Sailor Moon episode 72

Episode title: Dog day for Artemis

Canadian Air date: 11/01/97

Artemis ran for his life, as the chef of a restaurant chased him out of the kitchen. Artemis ran all the way to Serena's house, where he confided in Luna about the incident.

"He threw everything but the kitchen sink at me!" He exclaimed.

"And all you did was wolf down his favorite pate?" Luna replied. She and Artemis were in Serena's room. Artemis said to Luna,

"Hey! Some of us were on the job! I had a hunch it was the enemy's secret lair!"

"That happened to be one of Tokyo's finest seafood restaurants." Luna chided. "Give me a break, Artemis! You were crawling for dirty table scraps!" Artemis growled. "You know, you used to be just a mooch!" Luna said. "Now, you're an incompetent mooch!"

Artemis, mad, leapt off Serena's bed, and went to leave. Meanwhile, Rini was hauling up Serena's laundry. Just as Artemis was about to leave the room, Rini kicked open the door, right into Artemis' face.

"Poor Artemis!" Rini said, when Serena had come to join them. They were all sitting on her bed. "Does your bump hurt when I do this?"

Rini touched the bump on Artemis' head, and he yelped in pain. Serena and Luna laughed. Artemis got angry again.

"Sorry!" Said Serena. "I couldn't help laughing! Please don't be mad!"

Artemis hopped off the bed, and left. Luna said,

"Don't worry Serena. He's just wigged out because he's turning into a walking 'cat'astrophe." Serena and the others looked at the door, and Artemis poked his head in.

"That's it, Luna!" Artemis screamed. "We're finished!"

Serena and Luna went to look for Artemis. They looked around the street that Serena's house was on, and Serena said to Luna,

"He's steamed, Luna! I think you went a little too far with the teasing."

"Maybe so." Luna said, looking glum. Serena smiled, and chimed,

"Oh well, don't worry! Leave it to Serena, the Great Relationship Guru! I'll have it all patched up in no time!"

"Why is that not a comfort?" Luna said to herself, sighing.

Artemis had retreated to Mina's room. Mina was sitting at her desk, knitting, while Artemis was laying on the bed.

"Anything wrong, Artemis?" Mina asked. "You seem kind of down in the whiskers. It's not like you to be so quiet."

"Everything's just peachy, okay Mina? So, quit asking!" Artemis snapped.

"Oh, I get it." Mina replied, undaunted. "Had a catfight with Luna again?"

Artemis looked surprised at Mina. Mina tried to remember a saying she had heard.

"Nothing ventilated, nothing gained!" She said. Artemis replied,

"No, no, no, Mina! It goes, 'nothing ventured, nothing gained'!"

Mina blushed, and went back to her knitting, and told Artemis that he had to get Luna to respect him. Brave, noble, heroic, a cat like no other cat. Artemis thought to himself. I'll show her! He leapt off the bed, and left. Mina watched him go, wondering where to.

Meanwhile, Serena and Luna were running through the city, looking for Artemis. Serena surmised that Artemis had gone to Mina's. They came to a corner at the same time as Artemis was, and Serena stepped squarely on Artemis' head. Luna said,

"It's Klutzoid!" Artemis growled. Serena told them to stop. She said she had to have complete calm before she could "heal" Artemis. Artemis asked Serena to get off his head, and she did. He growled angrily, and Serena and Luna laughed again. When they stopped, they noticed that Artemis was gone.

"He's gone, and it's your fault!" Serena said.

"Me?" Replied Luna. "I'm not the one who stepped on his head!"

Meanwhile, in an alley, a box fell off a garbage bag to reveal a small family of abandoned kittens. Artemis came upon it, and went to inspect it. He then heard a noise, and ducked behind a trash can. He peered around it to see a car pull up. A man got out of the car, picked up the box, and put them in the back seat. The man got in the car and drove away. Artemis looked on, wondering where the car was going with the cats.

"Hey!" He said to himself. "Maybe this is my chance to do something heroic!"

He followed the car, where it stopped again. Nearby, a dog was rummaging through a trash can. The man went up to the dog, and handed it some treats. The dog ate the treats, and got into the car with the man. The car drove off with its new passenger.

Meanwhile, Emerald was walking down the street. She was in her Negamoon uniform, which was covered by a large fur coat. She was holding out her earring, trying to find the next negative point. It began to swing, and she looked up to see a large estate.

Lita and Amy were walking by the estate, when the car that Artemis had been investigating drove into the front gate. Lita looked at the car as it passed, and saw someone in the window.

"Hey, Amy!" Lita said. "I think I saw Artemis in that car!"

"Oh, I didn't really notice." Replied Amy. "I was just memorizing my hundredth Spanish word for today. The next word will surpass my daily goal, which means I should increase it."

"A hundred words a day?" Lita said. "Is that all?"

