He Came and Will Come Again
He Came and Will Come Again
by Dianne Dimabuyo

I met him once a long time ago, back when I was young.
He came to pick my dad up as the silent hymns were sung.
As he passed me by, I glared at him and then held back a shudder.
Walked he with naught but unflustered grace, no expressionwhatsoever.
Angered, deprived, annoyed, confused, and hotly boiling over,
Thought I that his darkness should leave all lives from now untilforever.
Pausing, smiling, ever so slowly, he turned to look at me.
Came I to gaze at such a beautiful face, I felt as one blameworthy
For not many have seen a sympathy as freely given as I
There was a sadness, a calmness, an enchantment in his eye.
Turning to continue his walk out the church, he merged into thefading light.
I went out and gazed at the newly starlit sky and gazed at thebeauty of the night.
Where there is darkness, there will always be light
For eternal balance, not for an ongoing fight.
Once in a while, I would hear about him picking up in differentplaces.
He came not to bring grief, but to end all pain, pain brought on inmany faces.
I know that someday, unexpectedly, he would come like a thief inthe night
To take me back to that faraway place reserved for me in the light.
I know that someday I would always look forward to the day whenhe comes for me,
And he shall take me to that place where he could set me free.
Free of all pain, free of all sorrow, free of all that weighs me down;
A life of joy, a life of contentment, a life of freedom from allfrowns.
Just like one day he'll come for me, one day he'll come for you.
There is nothing in this world as dependable as this fact that is tootrue.
