The story begins when Miaka goes into the National Library (a place she's never been) with her best friend Hongo Yui. As she goes in the library, she see's a beautiful Pheonix and decides to follow it up to the Reference room. (In the eps they keep flashing the "Importan documents, reference room, employee's only" sign and it gets really irritating.) Then a book just drops out of know where and it reads, "The Universe of the four God's Sky and Earth (Shijin ten chi-shou)"

Just then her friend Yui, walks in looking for her. Miaka and Yui open the book and Yui begins to read. (This being the fact that it was in ancient chinese and Miaka can't read it that well)

The book reads..... "This is a story about a girl who got the seven seishi of Suzaku. She obtained ommipotent power and made her wishes come true. The story itself is an incantation. Whom ever finishes reading it, will recieve this power. As soon as the page is turned, the story will become the truth and begin."

Then a flash of warm red light surrounds them and they are transported inside the book to ancient china. That's where the two girls meet a cute guy named Tamahome who rescued them from girl trafficers. After that scene Yui gets transported back to the real world leaving Miaka behind.

As the story goes on Miaka finds out about Suzako no Miko Densetsu. (Legend of the Suzako's priestest). Tamahome she find's out is one of her Seishi and she was destined to be Suzaku no Miko. The story goes on and she finds more and more of her 7 seishi. But she also found a new enemy in her old best friend Yui.

Fushigi Yuugi is my all time favorite Anime because it has everything. Drama, Suspense, action, kawaii characters, a good plot, and it's also funny thankx to Chichiri-no da!!!!

Finally!!! I have FY volumes 1-13. I'm complete.... well almost.I've also now seen the ova's for Fushigi yuugi... uhm ova #1-3. And they were pretty much good. (although the manga part is much better.) ^_^ ...Same with the second OVA series.