On the estate, Artemis looked around, and in particular, at a large tree (They play Alan's flute theme here). He noticed the large number of animals. Inside the main building, the man who owned the car asked a veterinarian to do check-ups on the cats and the dog. The vet picked one of the kittens, saying that they were lucky. Right behind them, Emerald appeared, and hit them both with an energy burst, knocking them out. Emerald laughed.

"So, this is our next negative point!" She said. She called upon her Dark Power Wedge, and it appeared, planting itself into the ground. Then, she called upon the creature that sustained the Power Wedge: Animal Instinct. Animal Instinct appeared, and changed herself into the veterinarian. Dark Power filled the room, as the eyes of the animals began to glow red. The veterinarian snapped her fingers, and the animals began to walk on their front legs, eyes still glowing. Emerald laughed.

All the girls and Luna were at Serena's house.

"Artemis is in the Animal Shelter?" Luna said. Lita replied,

"I had a real bad feeling about that place!"

"From the animal shelter?" Luna said. "What kind of bad feeling?"

"I don't know exactly." Replied Lita. "It's a beautiful place, but something about it really gives me the creeps!"

"Why would he want to go there?" Amy asked. "He has a perfectly good home."

"Wrong!" Serena replied. "Old Luna ran him off, ragging on him." The girls were taken aback. "That's right! Poor Artemis just feels like he's a worthless furbag, thanks to Luna's continual harping and ragging! I'll bet that's why he ran off to the animal shelter!"

"Oh, give me a break!" Luna said. Serena glared, and said,

"You're the one who drove him off! You're the one that has to apologize!"

All the girls were stopped in their tracks. Serena pointed a finger at Luna, and said,

"Come on, Luna. It's time to come clean!"

"Me, apologize to Klutz the cat?" Luna said. "No way! He can take care of himself!"

Serena said that maybe Artemis wasn't as tough as he looked, and Raye, for once, agreed. The girls began to surmise what creatures were at the shelter.

"There could be all kinds of wild beasts there." Said Mina. "Like crocodiles! Or, pythons and boa constrictors! Maybe even tigers!" Mina began to speak in a spooky tone. "You have to save him, Luna!" She appeared, for a second, as a Shinto priestess. "Or, next time we see him, he could be a ghost!" The girls stared at Mina.

"Okay, okay." Luna finally said. "Enough histrionics! I'll go find him."

Just then, Rini broke in the door. She had her backpack on, and wondered what she heard about tigers. She thought they were going to the zoo, and wanted to go as well. Serena told Rini it was an animal shelter, and little kids didn't belong there. Rini threatened to tell Darien that Serena had eaten an entire meal of cupcakes, and Serena said to make an exception. Lita told Rini that she had to stay out of the way. Mina said, in her spooky tone,

"So remember, we're all counting in you, Luna, to help out Artemis..."

Luna gagged.

Artemis came up to the tree (Alan's flute theme again), and sensed negative power coming from it. He looked up to see a group of the animals, led by the kittens. He had to double take, as he saw the kittens walk on their hind legs in a straight line. Four more were on the back of one of the dogs, and they were standing as well. Artemis was in shock. The crowd that had gathered looked on. Animal Instinct, disguised as the vet, announced that it was the show for animal tricks. She snapped her fingers, and the dogs made a pyramid, with the kittens on the very top. The crowd cheered. Suddenly, the eyes of the animals began to glow, and they attacked the crowd. The people fled, and Animal Instinct looked on happily. One of the dogs was chasing Artemis, and as he leapt over a garbage can, he heard a sound. He looked behind him to see Luna, and she told him to get into the can. He got in, and the dog went right by them. Artemis said sarcastically,

"Come here often?"

"It's my favorite can." Luna replied. Artemis' frown disappeared into wonder, and Luna said, "No, you nimbus! I was worried you'd get yourself into some more trouble! So, why did you come here? These people could mistake you for a stray!"

"Yeah, so what?" Artemis shot. Luna replied,

"You klutzed out again, didn't you?"

Artemis snapped at Luna, and ran off. He looked behind him, to see Luna following him, and asked why she was. Luna said,

"I may tease you, you dolt, but I'm really worried about you, Artemis." Artemis was shocked by Luna's words, and Luna walked away, angry at Artemis. Artemis looked on, as Luna walked away.

The crowd scrambled to a phone in a panic, and tried to use it. A squirrel, however, was chewing the phone line. The people were surrounded. The veterinarian appeared, and changed into Animal Instinct.

Meanwhile, Emerald laughed as the Power Wedge began to grow.

Outside, Mina and Serena were looking into the animal shelter. Serena hoped Luna and Artemis had made up.

"Those are two stubborn cats." Said Mina. "Almost as stubborn as you are."

Serena and Mina watched as a small pack of people ran out of the estate. They looked in, and saw dark energy emanating in the distance.

"I bet you anything it's those creepazoids from the Negamoon." Serena said. "Mina, time to go to work!" Mina nodded.

"MOON CRYSTAL POWER!!!"

"VENUS STAR POWER!!!"

Animal Instinct had her whip out, and cracked it, knocking the crowd of people unconscious. Artemis' face appeared in the bushes. I may just be one little cat, he thought to himself, but there's got to be a way to stop this creep-meister! Artemis, here's your chance to be heroic!

