Arriving There:We left at around 5:00 pm from Windsor, so we could get to Detroit by 6:00. The roads in Detroit are a bit confusing and we got lost but my sisters (Monica 19, and Veronica, 13) and I finally found St. Andrews Hall at 6:15. There was only a small line because, although the show was sold out, not many people were there yet. We went straight in, and bought some swag. (I bought a dark green Blur shirt 23$ US, and bought 2 patches for 6$US).It turns out St Andrews Hall is about the size of a gym. My sisters were too short to stand in the crowd (haha!) so they had to go on the balcony, but I got to stand pretty close to the stage. I wasn't sure which side Alex would be on, so I guessed on the left side. (Although I didn't get the chance to meet her, the webmistress from another Alex Shrine was there to, except on the right side.) The Beginning: At around 6:30 Pappas Fritas (?) started. Needless to say, compared to Blur, they sucked. I might have liked them if I wasn't so impatient for Blur to come on, but the performance (of about 45-60 minutes) seemed to last forever. When they left, it took about half an hour for Blur to set up.Unluckily for me, I had guessed wrong and ended up on the wrong side of Alex. They started with Beetlebum. Thrills and little stuff: Somewhere in the middle of the concert, Graham commented on having "smelly juice" so someone had to get him a coke.He seemed to be drinking juice the whole time, and looked very sober. Someone threw their glasses at Damon, which he caught easily (probably because of all the sports he plays) and actually put them on. But later in the show he gave them back, I wonder if they ever got to the guy they belonged to! Damon was embarrassed because he forgot the words to Parklife (which he revealed to Alex) so he just mumbled some words in their place :) Nice try Damon. But, you wouldn't believe how high he can jump until you see him in person. He can jump atleast 4 feet up! The crowd was crazy, I went from the edge of the crowd 4th row in front of Graham, to 2nd row in front of Damon. I was like an inch away from touching Damons hand once (woohoo!) He had to share some of his water with us every once in a while to cool us down :) After the show, there was a huge group outside waiting for Blur to come out We passed by the hotel they were supposedly staying at and no fans were waiting there (because not many people know about it! hehe) We would've hung out if we hadn't been pressed for time :( I had to sneak in a camera and (oops) might have slightly blinded Damon. Sorry I don't have any Alex stories because he was so far away. Here, I'll give it a try, he was pretty close considering, like 30-35 feet away and most of the time he just smoked, looked cool and played the bass, and every once in a while he would laugh or smile./:-) In all the concert rocked! Here's a playlist (thanks Monica!) Beetlebum Song 2 Girls and Boys Moving On End of a Century To the End This is a low Inertia Popscene Supa Shoppa Stereotypes The Universal Parklife Colin Zeal Sing Lot 105 (or some new song that we haven't heard yet) Death of a party Chinese Bombs MOR Country Sad Ballad Man On Your Own Look Inside America Advert Bank Holiday Finally! Here's a pic of Damon singing. Alex is a blur in the background and if you look hard you can see a shady Graham sitting at the side. If you want to put it on your page, please email me first and ask. Thanx:)
