NTT Communication Ware Hokuriku Regional Division

We were welcomed by Mr Michinori Yashiki (used to be an OIC Course Director several years ago). He is now a Senior Manager in Accounting & Finance IS Project. We were later introduced to Mr Yokogashi, Mr Izumi and Mr Tsubota.

During the presentation, we were informed about their New Accounting Management System; In-house development of Project Management (and they are using this tool to manage the earlier mentioned New Accounting Management System); and Network Communications Monitoring Management System.

Question: In a project, normally among others, it involves budget, time, and resources. Your presentation of project management only addressed time and resources. You have never mentioned about the budget. How do you control your budget (money)?

Answer: Actually, this project management only acts as a subsystem to another project management which has cost function attached to it. That’s why the budget control is never mentioned here.

Question: It seems that your in-house-developed project management is quite similar to Microsoft Project Management (only it is written / displayed in Japanese). Why?

Answer: We find that Microsoft Project Management is limited in is controlling / managing functions to only a project leader or project manager. Our project management allows all team members to view their own progress, as well as others. As our customers are only Japanese, we do not have it in English (yet).

Another thank you speech.. by the class leader.