Artemis leapt fearlessly out of the bushes, and charged at Animal Instinct. The eyes of the kittens glowed as they sensed his presence. He leapt in the air at the monster, but was met by four small projectiles, each slamming into him with pinpoint accuracy. He fell to the ground, and noticed the four kittens land in a perfect line. Then, he was confronted by Animal Instinct. Artemis struggled to his feet, and looked around to see a huge pack of animals surrounding him. He glared at Animal Instinct, and began to walk up to her. Suddenly, a rope flew through the air, wrapped around Artemis' leg, and dragged him to the ground. It was an orangutan. Just then, Luna leapt onto the primate, knocking it over. Artemis was shocked by her appearance.

"Oh, please, Artemis!" She said. "You cannot beat all these wigged out animals all by yourself!"

"Sure I can!" Artemis replied. "Stand back and watch me! I'm going to prove to you I'm not Klutz the Cat!"

"But you already have!" Said Luna, with tears in her eyes. Animal Instinct cracked her whip, and sent it flying at the two cats. It slammed into the ground, sending them flying. Luna rolled into a dog, which mechanically kicked her towards the center of the giant circle. Artemis ran to Luna's defense. Luna said that Animal Instinct was too strong. Animal Instinct tried to hit them, but was stopped.

"VENUS LOVE CHAIN ENCIRCLE!"

Animal Instinct's whip was broken, and there was a cloud of dust along the edge of the circle. When it disappeared, Luna and Artemis were gone. Luna and Artemis ran into the bushes, to seek protection behind the Sailor Scouts.

"You used your powers to turn innocent animals into vicious Negamoon drones!" Exclaimed Sailor Moon.

"Shame on you for terrorizing people!" Shouted Sailor Venus. They both said,

"It's up to us to stop you!"

"I fight for love and justice!" Shouted Sailor Moon. "And live to banish all that is evil! I am Sailor Moon!"

"I'm Sailor Venus! And you're burnt toast!"

"Toast? When I'm done, she'll be nothing but bread crumbs!"

Animal Instinct sent the entire pack of animals to attack Sailor Moon and Sailor Venus. They could only watch in terror as the pack loomed over them.

"I have to help them!" Said Artemis. Luna told him no. He said, "I have to! I will!"

The animals were circling the two Sailor Scouts.

"JUPITER THUNDERCLAP ZAP!"

"MARS CELESTIAL FIRE SURROUND!"

A huge pillar of fire and lightning energy erupted from the ground, causing the animals to back off. They had all backed up into the tree that Artemis had suspected.

"SHINE AQUA ILLUSION!"

Sailor Mercury's power created a wall of ice to keep the animals at bay. Sailor Mercury looked at Animal Instinct, and said,

"Could you just hold on for a second, please?"

Sailor Moon was cheering Sailor Mercury for keeping the animals at bay, and Sailor Mars told her to stop it. Animal Instinct used the moment of distraction to throw five small rings at the Sailor Scouts. Each of them constricted around each Sailor's throat, and was changed into a dog collar. Animal Instinct had them all by chains, and with a mighty pull, yanked the Sailor Scouts to the ground.

In the bush, Artemis leapt out in an attempt to fight Animal Instinct. He leapt onto her face, and began to claw at it. Sailor Moon, in the meantime, had gotten free of her collar, and when Artemis was thrown away by Animal Instinct, attacked.

"MOON SCEPTER ACTIVATION!"

Animal Instinct was reduced to a pile of dust, and her crystal went dead. In the Shelter, Emerald's Dark Power Wedge shattered. She walked outside to see the Sailor Scouts around the tree, playing with the animals. She laughed to herself, and said,

"Don't think you've seen the last of me!"

She heard a sound, and looked down. There was a small puppy at her feet. Peeing on her boot.

"Are you blind, rodent?!" Emerald screamed. "I'm not a hydrant!" She disappeared.

The Sailor Scouts were looking at the kittens and the dogs. Sailor Mercury was petting the large dog, and said,

"Hey, you look like Mr. Jones, my math teacher!"

"More like Serena first thing in the morning!" Quipped Sailor Mars. Sailor Jupiter said,

"I think he looks like my last boyfriend, Matt, only way more hunky!" Sailor Mars couldn't help looking surprised at Jupiter.

Luna and Artemis, meanwhile, were sitting at a bench.

"You were really something today, Artemis!" Luna said. "So brave, attacking that Negamoon creepazoid all by yourself!"

"Brave doesn't really hit the mark!" Replied Artemis. "More like bold, magnificent, awesome!"

Luna said she wouldn't go that far. Just then, Rini, who was running out of control, entered the animal shelter's front gate. She had her backpack spinning madly in her hand, and let go of it. It sailed through the air, and landed on Artemis, who was frightened, and landed on the ground in a heap.

"Oh, my!" Said Luna.

"Oh my, yourself!" Said Artemis.
