Official News about the New Series

The contract for the new Bubblegum Crisis TV series has been signed and JVC is now the official sponsor of that show. There is no date or sponsor set for any other country at this time.

Well, the Bubblegum crisis TV series was pushed back, while it is unfortunate that it will be delayed, it's good because it gives them more time to work on it.

We are sad to announce that Artmic as a company has dissolved, but their stories and ideas are still alive and well. This will have no noticeable impact on our future titles of Bubblegum Crisis or anything else that involved them.

First some information for BGC fans: The new TV series will take place in a parallel universe. The reasons for this are that the original series started 10 years ago we can't expect new fans to know what happened in the original series. Since we have to rebuild the story it would be somewhat boring and repetitive if we told the exact same story again with the new series. So, the new series will take place in the same environment as the original series with the original characters, though they will be updated designs you should still recognize them from the original OVA series. We'll also be introducing a fifth Knight Saber, Magical Saber Pretty Anri.... JUST KIDDING ^_^. There will not be a new Knight Sabre in the TV series. We are still working on the story for the new series so we can't tell you any more until we finish it. Also since the contract is not yet finished, we don't know who will be distributing it in the US or when they will be distributing it in the US. Those decisions are made by the distribution company.

Well, we can now officially announce that we will be making a Bubblegum Crisis TV series. It should start next October (97), the character designer will be Matsubara Hidenori and the director will be Hayashi Hiroki. The movie is planned for release the following year but no other details on that right now. That should put some BGC fans at ease for a bit ^_^.
