Sailor Moon Episode 110

Episode title: Heightened Hazard

Original American Airdate: 07/19/2000

Darien narrates:

This is the story from long ago. Apart from the Sailor Scouts, who protected the world of the Moon, they were also Sailor Scouts who fought against evil invaders that come from parts of the outer solar system. Sailor Uranus, the Sailor Scouts of the Upper World is guarded by the planet Uranus. Sailor Neptune, the Sailor Scout of the sea, is guarded by the planet Neptune. Sailor Pluto, the Sailor Scouts of the Lower World is guarded by the planet Pluto.

Sailor Uranus: The three of us are gifted with powers that are much stronger than those of the other Sailor Scouts. Our powers are to be used for protecting the earth from enemies coming from beyond the Solar System.

Sailor Neptune: That's why we were sent from the past to this period. We arrived and found our toughest opponents here, and set up base. It will take all our strength to beat them.

Sailor Pluto: As a result, this deadly invasion from the enemy is so powerful, not only do we have to worry about the earth, but the entire solar system is in jeopardy as well.

One warm day, the girls were all at Raye's house.

"So I guess the powers of the other three Scouts are stronger than ours." Lita said.

"Those three, I don't know." Raye said. "They sure are different from us."

"I'm sure that's why they act like we've got a plague and they don't want to get it." Amy surmised.

"I think that each is used to working on their own, because that's the way they've always done it in the past." Luna said. She looked up at Artemis, who was sobbing Mina's lap.

"I think it's so sad they intend to risk their lives and fight this awful enemy by themselves, and so noble!" Artemis said through his tears. Mina handed him a tissue to dry his tears. He blew his nose.

"I've been thinking." Darien said. "It's probably for the best for you to not fight together with them at all. It seems as though they're uh..."

"Seeking a different world than you Sailor Scouts." Darien remembered Uranus saying.

Seeking a different world. Serena thought.

Meanwhile at the Witches 4 laboratory, Mimet and the girls of the Bureau of Bad Behavior were playing a game of Twister. It appeared Mimet was going to lose. She thought of a man named Shawn, who was a racing star. She had to make an impossible move, and tried her best. As she tried to get her leg to bend an impossible way, she kicked it in the air repeatedly. She didn't notice Dr. Tomo watching her. She finally fell and lost. Tomo opened the door and asked Mimet if she was training. He brought her a new Heart Snatcher in person. Mimet, filled with pride, went on her way with the briefcase. Three of the workers and Tomo waved at the closed door for a second.

"My turn now." Tomo said. He and his workers began a game of Twister.

Meanwhile, Hotaru was in her room admiring a magazine. It was an issue talking about the Shawn that Mimet was thinking about. Hotaru blushed and glowed in a special way when she looked at the picture of Shawn on the cover. She recalled a time when she saw him on television and he broke a world record. It was mentioned that Shawn had a childhood wrought with disease and sickness. Hotaru stared dreamily at Shawn as she finished a letter she was writing to him.

"I never would have thought an athlete would be your type." Kaorinite said. Hotaru gasped and covered her letter. She told Kaorinite to get out, and to knock before entering. "My my." Kaorinite said, unphased. "Haven't we gotten a bit big for our britches?" She laughed as she walked away.

Hotaru glared after Kaorinite, and quickly stuffed her letter into an envelope. She smiled at the name on the envelope. Suddenly, Kaorinite appeared again.

"Mrs. Shawn Hayes? I wonder if it's a love letter." Kaorinite said.

"Leave me alone!" Hotaru said. Kaorinite chuckled as she left. "You're wierd!" Hotaru said. "Why don't you go torture someone else?"

"Perhaps you're the one that's wierd, Hotaru." Kaorinite smugly replied. "You write letters, but you never mail them. Now, that's wierd!" Hotaru stood there in shock, Kaorinite's laughter echoing in her ears.

Later that day, Serena finally arrived home from Raye's house. She sat in the front foyer recovering from her fatigue. She looked at a pair of shoes on the ground and was suddenly excited to have a visitor.

