SPARRING PARTNER

Chapter 6
Upon impact, the rock had been jarred open, revealing that it was not a bomb as Ryu had
suspected. It turned out to be a hollowed watermelon painted brown to resemble a rock.
The contents inside created a jigsaw puzzle out of Ken’s stomach. He was prone on the
floor, at direct eye level with a pile of organs fresh from the butcher shop.
“Bastard!,” Ryu swore under his breath. He relieved Ken of his weight and was just
about to stand when something hard and metallic whacked him on the back of his head.
As strong as he was, Ryu could not withstand being hit with the shiny end of a shovel.
He collapsed back onto Ken, thinking that he would lose his lover and there was nothing
he could do about it.
“Ryu?” Ken pushed himself up on his elbows and crawled out from under Ryu. He
heard the sound of heeled boots scuffing on the carpet. His instincts were shouting at
him to turn and run but his concern for Ryu was greater. Still, he did neither, staying
where he was. He felt like a snake, coiled up and ready to strike at the first move he saw.
Out of the corner of his eye, a brown fabric rustled, rounded behind him and advanced.
“HADOU…”
“SONIC BOOM!!!”
A discus of light, shaped as a crescent moon, flew at Ken. He hurled himself and Ryu
away from it as it blasted through the fireplace. The flames were extinguished even as
the stalker began to laugh. Ken couldn’t afford to waste time on another mystical attack.
His Hadouken was too slow and he lacked the necessary power to try twice in one day.
“Guile…,” Ken said angrily. “I should have known it was you!” He looked up from
where he was hiding behind a long, oak table. *Where is he?* The room was empty.
“What do you want from me?” He knelt back down to Ryu and gently moved his
fingertips over the lump on the back of Ryu’s head. It wasn’t bleeding much but Ken
was afraid that Ryu had a concussion. He couldn’t let Guile get near Ryu again.
On the count of three, Ken dashed across the room, hoping to draw Guile’s fire. He
dropped and rolled when he heard those heavy boots clomping on the floor, rushing after
him.
“You know Guile, I thought that you were a bigger man than this.”
Ken turned but was grabbed suddenly and flung towards the window. He barely missed
landing in a pile of spiky glass and splintered wood.
“I guess not.” *I can beat Guile. Now that I know it’s him. I helped Ryu defeat Bison,
who does Guile think he is?* As Ken was starting to charge at where he thought Guile
was, the next attack shocked him.
“KIKOSHOU!!!” An enormous bubble of blue energy cascaded around where Guile
should have been. The encompassing fireball forced Ken back, nearly singing his arms
and legs.
*That’s Chun Li’s move. What’s going on?* Ken squinted his eyes to see the shape
behind the Kikoshou. It was a man, approximately Ryu’s height, an inch taller than him. And it wasn’t Guile. But who was it? *Now is my chance.*
Whenever Chun Li performed the Kikoshou, she needed a three second window of
recovery to recharge. Ken wasn’t going to give it to this impostor.
“HADOU-SHOURYU!!!” His horizontal version of Ryu’s rising dragon uppercut raced
for the stalker, the ethereal presence of a red dragon stoking his fist. Flames sprung out
everywhere around his body as he aimed for the man’s head.
“SOUL REFLECT!” A tentacle-like ray of power blasted his dragon out through the
roof, leaving Ken defenseless.
*Rose?* Ken had knowledge of the woman who had the powers of a gypsy. She guarded
her soul power and had been searching to destroy Bison herself. But, Ken knew her
about as well as he knew the president. Not at all. How could this man know her secret
techniques?
“Are you ready to lie at my feet, my beloved?” The man laughed, shirking off the
remnants of the Kikoshou. His face was cloaked in a black scarf wrapped to his face,
revealing only his eyes, mouth and nose.
“Go to hell!” In one last futile attempt to get rid of the intruder, Ken picked up the
shovel the man had dropped. Then he sliced it at his head, ready to cleave it off of his
shoulders.
Either Ken was too slow or couldn’t do it because the next minute, he crumpled to the
floor. In his haste to best his opponent, Ken had let his anger rule him. He put up no
guarding arm and made it too simple for the stalker to punch him out. Now, the stalker
had them both. He could do as he pleased with them. His first order of business was to
tie Ryu and Ken up, lock them in the trunk of his car and drive away.
*******************************************************
“Ken. Ken. Wake up.”
