

-Much like Flare Lance and Elmekia Lance, the Icicle Lance is a long
shaft of ice crystals which shoots forth and spears the target.
-Does not require an action to use.
-Does 3 hit points of damage addition to
whatever attacks had been done in the same turn.
-Affects all in a target tile adjacent to the caster's.

	"Ly Briem / Mos Varim"
	1 card
	Naga, Lina Inverse, Xelloss, Zelgadiss

-Strikes an opponent for 1 hit point of damage, then disables it
from doing anything or moving for another 1 turn.
-During that time the frozen opponent may not be harmed.
-Has a range of 1 tile.

	"Van Rail"
	2 cards
	Lina Inverse, Naga, Xelloss, Zelgadiss

-The Van Rehl spell creates a dense web of ice, which can either
surround the caster like a shield, or entrap a target. Fire
elementals are especially affected by this shell of ice, most of
	 them dispelling on contact.
-Special utitlity. Moves toward target through contact with an object.
Lina used it to freeze a lumbering nail serpent by casting this
spell on the ground below its feet.
-GM determines its range and duration of its effects depending on the
	 situation.

ARTIFACTS
---------

Almost everything in Slayers is so powerful that it upsets gameplay, but
don't worry - that's what makes Slayers so hilarious.
Some of the most-frequently mentioned and used artifacts found in Slayers:

SWORD OF LIGHT

-Referred to as the 'Hikari no Ken', or its true name, the 'Goru Nobu'.
-One of the 5 Weapons of Light.
-Does 3 hit points of damage in combat when the magical light blade is
 drawn.
-May be used in conjunction with a few spells.
-May hit magical creatures and Mazoku who are not normally affected by
 mundane weapons and low-power spells.
-Gourry must spend one ability point per turn to use the sword.
The same applies for other characters using it.

PHILOSOPHER'S STONE

-An ordinary-looking piece of rock about the size of an eyeball.
-Doubles a spell's effectiveness, and spells cost half the usual casting
cost and time spent to cast.

-------------
NOTES ON PLAY
-------------

-Players often do not reveal their special abilities and / or disadvantages
to other players. They should keep them secret.
-Gameplay resembles 'do-whatever-they-want' more than 'you-cast-that-fireball
-while-I-distract-them'. In other words, players are neither encouraged nor
discouraged from co-operating with one another.
