Remember Those Years...

Remember...The first year (1975)

In early January 1975 when we first met each other at block J, a block specially dedicated for form one students. Our prefects in-charge Ismail Tapo and Ahmad Sufian were too eager to brief us about school's rules and regulations.

We were part of the demonstration against school administration. Some of us sort of wanted to go back home after the night of tennis court meeting. Well, at least we get a few days off by going through all these night meetings.

Remember...The second year (1976)

We all move to join our seniors based on house-colors. In fact, this was the year they resorted back to house-colors block.

Remember...The third year (1977)

This year was quite an achievement for us. Both in sports and academic alike. The U-15 soccer team managed to beat all odds to emerge Perak Champions. In fact we never lost a game. Hey! You guys remember when Mr. Stuart Taylor asked us to run 4 miles at 2.00 p.m., his motto, "If you are late, don't come". Remember, he dropped 6 players for games against Izzudin School because of the punctuality offense.

The cricket and hockey got modest results. Only in rugby we did falter. Lost to Anderson School. Ohh! That big bully fat boy bulldozed through our defense. We had no chance, really!

Our first hurdle, SRP, we passed through with flying colors, 100 passes that is, considering us being the guinea pig taking the exam in malay medium at this school. Unfortunately, some of us were considered unfit to do Science Stream at this school but can do so at other daily schools. So we bit good byes to Ayub, Enjefri and Mutalib (are there others?).

Remember...the fourth year (1978)

Ohhh! This is the honeymoon year! In fact, most of us have not done any work except a few hardworking souls.

Remember...the fifth year (1979)

This is the year we were waiting for. Actually, most of us really started working only in the second term. The store rooms are our favorite hangouts. Collecting cigarettes from juniors are our favorite past time. You guys remember when the wardens found a bagful of cigarettes boxes up the ceiling of our store room during one of their spot-checks.

Hey, remember one of us played prank by putting the Sahur meal tray in front of En Rozalli Nordin office. And he publicly claimed it was done by form four student and want that student in his office by noon. We have a good laugh after that, and better Breakfasting and Sahur menus after that.

Remember...the extended year (1980)

Some of us were forced to come back for lower six in early January. Then a few were asked to go back (lucky for them) because the school adminstration said due to indiscipline. Actually, most of them should play a good part in that year soccer campaign.

Lucky few managed to go to Australia, United Kingdom and United States before the SPM results were announced. Well, they were the selected ones. The rest of us have to wait until we get the results a few weeks before the first term ended. Imagine, all of us have to go through the first term exam, which none of us were interested with. Predictably, we managed to pass only the Biology paper. That was beacuse the then Cik Dasimah kept reminding us the previlege we were getting to pursue our study here. Remember, Raai drew "the burung belatuk graph" in Physics exam to imitate the teacher's hairstyle.

Once we get the results, applications to local universities begun. Then, one by one our friends left looking for their destiny. Finally we were left in three groups. Group One, those who were going overseas: teachers don't want anything to do with this group since teaching them will be a waste of time as they will pursuing different kind of studies. Group Two, those who were doing Science Stream: again, teachers avoided this group since they would be transferred to SDAR anyway. Group Three, those who choose to do Lower Six Arts, which meants what they have learnt in the first term were worthless.

Remember...Almost twenty years have passed. It's time for us to meet again.
