26 Dec 04 - current The tsunami in Dec 04 has totally wiped out the homes of thousands of families. Moreover, the squalid living conditions necessitates urgent action to prevent the spread of disease and death.
Funds to this project will go towards construction and rental of permanent and temporary housing, and provision of basic facilities to the affected people.

Fishermen aid

26 Dec 04 - current The fishing industry has been devastated by the effects of the tsunami. Even though it has been a while since the tsunami, the livelihoods of fishermen are still crippled due to the heavy debt that they owe to the boat owners. Many of these fishermen have no other skills and cannot find a living elsewhere. Some have even commited suicide in desperation.
Funds to this project will go towards the purchase and rental of basic fishing equipment for the fishermen, so that they can slowly rebuild their livelihood.

Back to school

15 Jan 04 - current Schoolchildren in all the tsunami-affected areas have lost most of their school materials and have difficulty in continuing school. Because they usually come from poor families, some of these families are withdrawing their children from school.
Funds to this project will go towards the collection and distribution of used schoolbooks, and for subsidisation of school fees for affected children.
