Artemis adressed Mina. "The problem is that we simply don't have enough information on the enemy."
But Mina wasn't listening. She sighed, "There's something missing in my life. One who watches love is watched by love. I wonder which philosopher said that?"
"Nobody ever said that," Artemis grumbled, annoyed at the distraction.
"I wish some nice guy would come up to me, with roses, and say, 'Young lady, will you go out with me?'"
"Nobody would do that," Artemis sighed.
"When am I going to meet Mr. Right? When will the man I'm destined for show up?" Mina replied.
A volleyball rolled out of the gym. Luke dashed out of the gym after it. Mina threw the ball to him. "Are you still playing volleyball?" Mina asked.
"I want to play until the end of the school year," Luke replied. "Why did you quit volleyball after returning from England? Your flying somersault reception was so awesome."
Mina replied, "Actually, I wanted to continue playing..."
The volleyball coach called for Luke. "Gotta go," Luke said as he jogged back to the gym.
At Professor Chrono's hideout, Kaolinite made to for the Professor. "Have you found the talisman yet?" Chronos asked as she delivered the tea. "You've failed far too often." He stretched. "My body is stiff from doing my experiments all the time. Maybe a sportsman has a pure soul."
Chronos considered. He created a demon egg. "Find the pure heart of a sportsman."
"It is done," Kaolinite said.
The next day on the way to school, Mina met with Luke. Luke asked, "Do you have a boyfriend?"
Mina was startled by the question. "Why?"
Luke shrugged. "I was just wondering."
Mina turned to Luke. "What kind of girls do you like?"
"If I was going out with a girl," Luke said, "I'd want to be on the same level with her. When I was in sixth grade, I was very impressed by you. You were so good at volleyball." Mina was surprised. "I wanted to confess to you, after I made the team. Aren't you going to play volleyball anymore?"
Mina protested, "We're in eighth grade."
Luke persisted, "That doesn't matter."
"I'm very busy.
"Studying?"
"Well, lots of things..."
Luke sighed. "I've got to go to practice. See ya 'round." He left.
At the Hikawa Shrine, the girls had gathered to study. Mina laughed and read Sailor V manga instead. The other girls angrily watched. She had also brought Sailor V chocolates and Sailor V drinks.
Ami said, "You're not getting anywhere with your studies.
Mina said, "I'm sorry Ami, my teacher. The Mina of love and justice actually hates school and especially studying. Sometimes, she cheats." Mina stood up and said in a quiet voice, "Maybe I'll stop being a Senshi for a while."
The others stared in shocked silence.
Mina looked around. "I'm sorry. I don't feel like studying today." She left.
Artemis made to go after her. Rei stopped him, "Everyone has times when they want to be alone.
The demon floated to the school gym and embedded itself into the volleyballs.
Mina's video game car flew around the corner. It went wild and crashed. Erica watched and said, "What happened? Your normal rhythm has disappeared from your driving."
Later Mina and Erica walked down the street together. Mina asked, "Erica, do you have a boyfriend?"
Erica replied, "No. I've told you before."
Mina persisted. "But isn't there someone you like? What kind of person would a gifted racer like? Is it someone with a special talent?"
"What is it that you want?" Erica returned.
"Don't you ever feel that you want to be a normal high school girl?" Mina inquired. "Don't you get lonely without the normal happiness?"
"Are you sacrificing normal happiness?" Erica asked.
Mina shook her head. "No."
Erica replied, "I don't know what normal happiness is. But I don't think I'm unhappy. Loving car racing is the only way I can live. There are more important things to me than normal happiness."
"More important things?"
"Sorry I've got to go." Erica said and left.
Mina went to the school gym to watch Luke play volleyball. She watched as the team manager walked over to Luke and kissed him. Mina was stupefied.
As the girl turned to leave, Luke reached into the basket and pulled out another volleyball. It mutated into a demon.
Mina ducked behind some bleachers. She called everyone on the communicator. "There's trouble at the school gym."
We'll be there right away," Ami said.
"Venus Star Power!" Mina transformed.
The demon blasted Luke and the girl. "Stop!" shouted Sailor Venus. "I'm the beautiful sailor fighter of love and beauty, Sailor Venus. I'll give you the wrath of the god of love."
"Venus Love Chain Encircle!" the attack struck away the demon's attack. A volleyball net appeared of Venus and trapped her.
The demon pulled Luke's soul away from him. Kaolinite appeared and inspected the soul crystal. "This isn't it. Kill the boy and the Sailor."
"Moon Tiara Magic!" The tiara sliced the net imprisoning Sailor Venus.
"Kill Sailor Moon," Kaolinite ordered. She disappeared.
The demon changed the soul crystal into a volleyball. "I challenge you to a game!"
"Don't break the ball!" Venus shouted.
The demon threw the ball at Sailor Moon and Venus. They both dodged. The other Sailor Senshi appeared. The ball landed in Sailor Mars' arms.
"Good thing that's over," sighed Sailor Moon. The demon used telekinesis to control the ball and make it attack the Senshi.
Sailor Mercury exclaimed, "All we can do is dodge!"
Sailor Mars said, "We can get the ball."
Venus saw Luke struggling. "Demon! I challenge you to a game of volleyball."
The demon laughed. "Alright. If you want to lose." It served the ball.
"I am a Sailor Senshi," Mina said to herself. "There are things only I can protect."
The ball sliced through the air towards Venus. She used her flying somersault reception to return the ball. Luke saw the move and realized that Sailor Venus was Mina.
The ball flew into Sailor Mars' arms. "Moon Spiral Heart Collision!" Sailor Moon finished off the demon.
Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus were hiding behind the bleachers. They had watched the whole battle
Later, as Luke and his girlfriend were walking together, they bumped into Mina. Luke smiled at her. "If you ever run into Sailor Venus, please thank her for me." Together, Luke and his girlfriend walked off.
Mina heard a voice. "Young lady, will you go out with me?"
She looked up into a tree and saw a bouquet of roses. Artemis threw them down to her. "I'll think about it," said Mina.