Ken moaned and felt a steady beam of sunshine pricking his eyes. He tried to block it out
with his arm but it wouldn’t move.
“Ken. It’s Ryu. Hurry, we have to get out of here.”
Why did Ryu sound funny? Was he thirsty? *Never mind Ryu, I’m thirsty.* He glanced
up and saw not Ryu but the man with the black scarf. “Asshole!!!” At least Ken hoped
that’s what the stalker would hear. He couldn’t even understand himself with a piece of
cloth pressing against the back of his throat.
“I make a good Ryu impression, don’t you think? If that’s what’s bothering you, don’t
worry about it. I can pretend to be Ryu, you pretend to be Ken and we’ll both pretend to
be happy. What do you say?”
When Ken tried to say something, he ended up choking and coughing, his face turning
red. He couldn’t breathe. But he couldn’t sit up to ease his air passages. His arms were
bound above his head, and his legs to the other end of the bed he was immobilized on.
“Should I let you choke to death?” He watched Ken with some amusement as his
choking grew worse. “No, that wouldn’t be any fun.” The man untied the cloth and
pulled it out of Ken’s mouth. “Don’t you feel better now?” He leaned down to get a kiss
out of the younger man but Ken spat in his face.
“Why don’t you pay someone off of the street? I would rather die than kiss you.” His
voice was wispy but the tone said it all.
“Then you will die. Oh…did I just say that? No, I wouldn’t kill you, my lovely Ken. I
want you. Maybe I’ll kill Ryu in your place.”
“Where’s Ryu? What have you done with him?!!” Ken struggled against his bonds,
reflexively head butting the man when he went for another kiss.
“If you keep this up, I won’t tell you.” He temporarily gave in, leaving Ken to exhaust
himself.
Upon his departure, Ken quickly scanned the room for something to free his arms and
legs with. It was an empty room, not even a room by the looks of it. There were
corroded pipes above him and below him. The floor was made of cement, cracked and
warped cement. And the ceiling leaked in places reminding him of an unchecked
basement. He was in the stalker’s basement, goose bumps rising on his flesh before he
noticed that the upper half of his body was missing a shirt. What was the man going to
do with him?
**************************************************
In another room, halfway on the other side of the unfinished basement, Ryu was chained
up to a support girder. His wrists and ankles were locked behind him, forcing him onto
his knees and cutting off any circulation he hoped of getting. He had been alert for quite
some time now, playing dead like a good prisoner. His concentration provided him with
the entire exchange between Ken and the other man. What he couldn’t see hurt him the
most.
“You can stop acting, Hoshi Ryu. I know you can sense me.” The man moved the tip of
his boot under Ryu’s chin and thrust his head up. “Do you like people respecting your
Japanese heritage, Ryu? I find that it’s best to keep a good repertoire with my captives
by humoring them. What do you think of that, Ryu-sama?,” he goaded.
“I think that if you lay one hand on Ken’s body, I’m going to show you what death looks
like.” There was no restraint in Ryu’s threat, only the horrible promise he gave.
“How would you know? He’s on the other side of this building. What I do to him will
not get back to you. How does that make you feel, Ryu?”
Ryu lurched against his chains, going bezerk in a wild frenzy. He wanted this man
hacked to pieces at his feet. The way Ryu was brought up outlined that messing with
one’s spouse or lover was dishonorable and poisonous to one’s soul. But this man
seemed to be ignorant of such a rule.
“I’m warning you. You don’t know what I’m capable of.” He yanked harder, his wrists
becoming slick with blood as he chafed off his skin.
“Then again…” The man laughed at Ryu’s helplessness. “So Ryu, have you guessed
who I am yet? Maybe I don’t want Ken at all. Maybe I’m an old enemy who wants
revenge on you.”
“I have no enemies. Bison perished so that just leaves Ken’s father and he only recently
discovered our affair. So, if it’s fame you’re looking for or recognition, you have
neither.”
“DAMN YOU!” The man kicked Ryu’s ribcage and grabbed a fistful of his hair. “You
will know me and then you’ll suffer. I’ll take your precious Ken and dance over your
grave.”
Ryu licked the blood on his lips and smiled at the stalker. “You aren’t so tough to let
someone as ‘helpless’ as me get on your nerves. I can take whatever you can dish out.”
He wanted to get the man’s temper out, to smother it before he went back to Ken.
