Fushigi Yuugi

Fushigi Yuugi(Mysterious Game(or how ever you want to translate it)) is basically about two teenage girls(Miaka and Yui) who are best friends and are about to do their exams. And then one day they are in the library and they find an old Chinese book which says that once you start reading the legend of the "four gods of heaven and earth"* it becomes true. They then are "sucked" into the book and it's like their in ancient China. Eventually Miaka becomes Suzaku no Miko(priestess of suzaku) and begins to find the 7 suzaku seishi*(really good people!) who needs in able to call Suzaku*. Meanwhile, Yui has become Seiryuu no Miko and is basically doing the same sort of thing but against Miaka. And lots of awesome stuff happens after that.
