SUNSET
by Dianne DimabuyoI watched the sun slowly slipping into the edge of the world
As it tried to hang on to the sky.
It was as if it would not let go of its rightful throne.
Desperately, he clung to the clouds.
Not noticeable to the human eye,
He just kept slipping,
The darkness crept up unnoticed;
I just realized it was there.
It seemed like a child just suddenly spilled paint all over the sky.
You could not see the edge of this gigantic blot
As it kept coming, creeping, threatening to wash out the sun.
Finally, with one mighty yawn, the sun decided to go to sleep.
It has been a long day and it's time to rest.
With a quick goodnight, he promised to return tomorrow.
Just for me.
