Huntin' raccoon with shotgun Panda wearing a Happi coat

This museum is a treasure trove for taxidermy enthusiast.

The owner looks to be in his 80's. He's very kind. On the day I showed up the museum was actually closed because the Danjiri teams were practicing for the festival. After I explained to him that I would only be in town for that day he opened the museum and showed me around. He is more than willing to tell you in detail all about the odd 300 animals he has on display. However, my Japanese isn't fluent enough so that I can understand everything. We ended up having a laughing contest and me saying, "Oh, that's nice" to every one of his comments.

He has a Panda wearing a Happi coat, a jacket worn in festivals. One of the most spectacular sights is a large Tsuru or crane made of ivory. Sorry I haven't scanned this picture yet.