In the living room, Rini was talking with Hotaru. Serena came in and said hello.

"What? You haven't offered our guest anything, Rini?" Serena scolded. Rini insulted Serena, and so forth, until the two girls were fighting. Hotaru watched them for a while in amazement, and then giggle softly.

"Must be nice." Hotaru said. "You may think I'm nuts, but I feel warm in your home."

"You do?" Rini asked, who had a tight hold on Serena's cheek.

"Really?" Asked Serena, who had a similar hold on Rini.

Hotaru showed them her letter. They asked what she wrote, but Hotaru avoided the question.

"Well, I'm not very healthy, right?" Hotaru said. "So I wrote that his success in sports encouraged me a lot because I know he wasn't very healthy in his childhood either."

"I hope he writes you back." Rini said, smiling. Hotaru's head shot up and looked at Rini.

"No, it's alright though." Hotaru replied. "I've decided not to mail it."

"Why not?" Serena and Rini asked at once.

"Because I don't know his address or anything." Hotaru replied, almost seeming to search for an excuse. "Besides..."

"Oh, I've got it!" Serena said after a moment. "Why don't you hand it to him directly?" Rini cheered on the idea. Hotaru went along with it nervously.

Meanwhile, Shawn Hayes was stretching at a public track. Mimet was watching, thinking about how she was going to take his Heart Crystal. She saw a list of names on a board and blew her nose in it over and over. She looked up and saw a guard looking at her. Uh oh, she thought. The guard seemed to be smiling at her. It looks to me like there may be some scrunching to do after all! Mimet thought.

Serena ran up to the entrance to the track, and yelled at Rini and Hotaru to hurry up. Rini was simply embarrassed by Serena's lack of character. Hotaru stood and looked at the building in front of her. Wow, Shawn is somewhere in this stadium! She thought to herself.

Inside, Amara, Michele and Trista were watching from the bleachers Shawn practice his high jumping.

"So he's Shawn Hayes." Michele said.

"Yeah, they say he may set another world record again in the next competition." Amara replied.

"I'm afraid that because he's so outstanding, the Heart Snatchers may be after him." Trista surmised.

"Pluto!" A voice rang out. The trio looked and saw Rini running up to them. They all said hello.

"What brings you here?" Trista said pleasantly. "You're not alone, are you?"

"No, of course not." Rini replied. Just then, the four looked down towards the track and saw three guards with whistles in their mouths chasing Serena and Hotaru onto the track. Amara was alarmed at Hotaru's presence. Serena pushed Hotaru to run faster and faster. The men continued their chase relentlessly. Finally they were stopped and surrounded.

"What's with all the whistling?" Serena asked, annoyed and defensive. "Why are you chasing us down like criminals? We've done absolutely nothing wrong here!" The three men, only whistling, stood in Serena's way. Serena told the guards they wanted to give Shawn a letter. Hotaru clutched it tightly.

"It's alright." She said softly, looking towards the ground. Serena looked at her. "I'm satisifed to watch him on TV. Really, it's okay." Hotaru said.

"You sure?" Serena asked. Just then, a voice asked what was going on. Serena looked to see none other than Shawn Hayes standing before them. Hotaru stood there in shock at the sight in her eyes. "Hotaru," Serena muttered, "time for the letter!"

Rini cheered on Hotaru from her perch by the bleachers. Hotaru simply stood there like a shocked statue.

"Did you want to see me about something?" Shawn asked. Serena and Rini urged Hotaru to give Shawn the letter. Hotaru raised her hand slightly, but stopped.

"What's wrong, Hotaru?" Serena asked.

"I'm sorry." Hotaru replied. "I can't."

"What's going on here?" Mimet said from behind a fence. "I obey all the stupid signs and watch from behind the fence, and they get to talk to him!?"

