INSTALLING JAPANESE FONTS ON YOUR SYSTEM
A few years back installing Japanese fonts on an English system was VERY difficult, for me at least. Recently, however, things have gone Japanese friendly. My purpose here is to look at being able to view Japanese on the Internet with an English system. Other considerations may include Japanese word processing, Inputing Japanese characters and Japanese email. Also my intent is to find FREE solutions for these problems. Of course you can buy expensive packages, but...
Oh, and if I am wrong about something (which is usually the case) or you have something to add, please email me about it! I do not claim to be an expert on Japanese computing! Thanks
THIS IS FOR IBM COMPATIBLES - I am very sorry, but that is the limit of my knowledge

Ver. 5 (& 4 I think) go to the TOOLS menu and click on WINDOWS UPDATE. From there you will go to a page at Microsoft where you can choose from many free updates. One of which is to be able to view Japanese fonts using IE. VERY, VERY EASY!

I DON'T WANNA DO ANY OF THAT!
Well, there are a couple of wonderful services on the web that allow non-Japanese computers to read Japanese. If you go there and input the URL of this or any Japanese language web site, it will tell your computer how to properly view it. First copy the URL of this website www.oocities.org/iamclayb/japanese and then go HERE OR HERE. The first one even has a link to FUKUI UNIVERSITY! (My Prefecture!)