A sigh of realization turned into laughter. “That was smart, Ryu. Are you tricking me
into forgetting about my beloved Ken? Oh, he wanted me to give you this.” He dropped
Ryu’s shirt into his lap. “He won’t be needing it.”
The next time Ryu pulled against his bonds, he felt the pain as deep as his bones. His
hands were cupped behind his back in their cramped position, catching the blood that
pooled into his palms. He kept at it, even when the man disappeared. He had to get
himself on his feet before Ken suffered an unimaginable fate.
*******************************************************
Ken was busy chewing at the ropes binding his wrists and didn’t hear the stalker reenter.
He assumed that Ryu would keep him occupied long enough for him to escape. But, the
ropes were thick and it was hard work twisting his neck and getting some slack to bite
into them.
“Are you hungry?”
The voice startled Ken into looking up. He saw the man was now wearing a gi similar to
the one that Ryu wore. Only, it was brown and ripped in more places than Ryu’s had
been.
“Get bent!” Ken gave him his cockiest ‘fuck you’ expression and went back to chewing
the rope. He would not let some crazy man deter him or break him.
“What did you say to me?” The stalker pressed the flat end of a serrated blade on Ken’s
abdomen, pointing down. He was evidently pissed off.
It was at that point that Ken became very frightened. Something inside the man had
snapped. He seemed to thrive on attention and being made fun of only riled him up
more. “Nothing. Watch where you point that thing.” He remained absolutely still, not
even daring to breathe.
“Oh, now you want to be nice? Well, now it’s too late.” He slid the knife down lower,
the blade chilling Ken’s flesh. One of the man’s hands rested on Ken’s flat stomach,
warming him on the outside but freezing him on the inside. Then, he moved the knife
lightning fast. Ken sucked in his stomach, trying in vain to avoid the jagged edges from
injuring him. He vaguely noticed that his pants had been cut open because he nearly had
a heart attack.
The stalker stepped back and leered at Ken. There was a psychotic, lustful sparkle to his
dark eyes. He couldn’t see too far down Ken’s pants that had formerly been Ryu’s. But
this excited him, the unknown and savoring the suspense. He liked making Ken look
cheap and thought that Ryu might appreciate the sentiment as well.
Five minutes later, he shoved a very volatile Ryu into the room and chained him to the
end of the bed. Ryu’s eyes went wide when he saw Ken’s appearance. His expression
was mirrored in Ken’s eyes when Ken saw that Ryu’s hands were dripping blood down
his legs.
“Ryu, are you okay?” Ken strained against his bonds, trying to get a clearer look.
“Yes, are you?”
“Not really.” He shut his eyes tightly when an unfamiliar hand traveled down his neck,
eliciting a response of disgust from him. He didn’t want to watch, to see what was being
done to him.
“Don’t you want to join in, Ryu? We can share,” the stalker joked.
“I said DON’T TOUCH HIM!” Ryu thrashed violently against the chains and felt one of
his ankles come free. He shook the chains off from it, hiding his legs at the bottom of the
bed. Then, he yanked again and again, not listening to Ken’s cries, if he did they would
drive him mad.
Ken was reacting just as emotionally as his lover. He wanted to untie himself but
couldn’t. He also wanted Ryu to quit struggling, he hated to see the agony Ryu was
putting himself through. But the touch of his stalker sent him reeling down another path
where he could only afford to think of his life. This time, the man’s hand was
somewhere inside his thighs. Too close to where only Ryu had permission to touch him.
He kicked and screamed but couldn’t dislodge that hand which crept up his legs.
Before Ken could be violated, Ryu grabbed onto the end-board with both hands and
jumped up, kicking the man’s elbow joint. He heard a snapping sound and the grinding
of dislocated bones.
“THAT’S IT! I’VE HAD IT WITH YOU!!”
Ryu turned his scream inwards when a white-hot pain trailed down his leg. He had been
cut and stabbed in the leg which had offended the stalker. His right shin felt like it was
separate from the rest of his body. Throbbing with the escaping stain of blood mapping a
route down his leg and gathering on the floor with the rest of his wounds. It was too
much, even for Ryu. He fainted.
In all the commotion, Ken had loosened the knotted ropes and slipped one hand and then
the other free. He quietly untied his ankles, sneaking glances at the stalker who was
kicking Ryu’s unconscious body. Without another thought, he leaped at the man,
grabbed the knife and plunged it into his collarbone. It was that very bone which kept the
man alive. Ken couldn’t push the blade past the bone, missing his attacker’s throat
entirely.
