The main character is Lina Inverse. She is a very opinionated redhead. She is neither a "good" guy or a "bad guy"... she's more an inbetweenie. She tries to right wrongs, but also goes about stealing, hurting, killing and fighting along the way. She soon meets up with a young man named Gourry Galbriev. He is quite intellectually challenged, but he has a good heart. Soon they find Zelgadiss, quite grumpy when he wants to be man. He's human, only he has a spell on him so he looks Golem.
