Anime Multimedia

Hello all! This is ChichiriGF!! I love anime and I like to critic them. One of the important features for anime are the sounds/background music including opening/ending music. Music is important in anime. Have you ever tried to watch an Anime without any music? With Mute mode? You'll find it very boring. Music makes the watcher excited or sad. You can feel the danger approaching and get nervous even when the characters are oblivious in appearance. It is hard to get emotional without any sad music. Even if you are not aware of the background music, it affects you.

So music in anime are very important and the producers are always careful of picking the correct music for their anime. Opening and Closing music are one of the most important music. Opening music must be eye catching enough to make the watcher want to see the anime and the Closing music must make the watcher feel emotional and want to watch the next episode. Closing music are more important then Opening music.

Generally, Opening music are exciting and fast and Closing music, slightly sad and slow. Well, Ranma 1/2; Movie 1 and 2 were different, since the there is no Opening music except the background music (Great Confusion for Movie 1) and the Closing music (It's Love and Piece of Love) were exciting, but generally, such as the OAV of Ranma 1/2; , It's Love Panic for Opening music and Ballade of Ranma/Akane for Closing. (I am using Ranma 1/2; as example since it is well known anime)

But Music isn't the only important factor in Anime. Good plot attracts the watchers. But before you know the plot or the music, you see the commercials as in Animation/Art. You see the art of Anime and judge it by the looks. Art doesn't always mean that anime is good, but admit it, we all judge books by the cover. We can't help ourselves. So art of anime influences a lot.

Fushigi Yuugi is a good example since details of Fushigi Yuuji in their clothing are beautifully designed. But you must remember that anime can be good without good art. For example, we all know Ranma 1/2; animation isn't as good as, say Sailor Moon, no matter how much you like Ranma 1/2; . (Though I admit OAV/Movies of Ranma 1/2; are great!) And you all know, Ranma 1/2; plot is pretty intricate and complicated, and extremely well done.

In most cases, art starts off dumb, simple and "off" looking. Later as the artist gets better, he/she draws in better style. Examples are Ranma 1/2; (Anime), Ah My Goddess, Sailor Moon, and Then in most cases for popular anime/manga, the artists are pressed for the next issue and the art become screwy such as Slam Dunk, and Dragon Ball. Then again, some artists don't change their style, mostly because they are already used to it such as Clamp. Their style is very unique and through out the whole manga, the character doesn't get worse or better. (It already IS good ^_^).

Another artist I would like to mention is Rumiko Takahashi, the well known Ranma 1/2; and Maison Ikoku author. I mentioned before that Ranma 1/2; is one of the examples that gets bad to better. That is only the Anime version. The artists for the anime weren't very good and as the anime/manga of Ranma 1/2; became famous, they were thrown out and were replaced by better artists. ^_^;; Thus OAV are better then the beginning versions of Ranma 1/2; in the Anime. In Manga, there aren't much change.
