The Anime International Company (a.k.a. AIC) owns the rights to both Bubblegum Crisis and the AD. Police, and as of November, 1997, owns the rights to Bubblegum Crash! because Artmic dissolved. What this means is that all the material on these pages is copyrighted by AIC, the world's most prudish, greedy anime company.
Oddly enough, they were using Bubblegum Crash! images on their website before they owned the series, in which case they set a very poor example for fans everywhere. They will not allow their music to be distributed in any format unless it is on their site. If they do not own the entire series, they still do not let fans distribute their music. Thus, they are in a sense over-stepping their bounds and ripping off people who want to know what the music from the series is like. What kinds of idiots do something like this? They're hurting their sales, if nothing else.
Common knowledge among BGC, Tenchi Muyo!, El Hazard, and other anime series' fans is that the people at AIC are awful bastards when they do not want people to have their music on their sites. They own BGC, BGC!, and AD.P.F., thus there is little music from these series available on sites around the internet. So how do the AIC people expect net surfers to be able to find out whether or not they like a certain song? They only have a few at their site, and frankly the AIC server is pathetically slow when it comes to downloading their one minute MP2 files.
Ah, but who are we to complain? After all, all we do is buy the merchandise and spend our money on a company that cares more about profits and less about its customers.
Maybe there should be an anti-AIC campaign... That would be helpful for some of us who are interested in hearing music before we buy it so that we know what we are buying.
