My First Mini-Private Climbing Wall

By Anthony Huen Summer 2002

(Best Viewing size: . . . .i don't know. . .but should be better without ICQ)

YES!! My wall is finally done.

Total construction time is one month,

and the total cost is. . . .

ai . . OVER BUDGET~

Anyways, let's take a look. . .

This is my first mini wall but usually small wall won't be fun to climb with,

so I chose to put the wall 96" off the ground.

By doing so I have to climb the whole thing without much leg support, which is kinda challenging.

This is the preliminary design. Since drywall can't take much load,

I decided to first use some OD 3/4" metal pipes and 3/4" thick plywood

creating a metal frame, and then bolt the whole frame on the drywall.

However, this design was changed after my dad implied:

"It's stupid . . ."

3/4" plywood is now on the wall with 20 T-nuts installed on the back.

Waiting for wood filler to dry . . . . .

Waiting for paint to dry . . . .

DONE~

Top view . . . See the metal pipe on the right?

That's what I bought for constructing my prelim. frame.

Since the design has been changed and I have lost the receipt for refund,

I am using the pipe for safety. However, I still have 36 feet sitting in my garage.