In a fit of rage, Mimet broke down a fence section to change into her uniform. She released her Heart Snatcher, which looked like a sprinter with a hermit crab shell on its back. Mimet orded it to attack. It placed a giant red ball in front of itself and began to push it, running at incredible speed. The ball didn't seem to move until flames were shooting up from the Heart Snatcher's running. Suddenly, the ball zoomed from place, leaving a trail of flames where the Heart Snatcher ran. It barrelled after the three officials, while Shawn, Serena and Hotaru dove out of the way. Hotaru lost hold of her letter, and it flew into the flames, burning to ashes. The officials took cover in an office. The Heart Snatcher rammed the ball into the door, smashing it to bits. Mimet cackled evilly.

Serena put Hotaru in a safe place. Hotaru sobbed softly to herself about the loss of her letter.

"MOON COSMIC POWER!"

The Heart Snatcher was rolling Shawn across the field. It finally stopped him, and leapt on top of him. The Heart Snatcher tried to kiss Shawn, while Mimet watched with almost insincere sympathy.

"Hey, Hot Lips!" A voice shouted. Everyone looked up and saw Sailor Moon. "Only someone truly evil would deprive a man of reaching a goal he's been working towards his whole life! I will simply not have your evil ways! I'm Sailor Moon, and in the name of the Moon, I shall punish you!"

"And I'm Sailor Mini Moon, and in the name of the future Moon, I shall punish you too!" Sailor Mini Moon added.

Mimet, slightly daunted, told the Heart Snatcher to attack. The Heart Snatcher produced a lace, which it used to bind Sailor Moon and Sailor Mini Moon's legs together. The Heart Snatcher ran towards Shawn. The Sailor Scouts tried to get to Shawn first, but tripped. The girls could only watch while Mimet held Shawn's head in place and his Heart Crystal was removed. Mimet decided to beat a hasty retreat, and the Heart Snatcher went with her. On their way out, they happened by the sobbing Hotaru. The Heart Snatcher stopped and asked what was wrong.

Hotaru looked up at the Heart Snatcher, and her eyes were shimmering with red light. In a sudden burst of energy, the Heart Snatcher was sent flying back out into the track. Sailors Moon and Mini Moon looked in shock.

"Did you see that power?" Amara asked Michele and Trista. They were still watching from the bleachers.

"There's definitely something strange about that girl." Michele replied.

"We guessed right, that's for sure." Trista said. "She's dangerous."

Mimet yelled at her Heart Snatcher, who was refusing to come out of its shell. Suddenly, a small pink wand with a heart on it appeared.

"PINK SUGAR HEART ATTACK!"

Sailor Moon watched while Sailor Mini Moon's attack pelted the Heart Snatcher, until it came out of its shell.

"MOON CRISIS POWER!"

"RAINBOW MOON HEART ACHE!"

The conch shell and racing banner that the Heart Snatcher was made from returned to their normal forms. The Heart Crystal was freed, and the Daimon pod freed the spirit inside it. Mimet ran off.

Hotaru had fainted during the attack, and Shawn stood over her as she slowly awoke. Her eyes shot open when she realized Shawn was looking at her.

"Hotaru, are you alright?" Rini asked.

"Rini!" Hotaru said.

"You should stay lying down." Michael said.

"Mr. Hayes?" Hotaru said. She stuttered for a moment.

"I know." Shawn said warmly. "You're not well, are you?"

"Uh... no." Hotaru said, almost admitting to it.

"I was ill a lot when I was a kid." Shawn said.

"I know." Hotaru said.

"You do?" Shawn asked. "Even today, when I wake up in the morning, I wonder if it's all just a dream that I'm healthy and athletic, and able to do what I've always wanted to do."

"It is real." Hotaru said, with a blank, amazed look on her face. "I understand how you feel, Shawn."

"You do?" Shawn asked. Serena and Rini looked on while the three officials sobbed at the scene. "You're the first person to take my words seriously." Shawn said. "Thank you."

"I hope you set another new record in the next competition." Hotaru said.

"And I hope you'll become strong enough to include fitness and sports in your life." Shawn replied. Hotaru smiled and giggled. Serena and Rini smiled at each other.

The next day, Hotaru watched with pride as Shawn broke the world record. She bathed in the glow of the screen, and the encouragement of the man who helped her realize what she could become.
