This is not a joke.  This is REAL, and scanned directly from a Canadian Airlines DC-10 information card.  For some reason, the people of Canadian Airlines felt that a man in a purple tuxedo would best exemplify safe airline evacuation.  Notice his ready for action pose.  Whoever did this is the funniest man alive on earth today.  I have never laughed harder at a single image in my entire life.  Why the hell would you put a man in a purple tuxedo on a safety information card?  The oddity doesn't stop there.  Not only is he pictured here, but in the outer evacuation scene as well.  If you look very carefully to the left of the far right arrow, you'll see Purple Tuxedo Man.  He retains his ready for action pose.

Here is an enlarged detail of him.

Although his origin is mysterious, one thing is for sure: Purple Tuxedo Man is an international man of mystery.  Keep your eyes peeled for a distinguished man seated in economy the next time you fly.

"Excuse me, are these eggs available in any other way than scrambled?"
"No."
"Excellent."
