Fushigi Yuugi Episode Guide(Series: 52 Episodes, 2 OVA series)

Intro Okay, I've seen the 52 episode broadcast, but as I understand it, there are some OVA's based on the last four mangas in Fushigi Yuugi that were not included in the 52 episode anime series. So this guide will only cover the original 52 episodes. If anyone has it subbed, pleased let me know how to get it. Thank you all.

Episode 1
  • Yuuki Miaka and her best friend Yui are 14 year old girls preparing for High School exams.
  • Miaka seems not to bright and obsessed with food, while her friend Yui is smart and determined.
  • Anyway, these two are best friends and one day they visit the Central Library.
  • While there, Miaka believes she sees a red bird, which leads her to a hidden room where Yui and her finds a book called "The Universe of the Four Gods".
  • The girls are absorbed into the book which is about ancient China.
  • The girls meet a man named Tamahome who the character ogre on his forehead.
  • Yui goes back to the real world, while Miaka wanders around the southern country of China looking for Yui and Tamahome.
    Episode 2
  • Miaka finds Tamahome and asks him if he kidnapped Yui. Tamahome denies it, but offers to help her find Yui.
  • Miaka sees the Emperor and asks him for help, but accidentally startles the guards by glowing with weird red light.
  • The Emperor is intrigued.
  • Miaka is consequently locked in jail with Tamahome.
  • Tama and Miaka escape, but are separated.
  • Miaka meets a strange woman who offers her help. Tama finds the guards and begins running like crazy.
  • The guards are stopped the strange woman who turns out to be the beautiful Emperor Hotohori.
  • Hotohori makes Miaka the "Suzaku no miko" or priestess of Suzaku.
    Episode 3
  • Hotohori explains the legend of "The Four God's Universe". If a girl from another world comes to that place, she can become priestess for one of the four gods. There are four countries in China, and each has it's own god. Each god has his own section in the sky, and each section has seven constellations. For the priestess to gain the wishes, she must find seven people with special abilities who have the symbol of one of the constellations on him or her.
  • Miaka and Tamahome start to fall in love.
  • Miaka gets in a jam and is saved by a super strong woman named Nuriko.
  • Nuriko is a seishi, but she doesn't like Miaka, she likes Tamahome, conflict appears.
  • Miaka works for Nuriko to gain her favor, while Tamahome is Nuriko's love slave.
    Episode 4
  • Miaka learns that Nuriko is in love with Hotohori and is jealous of the attention Hotohori gives Miaka.
  • Miaka agrees to tell Hotohori about Nuriko's feelings, but instead says "A girl in court has feelings for you.". Hotohori believes Miaka is the girl that she is talking of.
  • Hotohori reveals his loneliness to Miaka and tells her he loves her.
  • Miaka goes outside and is nearly kidnapped by bandits, but Tamahome saves her.
  • Miaka says she loves him, but Tamahome walks away. She passes out from a fever.
    Episode 5
  • Miaka recover from her fever.
  • Miaka learns that Nuriko is a man 
    Episode 6 "Although my Life is Over"
  • Taiitsu-kun tests Miaka by trapping her in a mirror.
  • Miaka's reflection leaves the mirror to cause chaos.
    Episode 7 "I want to go back"
  • Miaka and gang meet Taiitsu-kun. Miaka returns to the real world. 
    Episode 8 "I want to see"
  • Miaka tells her bro everything.
  • Miaka returns to China.
  • Learns that 3 months has passed in Konan.
  • Nuriko and Miaka go to find Tamahome, who left to find money.
  • Cliffhanger: Miaka is grabbed and pulled into the darkness. 
    Episode 9 "Invisible Enemies"
  • A strange character tells Miaka that she is the target of an assassination.
  • Guy dissapears.
  • Learns of the Seiyuu no miko
  • Miaka wonders if Yui is in Kutou. 
    Episode 10 "Captured Girl"
  • Cool song
  • Miaka enters Kutou territory and meets a shogun.
  • Miaka and Yui are reunited at last in the palace of Kutou.
  • The blue eyed shogun who picked up Miaka discovers that Miaka is Suzaku no miko. 
    Episode 11 "Seiryuu no miko"
  • Miaka notices that Yui has a scar on her wrist.
  • She deduces something happened 3 months ago to Yui.
  • Turning Point.
  • Yui witnesses Miaka and Tamahome's romantic scene.
  • Miaka is brought to the Seiryuu shrine by Yui.
  • Nakago reveals that he is a Seiryuu seishi (Character: kokoro)
  • Chichiri helps everyone escape... leaving behind Yui.