“You give Shotokan masters a bad name,” the man yelled. He swiped Ken off of the bed
and landed on top of him , pinning him down. “If I was a master of the Shotokan art of
karate, I would not be as stupid as you are. And guess what, I am. I’m beginning to think
that you’re much more of a tramp than any good amusement for me.” He smacked Ken
and roughly rubbed away Ken’s tears with his thumb. “I don’t know how Ryu got you in
bed because all you do is play hard to get.” Another slap and Ken could barely keep his
composure.
“What have I ever done to you,” Ken moaned. He tried to move his hand to intercept the
next blow but was slapped for the third time. He couldn’t keep his eyes open, and now
his face stung with an unlucky bruise and painful tears.
“You give yourself too much credit. Who said I was ever after you?” He pushed Ken’s
hand away and grabbed firmly to his hair, snapping the elastic in it. “This isn’t about
you. It never was. Of course you and Ryu were never as intelligent as me. Wasn’t it so
much of a coincidence that I started to stalk you after Ryu got laid?”
Ken glared up at him with red, bleary eyes. He was on the verge of crying because of
how hopeless it had all become. “Then this is just to make Ryu angry.”
“That’s right.”
“Ryu never hurt anyone in his life. What did he do to you that gives you the right to do
this to us?”
He pressed his hips down on Ken, crushing him and grinding his hard cock into Ken’s
abdomen. “On second thought, maybe having you here is a good thing.”
“ANSWER ME!” Ken crossed his legs, preventing any further contact with the stalker.
“WHO ARE YOU?”
“Wouldn’t you love to know?” He shifted higher on Ken to hold down Ken’s arms with
his knees. Then, he reached back and unraveled the scarf which fell away from him.
Ken stared for a long time at the man, not recognizing him at all. He saw brown hair, a
short ponytail, dark brown eyes. But, it meant nothing to him, this man was a nobody. “I
don’t know you,” he said quietly. He had been hoping to immediately identify this man,
to know who he was and hate him for it. Now, it only proved how pointless the whole
ordeal had been. “And Ryu doesn’t know you either.”
“Wrong, Ken. He knows me and so do you.”
“You’re insane! I don’t know you!”
The man was about to slap Ken again but stopped when Ryu spoke up. “You just don’t
remember,” he said, wiping the blood from his mouth and clutching at his leg.
“So, I see you do,” he sneered at Ryu.
“I couldn’t forget someone as sadistic as you, Dan.” Ryu was about to comment more
but bit his tongue when Dan raised his hand, daring Ryu to open his mouth. He would hit
Ken again and this time kill him.
“Tell him, Ryu. Tell him what you did to me.”
“When you first came to Japan to learn Shotokan karate with me, Dan was also a
student.” Ryu tried to make eye contact with Ken but was dismayed when Ken seemed
to crack under the pressure. “Sensei Gouken only wanted to teach two students and had
to keep letting students go until he was left with two. Before you came, Dan and I were
the two left. When you joined us, Sensei had to begin the process all over again. Dan
was too competitive and had certain mental…” He took back the word when Dan
threatened Ken again. “Problems,” he corrected himself, “that weren’t suitable for
Sensei’s training. So, Sensei asked me one day who I thought would be a better student
because I was at a higher level than the both of you. I chose you Ken, without hesitation.
Dan was nearby and heard my decision, holding it against me even when I tried to make
it up to him when he was let go.”
“And he held this grudge for this many years, something that happened to him when he
was only a few years older than me? And now he wants to get even with you?” Ken
shook his head, watching Ryu who was in turn watching him. “All this because of one
bad rejection early in life?”
Dan smiled and rubbed his erection to Ken’s stomach. “You won’t reject me, will you
Ken? Ryu can stay there like a good boy and see how a real man does it.” He began to
unzip his pants.
“Ryu, please get him off of me,” Ken cried out. He was terrified of what lay ahead of
him if Dan got his way. He also knew how much he was asking of Ryu, the condition his
lover was in. But, he couldn’t tolerate the actions of this man he still didn’t know.
There was one thing which Ryu hated more than seeing Ken hurt and that was seeing him
cry. To see him rendered helpless and then taken advantage of aroused emotions in him
he didn’t even know existed. Only he was allowed to touch Ken like that, to provide him
with pleasure. To see another trying to get the same response that he did made him
beyond fury. It wasn’t so much the crying as someone else witnessing it, knowing that
Ken didn’t like to be seen as weak.
