Alternate Worlds

Butterfly

By: Kelley Gillespie

This was originally going to be the 7th Alternate Worlds story, but once I started, I couldn't stop, so now it's the third. Oh well! This story is about a character most people don't know about, Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon. (Papillon is french for butterfly.) She was the last Sailor Animate and was only in the manga. I was reading about her and became captivated with her character. I couldn't help but wonder what she did before becoming a Sailor Animate. I read on one site that she changed all the people of her planet into butterflies to save them from Galaxia, so I decided to go a little deeper into that. This is a fairly short story (That's why the intro is sooooo long!) It's my own take on her history and I made up her attacks. Enjoy.

*************************************************

It was a time long ago, a time long forgotten to our historians. It was a time known as the Sailor Wars. On a faraway planet known as Papillon, the gorgeous princess of the planet sat upon her throne. There were several people in her throne room that day. They shouted their questions at her.

"Are we really safe?"

"What if Galaxia attacks? Are we safe?"

"Are you sure you can protect us?!"

"Listen! Calm down, minna. I am prepared for the worst possible case scenarios. I will protect you. I am the soldier and princess of this planet. Do not fear. As your leader, I could never desert you," Princess Papillon said.

The crowd rejoiced, now assured they would be alright.

Princess Papillon excused herself and went to her chamber. She sat down and began to brush her long purple hair with a golden brush. She paused, gazing in the mirror at her blue and purple, as well as pink, jeweled tiara that sat on her head. The tiara was composed of a bunch of interlinking butterflies, all of which made of jewels.

"I lied," She told her reflection. "I am not prepared for everything. If Galaxia does attack, I'll just have to fight as hard as I can."

The princess stood up, straightening her long purple dress. "I hope I am prepared," She said.

A week later, the horrible event occured. Galaxia, now posessed by Chaos, attacked the planet of Papillon.

Civilians screamed as Galaxia tore down whole buildings, whichused to be their homes. She laughed as she watched things that took years to create vanish into ashes within seconds.

"Yamete!" A voice cried.

"Who are you?!" Galaxia asked.

"I am the sailor senshi of this planet. I am Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon, the butterfly soldier. For my planet and my people, I will punish you!" Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon said.

"You don't hold a candle to me! I am Galaxia, the golden queen!" Galaxia cried.

She attacked Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon. She dodged Galaxia's attacks and shielded herself with her butterfly-like wings. However, as the fight raged on, Galaxia's attacks only got stronger.

Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon knew she had to use her strongest attack.

"Butterfly Graveyard!"

Not even her strongest attack could kill Galaxia. It wounded her arm, but that was all.

Galaxia laughed. "I do commend you on your effort. You managed to land a hit. Very rare.......A very rare heppening indeed. Too bad you must die," Galaxia said. She attacked Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon and her body slammed into a tree.

"Stop it you bitch!" One of the citizens cried, hitting Galaxia with a staff.

Galaxia turned and grabbed her by her neck.

"That was a big mistake....." Galaxia hissed.

"No! Stop! Don't hurt her!" Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon cried.

"Hmm.......alright.......on only a few conditions," Galaxia said.

"Which are....?"

"Your choices are you can either surrender your star seed to me, killing you instantly; or you can take these specially designed bracelets that will make you my servant. You will obey everything I say and do as long as you wear them and believe me, you can't get them off," Galaxia said.

Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon looked worried.

"Take your choice. It's one way or the other...." Galaxia said.

Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon thought hard. ~ What can I do? How will I save my people?~ She thought. She remembered what she'd promised. As their leader she'd never desert them, she'd said. Then she realized she couldn't desert them, even if it meant her own downfall.

"Fine. Give me the bracelets and I'll obey you. I only have one request...." Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon said.

"Go on..." Galaxia said.

"Please let me use my power to turn my people into butterflies and send them to another planet so they can live on peacefully," Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon begged.

"Okay...But that's all I will let you do."

So Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon used her powers turning her people into butterflies and teleporting them all over the galaxy, mostly to the Earth.

~I did this for you, my people.~ She thought as she excepted Galaxia's bracelets. She felt her free will vanish as it was replaced by Galaxia's hatred and control.

She gazed at the stars and saw a butterfly fly past, landing on the flower infront of her. ~My people, forgive me. I did this all for you. I'm sorry I could not save this world.~

This was her story as well as her sacrifice. She was Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon, the butterfly of the grave.
