JAPAN II
The "Kiyomizu Temple" was founded in 798 and reconstructed in 1633 by the third xogum Tokugawa, Iemitsu. The temple is located in one of the highest places of Kyoto. Its famous dark wood "varanda" is supported by 139 pilasters of 15m high each. The magnitude of the place as well as its height is so impressive that there is a japanese saying that if you will do something very audacious, you will "jump the Kiyomizu's varanda".
Kyoto offers an infinity of shrines and temples to be visited. Almost anywhere you go, it is possible to "bump into" a shrine. That makes the city worth every second spent there.
Gyon District is considered the most charming and romantic part of Kyoto. And that's the place one should go if wants to see a "gueixa". Well, going there doesn't mean that one will definately meet one... means that one may have the chance to see one!!! Luckly, we were walking at the Gyon and, by chance, we saw these "gueixas". Their kimonos and make up are extremely beautiful! Not to mention the delicate way they walk. People who do not know what "gueixas" do may think that they are prostitutes. It is not true! They are trained to entertain men with the simple purpose of making them feel like "kings" inside the pleasant "environment" of a "gueixa house".
