Air-Naccs (Nippon Automated Cargo Clearance System for Aircargo)

Started by a video presentation about Air-Naccs and Sea-Naccs.
The computer presentation was using a High Definition TV HDTV – a television with 6 times higher resolution than a conventional one. Presenter was Mr Taka.
About 95% of air cargo is being processed by Air-Naccs. The computer system consists mainly of terminals at various locations, network and computer center. Hardware used are main body (terminal) with keyboard, id card reader, modem, printer switcher, and printer.
Question: The system is located in one of the NTT building. What is NTT’s role?
Answer: NTT is responsible for the whole system operation.
Question: Who developed the system?
Answer: NTT Data.
Question: We have seen the staff operating the system in the data center. Obviously they are not NTT staff. Who are they?
Answer: Japan Timesharing Company.
Question: Malaysia is building a new KLIA. I believe the airport should have got a similar, if not the same, system. Have you sold the system to other countries?
Answer: No. But we plan to sell it to Indonesia.
Question: What is the purpose of having duplex system and ‘online / offline’ CPUs?
Answer: For backup purposes. Offline CPU is also used to transmit data during the night time to the host on the next morning automatically.
Question: How many transactions do the system handle?
Answer: Annually, there are about 7 million import transactions and 7 million export transactions.
