"On the western outskirts of the small harbor town of Bristol was a small bar and resturant called 'Ten-Kai'. The young woman proprietor--popular among the sailors ans riffraff patronizing the somewhat ramshackle eatery--was known simply as 'Miss China'."

Spirit of Wonder is a 5 episode comic created by Kenji Tsuruta that made its first appearence in the USA in April of 1996 with the help of Dark Horse Comics.

It is the story of Miss China, the owner of the Ten-kai Resturant in a sea-side town of Bristol. To help pay for her resturant (which is very popular with the sailors) she keeps borders on her second floor. However, her current borders are somewhat of a nuscence. Professor Breckenridge is a self-proclaimed genius inventor who's wacky inventions always seem to work. Also living upstairs as Breckenridge's assistent is Jim Floyd, the son of the brilliant inventor Doctor Jan Floyd, who has fallen for Miss China's beauty, wit, and stregnth. Miss China herself has fallen in love with Jim, but believes he is in love with Lily, the woman who runs the local flower shop/black-market in town. Dr Breckenridge and Jim manage to drag Miss China into one crazy scheme after another (usually with her bearing the brunt of the joke) to try to get out of paying their rent. From a ring made of moonrock, to a shooting star, to an Instantaneous Matter Transmitter, life is never boring at Ten-kai.

"For those of you who still haven't been to Ten-kai, today looks like it should be alright... Miss China seems quite happy. By all means, do go give the food a try!"
