What is "Moonbeams"?
Moonbeams is a totally new Sailor Moon literary magazine for everyone. It comes out monthly, and includes several different columns. Here are a few ideas for columns I am considering:
- A "Lession For the Month" in Japanese, each lesson consisting of a short list (five max) of vocab words for moonies.
- A Synopsis of the Manga Series, each month covering one act.
- At least one fan fic (single chapter).
- Possibly a fan fic serial.
- A Sailor Moon poetry corner.
Neat! How could I contribute?
Moonbeams would like to be open to contributions from all moonies. Interested in writing a column? E-mail me with "Column" in the title, and I will get back to you with further details.
I write fan fics/poetry. How can I submit my work?
Save your fan fic/poetry in as a .txt file, and then attach it and send it on over! Be sure to include a valid e-mail address, your name, your URL (or a place where other examples of your work can be found), and possibly a short bio. Any sort of fan fic/poetry is acceptable as long as it is PG rated. I might change my policy on that later, but for now lets keep things simple. Your work of fiction can be based around BSSM scouts/senshi or ones you have created yourself. (Psst - If you have a terrific serial involving a new cast of scouts/senshi please LET ME KNOW. It is possible I might want to make a special column for it.) Please include "Fan Fic" or "Poetry" in the title when you e-mail me.
Where will you go with Moonbeams?
Once things get started I plan on having special issues, focused around a theme. Once I start doing that, I will put a notice in Moonbeams stating what I'm looking for for the next issue. Ideally, I would like to have one fan fic per month involving all of the scouts, one focusing on a particular scout (which would change every month), and a serial. Once everything gets organized I will also probably need editors or maintainers for sections, so please let me know if you want to be notified about such positions later on.
Moonbeams sounds pretty cool. How can I subscribe?
*blush* Well, I haven't quite gotten my act together enough yet to handle subscriptions, but if you are interested in learning more about Moonbeams as it develops, please send me an e-mail with "Info" in the subject. The way the magazine will work is every month the Moonbeams web page will change. People who have subscribed will get a notice saying that the new issue has "hit the stands" and is ready to be read. While anyone can just check back with this page, only subscribers will get inside info on future issues, surveys, a chance at advertising space, and much more. Also, only subscribers can write for a Moonbeams column, although anyone can submit work.
That's all for now. Later (once I have the first issue together) there will be opportunities for advertising in Moonbeams and "Subscriber to Moonbeams" banners, but for right now I need to gather stuff. Remember, Moonbeams can't work without your support, so please spread the word. If you have a friend who enjoys writing about SM, or if you read an excellent work of SM fiction you think other moonies would enjoy, please send the author this way. Hope to hear from you soon!
