According to Yukan Fuji (a Japanese sports newspaper), it was "officially
announced" that MH will be released in "1000 screens in 100 cities" in the US
on July 9th. The annoucement was made at the press conference for the release
of "Hohokekyo Tonari no Yamada-Kun (My Neighbors the Yamadas)", held in Tokyo

The press conference was attended by about 1,000 reporters.

It was mentioned in the evening and night news shows on NTV yesterday (NTV is
one of the investors to Yamada). Morning TV shows also mentioned about it,
with a movie trailer of Yamada.

Sankei Newspaper's site (http://www.sankei.co.jp/mov/movie.html) also mentions
about the press conference and July 9th release of MH, so I am now certain
that it was indeed announced at the press conference. (But remember, Miramax
can change the release schedule even after they officially announced the
release date.)