Ryu grabbed the chains wrapping his other ankle to the bed and held on tight. He yanked
and twisted, even as he heard Ken’s next scream.
Dan no longer had his hand on his zipper, he was trying to stifle Ken’s screams. The last
thing he wanted was for outsiders to intervene. But trying to hold onto Ken was like
attempting to subdue a scared cat. Ken clawed and bit Dan repeatedly when the man
tried to cover his mouth. They wrestled with each other but Dan never gave up his
position on top. He grabbed onto Ken’s wrists with one hand and belted him numerous
times with the other. It didn’t matter what part of Ken he made contact with, as long as it
muted the screams.
Still pulling on his chains, Ryu wanted to cover his ears with each blow Ken took. Dan
hadn’t noticed that Ken had stopped calling for help, intent on concluding the torture he
had to endure. But, Dan was oblivious to this fact, too consumed with frustration over
Ken’s behavior.
“STOP IT!” Ryu begged, even as his left wrist snapped one of the links in the chain,
freeing him. “You’re going to kill him!”
“No! I have to shut him up. I won’t be laughed at anymore.” Dan sat there, resting his
weight on Ken’s waist and prepared to punch Ken’s ribs. “This is something they don’t
teach you in martial arts school, Ryu. How to hurt a man without killing him, that way
he lives to experience the pain. For instance, did you know that by puncturing his lungs
with a couple of broken ribs, he may have more than a few minutes to live before
suffocating?”
The chain sank onto the mattress of the bed, hanging from the end-board as Ryu took the
first step towards Ken. A shattering wave of pain spread through his leg but he moved
on, dragging the limp leg behind him. All he could hear was Ken’s sobbing, even now he
called for Ryu. Sheer agony washed down his leg but he moved on, stooping down to
pick up the knife. He thought back to how everyone had surmised that Ken’s stalker was
just a misled man who didn’t have the guts to approach him. How wrong they had all
been.
*Mr. Masters said that he’d catch this jerk. He guaranteed that Ken would be alright.
But, when it came down to being there for Ken…for us…he was nothing but a coward.*
And now here they were. The best part was that Dan had never intended to include Ken
in his revenge. No. He only added Ken to his agenda to hurt Ryu, to punish him. All of
this hovered over his conscience.
Dan was calmer by then, or at least in a dense sort of way. He stroked one of his hands
over Ken’s forehead, smiling at him. “See, if you behave, I won’t have to do anything
like this again.”
Something in Ken’s eyes had gone out. There was no comprehension or emotion, only
indifference. His eyes still filled with tears but he didn’t have the energy to let them slip
away.
“Ken?” Confusion was on Dan’s face. Why wasn’t Ken answering him?
Ryu crossed the last few steps to Dan in one stagger and rammed the knife down into the
back of his neck. “I will never forgive what you have done to him!” He swiped back
Dan’s grabbing hands, making him suffer the blade lodged in him. “Are you happy now?
Your fight was with me, not him! It didn’t bother you, did it? Stalking him, hurting him
and me.” He shoved the knife in further, inching it up to the base of Dan’s skull.
“I was the better fighter.” Slowly, Dan slumped off of Ken, onto his side where Ryu
refused to stop his wicked ministrations. “Why did you have to get everything? The
talent, the fame, him,” he nodded at Ken. Then he fought with Ryu some more but never
won. “I should have been the one. But nooo, you get the rich boyfriend, the Hadouken
crappy super move. What did I ever get?”
“Nothing! Because you never earned any of it. Instead, you decide to take everything
from me. Well Dan, I promised you that if you touched Ken, I would kill you. It won’t
be a big loss to this world either. You are a lost cause, a worthless pile of flesh that does
not deserve to live.”
“So kill me then. Can’t you see how much you’re hurting me?” Dan laughed
sarcastically. “Let me tell you now, it might take a while. Now…let’s see, what’s more
important to you? Killing me or getting dear Kenneth to a hospital. No pressure, Ryu,
it’s all up to you.”
*He’s right.* Ryu glanced at Ken and saw that he had completely withdrawn into
himself. His pain was mingled with the emotional, physical and spiritual. How could he
let Ken lie there when he needed help? *But, if I let him go, he’ll come after us again.*
“You will pay!” Ryu hoisted Dan onto the bed and wrapped the chains around his throat.
