Goals:
To enjoy my life my way. Side goals
are to learn as much about computers as possible, become as fluent in Japanese
as possible, and indulge in my various hobbies.
Skills:
Computer skills: I love computers and enjoying learning and
knowing about them. I have basic skills in programming and knowledge of
C, Java, Lisp, and HTML. I'm familiar with all the windows (even
DOS) and yes even ultra simplified Mac operating systems.
Japanese: 3 semesters in college. I practice it by translating Japanese music.
Video editing skills: This is the culmination of my hobbies. I use this skill to put English subtitles (that I translate) onto Japanese musicals. I encode files to my computer with a VCR and video card. I subtitle and encode with various freeware programs on the internet like Virtualdub (My favorite), Sub Station Alpha, etc.
Web page: I've run one since before 1998. Before using Netscape composer, I used to make my own pages with HTML in a text editor and using the internet as a reference. I like to keep my pages simple and efficient.
Hobbies:
Japanese: Music, anime, soap operas, musicals, models/toys, etc.
Subtitling: See Video editing section under Skills
Toy collecting: I like collecting, maybe I should open a toy store?
Video editing: see skills
Video games: My obsession, I suppose the only use for this is if I
became a game tester...
Personality:
I try to get along with everyone, but I like to
keep my world small, so I usually don't make many friends. I'm honest,
perhaps too much so. I keep quiet, I like to observe and absorb the
world's wealth in knowledge. I try to be a nice guy like my dad,
although I don't really like that since the equivalent of the ultimate
nice guy is a rug.
I try to be as logical as possible. I try
to rationalize everything instead of being controlled by my emotions, but
I'm not always successful with that.
I admit to being somewhat simplistic. I'm
usually only working on one level, with intentions blazing like giant,
crimson signs. I like what I like, and things that I don't actively
like can fall off the Earth for all I care.
Philosophy:
For me, a good grasp of thought is essential for
living a good life. Knowing your philosophy and morals is like having
the rules to the ultimate game, real life. Without these things you
won't know who you are, what life means to you, and you can't proceed or
advance because you don't know what you value.
I like keeping a good mindset. I value thinking
correct thinking and probably annoy all my friends by unwaveringly adhering
to my values even if it clashes with their own. Honor, honesty, sense
of right in the world, these are all things that I unfortunately believe
in. They have no place in a world of selfishness and gain through
exploitation, but again, I believe there is value in thinking the way I
believe in.
I believe in a world where every action has a consequence
and perhaps a purpose.
