General Rules: Try to apply as many Duelist Convcation card rulings as much as possible. With the exception of the draw rule, the first player gets to draw. (There is no benifit to go first if everyone bolts you.) Deck Requirements: Standard Duelist Convocation Type 1 or Type 2 decks are acceptable, but type 1.5 is generally prefered. Your deck should meet all criteria for a deck type. (No 3 Recalls and a Sol Ring, heck no multiple Sol rings).
Attacking: When a player declares an attack, all of the attacking creatures must be declared at the same time. Note: a player may split an attack against different opponents. The attacker doesn't need to state who he/she attacks until he/she taps the creature to attack. It is highly advisable to always anounce your attack phase wait for reponse, then declare what attacks who. Note: If one player casts a fog or similar spell it will affect all of combat, not just the player who cast it.
Piling up effects: If multiple poeple want to do something at the same time, the person whose turn it is goes first then the first to speak up. If there is a dispute on whose spell/effect is to go first, the player closest on the left of the active player goes first.
Death of a player: Suggested method for dealing with a player's death is that all of the cards they own go with them. This includes cards currently under control of another player that is still alive. Note: A variant for small meeting groups is to have corpse rules where the dead player permanents are still in play that may be needed to be taken care of and the player maybe brought back to life through life gaining spells and effects. The dead player may not make any action (except maybe declare blocking if "corpse" is attacked).
Various rulings have been passed in my play group refering to how to deal with special cases, which are:
If a permanent is under control of a dying player by means of a permanent (Control Magic, Aladdin) it is return to its owner. If the permanent is not controled by a permanent (Ritual of Machine, Helm of Obediance) it is buried in its owner's graveyard.
House Rulse
With the advant of Fifth edition my play group has agreed on the following rule: Play as the card is written (cards of other languages are played by latest wording). The exception to this rule is if the card has recieved specific errata like City of Solitude and Runk Egg.
I know I missed some of the rules and rulings on this. Write to me at archive@mich.com if you any comments or sugeestions.