He then proceeded to get on the bed, stand on his toes and secure the chain to one of the
rafters on the ceiling. Dan’s wrists and ankles were expertly trussed up, saving him for
later. And Ryu would finish what he started the moment Ken was safe and stable.
“Don’t even try to escape, it will only prolong your agony.”
Ken didn’t glance up when Ryu draped the rumpled shirt over his shoulders. He gave
Ryu no answer when he was spoken to. But he did moan when Ryu brushed against one
of his arms. The bruises were too harsh for him to look at, so he covered them up with
the shirt. At last the nightmare was over. They had discovered Ken’s tormentor but it
had resulted in more of a catastrophe than anything else. How long would it take to put
this incident behind them?
“I’m taking you home,” Ryu said to Ken. He knew that Ken could hear him but still
sniffed when there was no response. Keeping one eye on Dan, Ryu lifted Ken into his
arms and cradled him close to his heart. He kissed Ken’s cheek, glaring with more
hostility at Dan when all Ken did was shiver.
“If he isn’t speaking to me by the time I reach the hospital, not even your pleas for mercy
will deter me from killing you.”
“Aww, poor Ryu is gonna cry,” taunted Dan. “Is the big, muscle-boy upset? Maybe I
should apologize.” Another crazed laugh rumbled in his chest. “You can take your time,
Ryu. By the time you get back, I’ll be gone. Or…can you make it out of my house alive?
What an interesting question.”
Ryu whirled on Dan, not hiding the fact that he was crying. “I hope you burn in hell!”
He kicked Dan’s legs out from under him, letting the chain do the rest. The last thing he
saw was Dan hanging from the ceiling, laughing despite his predicament.
“RYU!” Dan swung back and forth, searching with his feet for the bed beneath him.
“One last thing! How do you think I got all of this power? Why don’t you ask Ken about
my newfound abilities. Oh wait, he won’t answer, will he?”
******************************************************
The stairs outside of the basement were cold and slimy under Ryu’s bare feet but he ran
up them, providing his own traction with his toes. He couldn’t afford to hesitate or Ken
could leave him. More acid clouded his vision, ate away at his stamina. What if he
couldn’t find a hospital?
“Ken, you have to come back to me.” He reached the top of the stairs and gave Ken a
quick kiss on his lips. Static buzzed through him, charged his body with positive energy.
Was this the same phenomenon which had occurred the first time he had truly touched
Ken? *Ken?*
A presence flitted on the outskirts of his mind, playing with him until he caught it. *It
was never Dan.*
*What?* Ryu realized that he could hear Ken’s thoughts. When he gazed down at Ken,
he got no type of awareness. It was as if he had retreated where he would not have to
feel the pain. *Running is not the solution. I’m here for you.*
*No, something bad is coming.* Ken closed his eyes and projected an image to Ryu, a
dark one.
“How do you know this?,” he asked aloud. He had one foot out the door, looking
forward to the natural light outside.
*You can’t go outside. I can feel him, he’s waiting for us.*
“Ken, come away from there!” Ryu now knew where Ken was. He had discarded his
body too quickly and mentally escaped to a higher plane of cognitive awareness. On that
plane, Ken could sense another being that he deemed as being ‘dark’ or evil. Ryu wanted
Ken far from the evil presence. As he concentrated, he could also feel the evil one
lurking outside.
*I don’t want to.*
“I want you here where I can protect you.” Ryu kissed Ken passionately, drawing him
back into his body where he immediately fought his own pain receptors. “Now what?”
“He wants Dan. Ryu, please let him take Dan. I don’t want you killing him.” Ken
buried his face against Ryu and clung to him. “If he gets Dan, he’ll leave us alone.”
“After all he did, …I can’t. Look at what he did to you. How can I let him live?”
“You can’t fight this other man. He’s too powerful…you just can’t…not when you’re
like this. You can’t even walk. Ryu, I’m begging you. I love you.. .I don’t want you to
die.”
Ryu considered his options and cursed them. He would have to let Dan go. Ken still
required medical attention. “Only for you. My love for you is more important. But
when you are better, I will hunt him down and kill him.”
*No you won’t. You aren’t like him.* Ken kept that thought to himself, holding onto
Ryu tightly while closing his eyes as he was carried out of Dan’s house. He didn’t want
to see the man standing in plain sight on the lawn. Ken knew that Ryu would not be able
to see him but the lingering knowledge Ken had gave him that extra sight. So, he
remained blind while Ryu took him to safety.
