Story of Tan Ah Kow

  There was this man, by the name of Tan Ah Kow.  He was very devoted to his
  religion, and followed every teaching that his religion taught.  He had
  this firm belief, that if one day he is in trouble, his God will help him.

  So it was, he happened to be in the ill-fated cruise, Princess Virgo, the
  one that caught fire and sank last year near Penang(?).  As soon as the ship
  caught fire, the captain started evaculate the passengers onto the safety boats.

  Ah Kow did not follow the order as he believed his God will save him.
  Soon, water starts getting into the ship, reaching the knee.  By then, he is the
  only passenger left.  The captain insist that he followed the rest onto the
  safety boat but he refused, giving the same reason.  The captain had no choice
  but to leave him there.

  One minute later, the boat was sinking fast and water was reaching his
  waist line. One fishing boat passed by, saw him, and offered to carry him
  along.  But he still refused, insisting that his God will save him.

  Two more minutes passed, and the water now reached his chest. Another boat
  came by and offered help, but he still refused to leave the boat.

  When a third boat came and saw him, the water had reached his neck. With
  the same firm belief, that his God will save him, he refused the help.

  So finally, he was drown, and his spirit brought before his God.  He was
  very angry  and asked why didn't his God save him?  The God was also very
  angry, and told him this : "I have sent three boats to save you, but you kept refusing.
  What more can I do?"



  Morale of the story 1.
  Some time, the solution to your problem can be reached if you just stretch
  out your hand.  Don't wait to be spoon-feeded.

  Morale of the story 2
  When it is your turn to be brought before your God(whatever religion) and
  ask him why he did not make you rich, the worst answer will be ; "I have created
  ToTo  every Monday and Thursday, 4-D every Saturday and Sunday, and Big Sweep
  every first Wednesday of the month, together with Big Sweep-4D, but you did not
  buy any of them.  What more can I do?"
